Diaby set for THIRD Arsenal game in over two years?

Many of us Arsenal fans thought we had seen the last of Abou Diaby in an Arsenal shirt as his contract is nearing an end and that one previous appearance this season, in the Capital One Cup defeat by Southampton in September, was followed by the latest in a ridiculously long string of injury problems.

Now, however, there is a good chance that the talented French midfielder could be set for his second appearance of the season, beating his tally of one game at the end of last season that was his first in almost 18 months. Diaby, along with Debuchy, Arteta and Wilshere, took part in a friendly game during the international break and then he completed an hour for the under 21 Gunners on Tuesday. And Arsenal.com have reported that the manager says they are ready to play if necessary.

Wenger said, β€œThey came through the game on Tuesday well. They were at a good level physically and they should all be available from now on until the end of the season hopefully.”

The reason I think that Diaby is more likely to play against Burnley on Saturday, although not from the start, is that he is the player that most needs the chance to show what he can do after so few games in recent seasons. He also could be the best option for Arsenal towards the end of the game, assuming that we have taken the lead and want to see the game out. The fact that he was the most impressive of our returning players in his last two games will not hurt his chances either.

But could Diaby finally be ready to be `like a new signingΒ΄ for Arsenal?

  2. AND I HATE IT WHEN MY COMMENTS ARE HIDDEN!!! ADMIN UVE GOTTA DO SOMETHIN HERE MY FREEDOM OF SPEECH IS PROTECTED BY THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES!!!!!!!!!

    1. Haywill and Hafiz Rahman giving it a go lol. Longtime I dont see u comment on here Haywill. I miss laughing at your funny comments mate

  3. If Diaby survives the remaining matches, that maybe it for any hopes for a new top DM.

Just saying. There is no guarantee he will be fit for next season but Wenger may feel that Arsenal has enough midfielders.

But on the other hand Diaby is quality and Maybe he will stop getting injured

  4. He must go. He has an established high injury rate, and so it would be statistically foolish to take a chance on him and risk more years of paying out needless wages.

    1. Diaby will clearly be on minimal wages or a pay as u play contract , May aswell keep him just invade he overcomes the injuries . It’s not like another club are gonna hand him 50k a week to be injured

  5. Wenger, Flamini, Arteta, Diaby, Debuchy all has to go….we dont need pensioners at the club…

anyone 29yo and above has to go….

  6. Some Arsenal are either just plain cruel or ignorant. Diaby got injured by no fault of his own and credit to Arsenal for recognizing that and his extreme talents to persist with faith in him, that’s what sets Arsenal above any other club in the world. One person called it a con job if Diaby comes back of the remaining games and get a contract, what a disrespectful asertion of someone who gave his all for the club and has his leg horribly broken.

Diaby is a special talent and Arsenal/Wenger realizes that, some are saying that we should spend way it takes for Pogba etc. but please remember that when Diaby made his come back 2 years ago he simply walk into the French squad over Pogba, Schnderline etc. There’s nothing wrong with giving Diaby a pay as you play contract with the hope that this true gem can recapture his fitness and show the world that he is one of the best box to box CM (he’s not a DM).

    1. Exactly well said, that is what makes arsenal such a special club. Any other club would’ve kicked him to the curb, probably injuring the poor guy in the process but arsenal have stuck by him and that speaks volumes to me.

Abou is my 2nd favorite player behind rosicky I hope abou can remain healthy from here on out I can’t imagine what being injured does to his mental state (actually I can cause i f*cked up my back andi haven’t played footy in 5 yrs!) but Diaby is a class footballer and I hope he can start showing it again.

  7. No player deserves a start more than Diaby. If he’s fit, then he should be the first substitute off the bench IMO.
