Could Gonçalo Guedes be Arsenal’s next signing?

Lucas Torreira Deal All But Done, Gonçalo Guedes Could Be Next Arsenal Signing

Arsenal has done well so far in the transfer market. Having yesterday confirmed the signing of Bernd Leno, Sampdoria president has come out to say their star player Lucas Torreira has been sold. Although he didn’t say the player was sold to Arsenal but virtually all media outlet in Italy, France, the UK and Uruguay have it that Arsenal has signed the player.

And if Torreira hasn’t signed for Arsenal, I see no reason why Arsenal would have let Wilshere go. From all indication, the deal has been agreed and will be announced any moment from now. But Arsenal are still getting linked with the signing of more players. In the last week, long term target Cristian Pavon and PSG star Gonçalo Guedes who is currently on loan at Valencia were both linked with Arsenal.

Both players are very good wingers. Both can play the same positions – left wing, right wing and as second striker. Which make it even more interesting for Arsenal. Having lost Alexis Sanchez to Manchester United and Danny Welbeck looking likely to be sold this summer, Arsenal could do with another left winger. But they certainly do not have the money to sign both of this players.

And if you ask who they should sign between Cristian Pavon and Gonçalo Guedes, I would say Gonçalo Guedes all the way. Don’t get me wrong, I have been trying to watch Pavon since Arsenal were first linked with his signing last January and I quite like what I have seen but he is primarily a right winger and not a left winger. What we need is a left winger and that for me means Guedes.

The good thing about Guedes is that PSG his parent club could do with some money from player sales in order not to fall foul of the UEFA financial fair play law. It has been reported that UEFA would not be sanctioning the French club for their activities in the transfer market last summer but that in order not to fall foul of the FFP law, they must sell some players.

With PSG’s team already star studded, Guedes is most likely going to be declared surplus to requirement which means Arsenal can easily sign him for anything from £36 million and above. Pavon could also be available for a similar amount, however the fact that he is yet to play in Europe gives Guedes the edge over him for me. Guedes has done well with Valencia in the La Liga and I firmly believe should Arsenal sign him, he will do well under Emery as well.

But all said, we Gunners have to put our trust in Sven Mislintat, Emery and the other member of the management staff to do the right thing for our beautiful club. They have done well so far, but more is still needed.
