Could Josh Kroenke intervene in the Wenger situation?

Can Josh Kroenke exercise his power as the director of football and bring about the desired change in Arsenal? By S K

When Claudio Ranieri was sacked as the coach of Leicester City football club, it was rumoured around sports circles that the son of the owner of the club impressed on his father the reason why he had to do away with the coach and bring about a positive change to the affairs of the club. Inasmuch as I felt bad with the decision to sack Claudio, the effects of the sack has been positive so far and nobody can really say it was not a bad decision.

Chelsea football club has been managed and owned by the Abramovich family for more than ten years now! The managerial style of the owner though may be brutal and ruthless, but it has achieved results so far. Abramovich is not a man to mix sentiments with decision making! He sacks coaches at will, hires them at will and is not afraid to sack them again. This method of his, has won Chelsea the UEFA Champions league, the Europa Cup, premier league trophies, F.A cups and even the EFL! No matter how we feel about it, Chelsea has been the better for it.

Just this recently, it was all over the sport news that Josh Kroenke, the son of Stan Kroenke, the American owner of Arsenal, wants Thierry Henry to coach Arsenal, as soon as Wenger steps down! Well, he is entitled to his wish but I feel that should not be what he should be thinking of at the moment. Thierry Henry is an Arsenal legend and it will be an honour to see him coach the same team he won laurels for to success, but first things first!

Right now, nobody is sure of Arsene Wenger’s next move; is he going to extend his contract beyond this season or is he going to leave Arsenal alone! If he decides to call it quits with Arsenal at the end of this current season, fine! But if he decides to extend his contract beyond the season, then that is where Josh Kroenke will have a problem. If Wenger stays, Josh may have to wait for years before his dream of seeing Henry coach Arsenal come to fulfillment. Can he afford to wait? I don’t think so.

Josh looks to me an ambitious man; being a football director at Arsenal shows he likes to be associated with success. He knows he is the heir apparent to his father who is currently the chairman of the club and this is the time he needs to start stamping his feet on the ground, regarding issues concerning the running of this great club! His father seems to have been held spellbound by Wenger and may seem reluctant to sack Le Prof but Josh can pressurize and force him to take the right decision for the club. He should talk to his father and make him realize that if things continue the way it is at the club, Arsenal may risk losing their bragging rights as one of the big clubs in Europe. He needs to personally call Wenger aside and talk to him about leaving the club at the end of the season. Maybe Wenger needs somebody in the club to look him in the face and tell him to take a walk; Josh seems to be the perfect person to do that.

However, Josh should take it easy with his choice of Henry coaching the club in case Wenger leaves. Thierry Henry is a good choice but he definitely is not the best choice. We need a coach who can rebuild the club, rebuild the confidence of the players and the fans. Henry won’t be able to do that; he has no experience of coaching a top club.

We can get an Allegri or Simeone to coach the club, while Henry becomes an assistant to either of them. This way, he will still be a part of the coaching team and at the same time, learn from them on how to manage a big club. Don’t you think it is high time Josh talked to his father on the Wenger situation?

  1. Wenger is going to sign a 2 year extension, with a pay rise, regardless of what happens. In his world, everything is OK at Arsenal,we are still in the mix for his 4th place trophy are we not?

    1. But what pay rise?

The last week in the life of Wenger:

Wenger wakes up a week Monday:

Wenger: * takes his earphones out* yeah that cantose learn a language in your sleep subliminal s**** is working

*Walks down the stairs. There is a Bichon Frisse jumping around*

Wenger: No offense dude but you are going g my street credit no good. I only have you because that pit puppy I bought grew up to be a monster

      *Bichon looks at him list*

Wenger: Bruv, you know I’m street. Where we grew up we have pits and rotties!

*Bichon says meh and walks off*

Wenger: No wait! Don’t leave me like Sanchez, RVP and Henry did

*Bichon looks back and carries on:

      Wenger: Yeah fine!!!!!!

      *Bichon looks back and barks*

Wenger: did you just say 10 to 2?

      *Bichon looks at clock*

Wenger: Yeah fine it is 10 to 2. But are you Micki g me?

*Bichon goes and sits in basket. An hour later the Bichon comes out and barks*

Wenger: did you just say 10 to 2?

      *Bichon looks at clock*

Wenger: Bruv, you know I’m a pitbull kind of guy

An hour later – *Bichon comes out and barks*

Wenger: you know what! **** You! With this while 10 2 ****!!!!

      *Bichon looks puzzled*

      Wenger: urm ……

  2. Josh Kroenke ‘director of football’ ! When did that happen?
    Just asking. . . . .

  3. One yank , talking to another over football matters is the solution to our problems you say ?

    How ingenious !

Maybe Krusty the clown could be present to bounce ideas off of too !!!

  4. Don’t get me started on kroenke junior!
His criteria for Henri is that he’s a likeable, funny and charismatic guy. Doubt they’ve even thought about footballing aspects.
Tonight I can see it unfolding barca knock psg out, emery is sacked Wenger goes to psg, could happen.
There was talk of this when Blanc was in the job but Wenger stuck around for us, Yeh er thanks then 🙂

    1. Spot on about Barcelona,
After 5 minutes of injury time It was 5-1 and it looked like they were going out on the away goals rule and lucky for them the refs watch must have stopped working when Barcer scored their 6th goal ?

    2. Haha get real man. Wenger lost 10-2 why will psg want to hire him? Psg want to compete in ucl not ligue one . wenger can’t get a job there

  5. Arsenal players that how you do it. Take a good look
    Barcelona 6 PSG 5.
    Arsenal 2 Bayern 10

    1. @dandy gunner
Thats right, just throw yourself to the ground whenever a player comes near you, so you’re guaranteed penalties. Not to mention the odd own goal…Get real.

  6. I just witnessed what real footballers are made off! Barca 6 -PSG 1 (6-5) aggregate coming behind from 4-0 and i did mention it after the Arsenal trashing. We need at least 5 top class players and players with COJONES ( balls ) and determination to over turn games. we got only one and now everyone is trolling him to go. justice will always prevail. Arsenal to become a contender needs players with hunger for the badge not pussy cat dolls.

  7. You also witnessed an amazing swallow dive from Suarez takes me back to his time in the PL.
What about Neymars free kick eh!!
Barca, real, bayern and juve so so far above us.

  8. Dive or Not the drive to get the result no mater how. they got 3 top class and couple of good ones so there is always hope. we do not and we need a new manager who fire the scouting craps we got and get the players. Rodriguez for the LB , Isco to replace santi , (Carvalho / kirchowiac ) not playing at PSG we can get him cheap ) and ABU/huntellar just to mention few but it can be done and bring our glory times back
