Do we still believe Arsenal can make Top Four?

Arsenal may be currently sitting 7 points behind Man City in 4th place in the Premier League table, and 9 points behind Liverpool, but our games in hand mean that we could move a bit closer to the Champions League places. But of course the Gunners have to start winning again, and if we can’t do that against a Middlesbrough team that hasn’t won a game for months then I seriously will believe our season is over as far as the Top Four is concerned.

When Mesut Ozil was asked about his contract situation, he made it clear that the Top Four was still the priority. He said: “At this stage I’m not important, what’s important is the club,”

“We’ve still got a lot to aim for this season, to try and finish in the top four.

“It would be wrong to think about anything other than the football and then we can talk again at the end of the season.”

Obviously Wenger has made it into the Top Four every single season since he arrived 21 years ago, so it doesn’t surprise me that he believes he will do it again this season. As he said this morning: “We might get there, we might not get there but the only thing is to believe we can do it.”

There are still many big games to come before the end of the season, and Arsenal must somehow get their confidence back and start believing they can win every single one. I’m not sure that I believe that is possible!

    1. I’m allergic to Top 4 mentality

      .
If you can’t take 1st position, please finish outside the UCL spot

  1. The players Must want this . This situation is entirely up to them . We will always support The Arsenal .A

  2. He is not suppose to say otherwise.
He is the manager of the team and must stay positive.
His players, fans and a lot others get strength from him staying positive. That said,
We are not making top four this season and his time has been up since yester years.

  3. This is the mentality wenger has injected into a majority of the Arsenal fanbase (excluding me tho)

    .

Yea!!! we can make Top 7…….

    1. Wonder how many supporters we’ll lose this season, and how many Chelsea might gain coincidentally. Personally I don’t mind if some fat gets trimmed, their voice should never have counted.

  4. Top 4 is not important any longer for our future. It won’t happen this year (top 4) since the team stopped playing for Wenger. They want him gone. They admitted Palace wanted the win more. Our season and our hopes for a top 4 are gone. Best to accept that reality and ponder the future.

Most impactful thing to our future is who will manage what players next season not if we will finish 4th. If the answer is Wenger, top 4 or top 7 makes zero difference.

    1. Actually, Wenger bashed Walcott for stating that Palace wanted the win more. He said that the players comment was unacceptable lol.
More proof that Wenger has issues with accepting the truth.

      1. It was unacceptable!, he was the bloody captain for crying out loud. Walcott should stick to tiddlywinks.

      2. I wash shocked by that and it highlighted to me how Wenger’s modus operandi is still “let’s pretend to the fans and hide the truth”. Theo was being honest and stated what every fan and pundit could see clearly.

How can you pretend otherwise? How can this fossil claim we put in a good effort? If he really believes that it explains why we are sooo bad and if he doesn’t believe it it shows how two faced he is with the fans.

As a fan I appreciate Theo calling it as it was, it gives me some level of comfort to know the players or the captain is aware that the effort needed was not there.

  5. Top four will be disastrous for Arsenal! It just guarantees more years at Arsenal for Wenger, as he’ll claim it to be a huge success. Forget two more years, as everyone has been mentioning, it could easily be four more years, or more! It wasn’t that long ago when Wenger stated that his preference is stay at Arsenal, and that he could see himself managing for at least another four years.

If Wenger signs a new deal, when almost everyone wants rid of him, then clearly he only cares about himself, and couldn’t care less about the mounting evidence against him, and what his critics think. So what is there to stop him signing another contract in two years time, irrespective of what happens during that period? In two years time he’ll be 69 years old, so I cannot imagine he’ll want to start a new project at another club at that age. He’s delusional enough to think that only HE can manage Arsenal, and that he’s always done a great job. We know he wants to retire at Arsenal, so I can easily see yet ANOTHER contract in two years, if he stays.

It’s painful watching how bad we’ve become, but I’ve been wanting a season like this for years, because it might be enough to finally force change at Arsenal.

  6. Losing against Palace basically killed my hopes of a top 4 finish and to be honest,I don’t think that finishing fourth will be enough to enter the champions league qualifying Round this year, as much as I hate to say this.. Man Utd look hell bent on winning the Europa league this year and I have a bad feeling that they will.

This really does feel like the season where the Spuds turn the tables on us, them Qualifying for next seasons UCL while we book up for playing spursday night football ?

    1. No,we will not play Eropa league, we will finish number 9. One night I dreamt that we were losing 4:0 against a team, can’t remember which one and when I looked at the table we were number 9. I fear it will be against Everton at the last day of the season. LOL

  7. Top four or bottom four it makes no difference.
Wenger will be offered a new deal no matter.
Arsenal are the club where success is measured by bottom line profits and everything else is irrelevant.

    1. Yeah and the bottom line will surely hurt them for not qualifying for the champions league,it’s been reported that it will cost the club £45 million in revenue.

      1. No because Europa run only comes in at about five to ten mil difference, somewhere in between. Our run to our usual stage had that difference to where utd was at the same stage. Allot of the money is in match-day revenue, only a portion comes from eufa.

If it becomes a regular theme well then we’d need to worry, because our fame or notoriety would dwindle some more, then sponsorship advertising everything would begin to suffer.

  8. I don’t think this current team can do it. If we had Liverpool’s games and a couple more like that well then I’d be quietly confident. We don’t have that same creative force from midfield that used to blow teams away when the pressure died down, but this midfield still has the pressure of not being good enough or trying to prove things so it’s different. We still leak sloppy and unnecessary goals, but we are finally more clinical this season where was that when we needed it.

  9. I just can’t believe that Arsenal’s board can offer this man another contract. I don’t wish to be a merchant of doom, but another 2 years will bring this club to lts knees.

  10. We won’t get top 4 and we’ll finish fifth or sixth. I reckon that Arsenal vs Man United next month will decide who finishes fifth. We won’t win the FA Cup either as the team don’t show up in big games anymore.
