Do the Arsenal players really want Wenger to stay?

With Arsenal on their worst run of results in over ten years there has been many discussions about whether Wenger has “lost the dressing room” or the players simply don’t want to play for him any more.

Personally I think it is combination of a loss of confidence after getting mauled by Bayern Munich, and the ongoing uncertainty about Wenger’s future, but whatever the reason the fact is that the Gunners now have to regain their composure quickly to try and win a place back in the Top Four, and also they still have the possibility of going to the FA Cup Final, no matter what our opinion of the matter.

It has been strange that there has not been much talk of the matter from the players themselves, as surely they should also be taking a big share of the responsibilty for the clubs downward spiral as well as Wenger, but now at last Olivier Giroud has publicly announced his support for Wenger, and it sounds like he is talking for his team-mates as well. “We want Arsène Wenger to renew his contract, to continue his adventure, because we support him. We hope we can win the Cup and that Arsenal qualify for the Champions League.”

Well if they support him, you would think they would be trying a little bit harder on the pitch than they have been lately, especially against teams like West Brom and Watford, who they should be beating with ease..

Do the players really support Wenger? Or is Giroud just saying what he thinks the papers want to hear?

  1. Do the Arsenal players really want Wenger to stay?
Yes they do, most of them are deadwoods for the next manager to deal with …

  2. It’s not a coincidence that someone like Giroud would come out and say he wants Wenger to stay.

Wenger has treated him with silk gloves and made him undeservedly the first choice striker at Arsenal for 4 SEASONS. No other top club in the Premier League would’ve had it so, he would be a starter for WBA at most.

  3. Giroud, Kos, Bellerin and Ramsey have officially stated that they want Wenger to stay.
The Ox liked a ‘Wenger out’ post on Twitter but quickly back tracked and claimed it was a mistake lol.
?Zil Originally supported Wenger but has since done a U-turn, claiming that his staying or leaving will have no effect on his own future at the club.
It makes no difference really, reports are claiming that Wenger has already signed a two year extension.
The club will cash in on Sanchez and ?Zil during the summer, the Ox is yet to be offered a new contract which runs out at the end of this season.
All in all, the fun and ? stains will continue next season.

  4. Most players yes

Because they are not Top layers
Range from Below average (ie Sanogo) to Average (Ramsey, eleney, Welbeck, Gibbs) to slighty above average (Giroud, Lucas, Theo)

Most of our players would not start at other Top teams
ie. Coquelin is not as good as Kante, Matic, Schneiderlin, Kompany, Toure etc
Walcott/Lucas/elbeck are not as good as Hazard, Pedro, Willain, Jesus, Nolito, Barkley, Bony, Sterling
Giroud/Welbeck are not as good as Aguero, Costa, Ibrahimovic, Lukaku

Top players ie. Alexis, Ozil, Koscielny, Bellerin want trophies as well as money

    1. Apparently, Wenger wants Barkley to replace ?Zil, as well as raiding Celtic for two of their players, with one of them being a left back.

      1. Barkley could make a good CM. But a CAM? No way he’s up to it.

That Celtic LB has to be Kieran Tierney, a 19-year old Scot with 12 assists to his name this season.

The other player is surely Dembele? Can’t say much about them 2. Scottish Premier League is absolutely rubbish league, however players like Van Dijk came from Celtic and made immediate impact.

  5. We were all expecting Wenger to want to go out with a bang and go big in the transfer markets of late, in a bid to win one or both of the major trophies before he retired, but what with the old boy being stubborn and delusional in his ways,he has yet again proven that he is slow to react to the obvious and With reality hitting him in the face (hard) with a big wet fish, it now seems as though Wenger will be overhauling his team during this summers transfer window.
Early Reports are suggesting that he will have another £100 million to spend but the bad news is ?? the estimated funds from the sales of ?Zil and Sanchez is included in that lol ?

    1. Funny thing is, with today’s market we could gather easily +100 million from Giroud, Ramsey, Özil, Debuchy and Jenkinson. Even offer Sanogoal in a “take 5, get 1 for free”!

However, we will sell way under the market price as we always do. Not like Chelsea selling Sideshow-Bob and Oscar the Donkey for 50 mils each.

  6. People have said that the players don’t even want him there as you can tell from the performances. I don’t go along with this, I think it’s people reading their own opinions into it. This is one of the worst Arsenal midfields I’ve ever witnessed, I think this is one of the reasons for such awkward displays. We had maybe the best midfield in England throughout many years, it was our strong suit regarding attack. It’s not the case anymore, we’ve tried adding the DM’s like the fans wanted, but it has taken from creativity and it’s not as solid as it was supposed to be. Add that to what we know of our wide players and it makes for uneven looking performances.
