Rosicky is not hanging his boots up just yet! by AH
Arsenal said goodbye to Arteta, Rosicky and Flamini last Sunday in what was an emotional time for all three players. Whilst it seems Flamini’s future hangs in the balance, with inconsistent reports of whether the Frenchman is leaving the club or not, both Rosicky and Arteta have definitely departed from the Gunners. It should be noted that whilst Arteta could still potentially remain at the club as a coach rather than a player, club legend Tomas Rosicky will be doing neither, as he looks towards pastures new.
Rosicky however is still looking to keep on playing after leaving Arsenal! Speaking to the media, Rosicky said that he is still fit and looking to extend his playing career for a least a few more years. As the Metro reports, Rosicky said: ‘Yes, I’m fit, I played a couple of games for the Arsenal Under-21s so I feel quite alright. At the moment I’m not thinking about retiring, I want to focus on the Euros and go from there. We [the Czechs] will be very uncomfortable for every opponent, the group is difficult but we are the type of team who have a good shape and we fight for each other. They are tournament attributes which you can use very well.’
It was a shame that we did not manage to see Little Mozart play one last final game for the club however as he said he has played a few under 21 games recently and is feeling fit enough to carry on playing professionally elsewhere. The issue with the Czech Republic international is that nobody knows just how long Rosicky will last before his next injury, which is why after 10 years of service; Arsenal finally decided that he needed to look elsewhere rather than remain on our books. At 35 years old, he still could play for a few more years, but I feel injuries may prevail.
Even though he never fully managed to flourish for the Gunners because of consistent injuries, when fit, his ability, loyalty and commitment to the club over the 10 years has made him an Arsenal legend. It is enough to show exactly why he is so respected at Arsenal and he definitely deserved his send off on Sunday. I hope that he manages to find himself another club to show that he does still have the ability the Arsenal fans were treated to, and the Euros will be a great shop window for him toprove to suitors that he can stillplay at a high level.
