Could Thomas Partey be this summer’s Pepe deal for Arsenal?

Thomas Partey: Another Nicolas Pépé? by AI

Last summer will go down in Arsenal lore as one of the most memorable transfer periods of recent times. Ridiculed and mocked by internet minions and skeptics, Arsenal nevertheless ended up mopping up top talents from everywhere around Europe, none as suspenseful nor victorious as a certain mercurial French winger, Nicolas Pépé.

This season, inevitably, the crickets have come out again, chirping in derision at the increasing rumours of Thomas Partey to Arsenal. Thomas Partey is having a real breakout season. From Madrid derbies to the infamous Anfield heist, the Ghanaian midfielder is putting his name on every lip out there, breaking out of the “underrated” mould with increasing force.

There are some striking similarities with his and Nicolas Pépé’s transfer situation. He’s an accessible top talent in a position of need for Arsenal. He has a low wage pay and has been at one club for a while now. Approaching the apex of his playing career, Partey must be looking for a huge pay raise. At 26 and on top of the world, there is no better time to lust after a London club.

While a premium fee has been attached to his name, it is still not out of Arsenal’s capabilities yet. And with an increasingly squad player like Alexandre Lacazette heavily desired by Atletico Madrid, a swap deal is not impossible. It seems eerily possible. While there might be competition from elsewhere, you have to take into account that we are based in a very attractive city and capable of offering great pay to players from other leagues. And there’s the fact that when Arsenal knock, it’s different from other clubs, too.

With a new manager and a new project which the board presumably want to support, it is very possible that Thomas Partey will be Arteta’s own Nicolas Pépé, transfer-wise.

We can all only hope that the links are true and Raul “the Great” Sanllehi can work out a fantastic acquisition deal in our favour. It will only get better from here onward.

  1. Love the optimism.But its a long shot.a really,really long shot.like a 40 yd screamer long shot.

  2. Oh, you… No risk. TP is to good to be a flop. And about Pepé: I’m sure he will be much better this year. Just you wait and see. He’s gonna surprise us all. Everybody can’t that easy adapt to EPL. He needed a year. Now he’s coming… Thank’s to doctor Arteta.

  3. TP. Hmm I dont think it is such a long shot and a layer like this will really boost our ranks.

    1. He is a arsenal fan

    2. Arsenal is still a house hold name. We may have shrunk over recent years but globally we are still huge.

    3. House hold name in africa. TP is a ghanain and in africa teams such as arsenal chelsea and utd reign supreme. Everyone supports these teams because of the great african players who have played for these teams. Kanu, Toure, song Adebayor. Arsenal and the prem has had some great African players and many africans dream of emulating these players in such clubs.

    4. Big fish small pond. Arsenal currently only have 1 player arguably who is world class. This can allow TP to really stamp his mark on arsenal and the prem.

    5. Let lacca go! Love the guy. This team is not for him. I think madrid would rather take him on a swap then allow TP to go cheaply for his release clause

    6. We can afford his wages

Lastly pepe has played 32 games and een directly involved in 14 goals. Not shabby for a first season. He is a quality player who I beleive will come good. Once he settles into artetas new system he has the ability to be extremely lethal. I see him playing like moe Salah with the ability to beat players and score from many areas

  4. If we sign Partey, he could be the most important signing in over a decade for us. Although I was so pleased to get Torriera, he doesn’t have the physical attributes that’s best suited to the EPL, but especially for what Arsenal need.

    1. Yeah, ifffff, Partey comes, it could be the beginning of the Resurrection. He’s a guy you can build a whole team around. From defense all the way up. Let’s hope and pray. Hallelujah. Ps. It would be nice if we even can get Axel Disasi from Reims. Better than Upamecano. Faster, stronger, better tackler, better passer, better in the air. With a heart of a lion. And… ladies and gentlemen… with a price suited for our little empty purse. A true powerhouse (1.9 m 86 kilos), built like an athlete (Upa isn’t) for £13m. Ds.

  5. Pepe is most expensive flop in football today, probably never been such a flop in history!

So, no we do not hope for Partey to be new Pepe for us but the opposite.

We should have bought him a year ago and not Pepe! Save 50M in process then!

Then use that money to put on Koulibaly transfer instead!

    Leno
    Bellerin Koulibaly Chambers Tierny
    Partey Ceballos
    Ozil
    Nelson Auba. Saka

Saka would be as deadly on that wing
able to come on his left foot to shoot as Pepe… This is an option but indeed we can play anybody along Partey & Koulibaly, upfront as wel

Our issue been a top CB and DM, never been fixed 2 years and 4 windows! Lousy owner & board, poor management overall!

    1. Dembele of Barcelona is the most expensive flop in recent times. Does nothing when he plays, and rarely plays because he’s always injured.

I think you’re a little harsh on Pepe. I will admit he’s not impressed me that much, but I can see potential, and it is his first season. The likes of Henry, Pires, Bergkamp, took a while to settle, but look how good they turned out.

I agree with you about buying Party over Pepe though. Got to sort out our spine first before adding more flair players.

  6. Meant; saka could be deadly on right wing as well.

Feels akward to talk about transfers, we must see how we restart first…

  7. Hello to everyone in the UK? I hope everything has eased up that (if sky news reports are to be believed) Really good to hear positive reports though it’s best to have a listen to the likes of sue on what is the true picture on the ground. I am in a country with less than 1000 cases and 32 deaths and it is scary….. Nothing close to normal . I work in the hotel industry and we are on unpaid leaves . Is sport essential as of now? And when is it save for a restart

    1. Hey Kenya 🙂
No live sport (UK) until June 1st at the earliest… All eyes will be on Germany at the weekend… Things here are easing a little, but are still a long way off returning to ‘normal’…..
Look after yourself and stay safe!

  8. Hopefully is Saka better as a winger than LWB. Watch his second half against Everton. Unbelievable. What a misfit (especially min 64-66). Must have lost his eye lenses. Poor kid. I wonder if he really is such a talent. Let Klopp buy him for £50m. Then we can buy Partey.

  9. Don’t know why, but I have a feeling this could just happen and what a signing he would be – let’s not write pepe off to soon either, it takes a season to adjust and we have Mikel Arteta to get the best out of players…let’s be positive!!!
