There are many rumours linking Arsenal with a summer move for the Chelsea and England defender Ruben Loftus-Cheek, but I am at a loss to understand the reasoning behind it. This is what the Sun is reporting today….
Arsenal are looking at a shock move for Chelsea ace Ruben Loftus-Cheek in January.
Loftus-Cheek had a promising summer with England at the World Cup, but has since lost all his first-team momentum.
And the Gunners are looking at ways to land the Three Lions ace, according to ESPN.
It is understood Arsenal boss Unai Emery would like Loftus-Cheek in a permanent swoop as he is a big fan of his talents.
Chelsea are only thought to be willing to let him leaving the club on a six-month loan and evaluate his position next year.
The fact is that the 22 year-old midfielder played in more games for England at the World Cup (4) than he has for Chelsea this season (2), so he would be looking to move away to get some more first-team experience. Last season he went on a very successful loan at Crystal Palace and performed magnificently, which earned him the England call-up, and it may be more beneficial to him to return there than come to Arsenal.
How can we guarantee him any playing time when we already have Mesut Ozil, Granit Xhaka, Maitland-Niles, Lucas Torreira, Matteo Guendouzi and Aaron Ramsey competing for places, not to mention Mo Elneny who can hardly get a game himself.
No this rumour makes absolutely no sense to me whatsoever!

This rumor came up as a Ramsey replacement.
If this was to come true then it could very well be as a Ramsey replacement, removing one CM from the list in the article.
I also wonder about the future of players like Elneny, he isn’t getting loads of gametime and he is being overtaken… If we did lose Elneny and Ramsey then bringing in one player could be ideal to ensure we do not go down to too few.
I think this is just an option the Arsenal scouts have, I do believe that our scouts have options for every pos incase we need to target a specific role in the next transfer window… or if something unplanned happened. Sven doesn’t seem like the guy to leave things to chance, he looks like a guy who works hard and enjoys the fruits of his hard work.

No!!! I wouldn’t swap Ramsey with him and I’d prefer we spent some decent money and made an upgrade to the side rather than sticking with Torriera and Xhaka by bringing in a squad option who may come good one day.
That’s how we used to do business, I’d want to see someone come in and rival fans start talking about how we sorted the holding position and now they’ve sorted the guy next to him Before saying ..Arsenal will be a better side now that they’re looking at each position carefully. At the very least I’d want us to aim this way. Not every signing will work out. However, bringing in Loftos Cheek smacks of lack of ambition!!!
