Does N’Zonzi talks mean Torreira is NOT coming to Arsenal?

This is very worrying, as the usual Sky “sources” are saying that Arsenal are in talks to sign Steven N’Zonzi from Sevilla.

Sky reported: Arsenal are in talks to sign Sevilla midfielder Steven N’Zonzi, according to Sky sources.

Gunners boss Unai Emery worked with N’Zonzi during his time at the Spanish club.

N’Zonzi previously enjoyed spells with Blackburn Rovers and Stoke before joining Sevilla in 2015.

The 29-year-old, who is currently on international duty with France at the World Cup, has made 136 appearances for Sevilla, scoring eight times.

Okay we all know that it may take some time for Torreira to settle in to London life, just as his father said the other day, and we also know that N’Zonzi is proven in the Premier League and knows exactly how Emery wants him to play after their time together in Sevilla.

But the worry is; Is N’Zonzi being targeted because Torreira is far from a done deal? Or is he to be competition for the central midfield role.

Oops! I just thought…. Does this mean that Ramsey is going to leave?

Maybe it is the other way around or maybe N’zonzi would play as a CB

If both come and play as midfielders, either Ozil, Elneny or Ramsey might go

      1. Declan

Suits me if any two of them go, preferably not Ozil.
I know N’Zonzi also plays DM but to me he’s more of a Vieira type player, good defensively and offensively.

Elsewhere Torreira’s dad has confirmed it
“It is as good as a fact that Lucas will join Arsenal.
“There are many clubs who contacted us but we have given our word to Arsenal and are very satisfied with what they offered.
“The deal is virtually done and only the arrival of Lucas is remaining.
“Arsenal offered to do the medical examinations in Russia but we decided against it because we felt it’s inconvenient, it is not the right time.”

Admin give it a rest please

I would personally ship out El Neny, Ospina and
Welbeck to help finance a move for a young
winger, perhaps Lozano, Malcolm or Pavon.

I really hope Emery and Co. have a concrete timetable in mind pertaining to Ramseys
contract situation. If he doesnt sign by a
specified date sell him off to the highest
bidder and go after Doucoure or Ndombele.
Arsenals midfield would be more athletic
and balanced without the Welshman imho.

If we sign him, then someone has to go, Am looking at Elneny.
If we pull this off, then we have gone from a soft core to a massively “wicked” spine…

i have no idea how we could line up anymore

    1. Goonerboy

      It definitely is…..

Does N’Zonzi talks mean Torreira is NOT coming to Arsenal?”

Answer: No, it means he is either considered a replacement for Wilshere or El neny is done…

  2. Sean

Someone will definitely leave as we would be more than the required number for the season if we sign both Torreira and Nzozi. Ramsey, Elneny or perhaps Iwobi but it looks more like Elneny as we need the home players to make up the numbers

      1. Sean

I rate him also buy I think he can do with a bit of loan. He needs to get his facts right.

    1. Angus

Elneny would have to go although I doubt these rumours in the 1st place makes little sense with AMN being promoted to 1st team and his position being dm… Ramsey has nothing to do with it how he gets into this discussion is beyond me. Seri/Banega then talk Ramsey.

    1. Angus

no not if AMN is 1st team it makes zero sense unless Elneny/Xhaka go and that is with a 3 man midfield which seems likely but still a push and defo the max.

Belgium used their dominance in the air again, but I’m not sure whether their 3-4-2-1 formation, speed and extra height would work against France

Hazard and Lukaku were excellent in the wings today

If my prediction is correct, the final would be Belgium vs England

    1. Fab

Robert Matnez is tactically genius. Who remembers the match Everton played against Arsenal in 2013? the same formation, with Lukaku playing the false 9, coming from right wing. He murdered Arsenal that day, if I am correct enough it was 4-0 at the end.

I see the same formation and tactics today

      1. Angus

yeah lets not forget Martinez’s failures. I had huge (for me) money on Belgium today too because they are man for man just as talented as Brazil and the prices were a joke. Martinez still has his faults why he is in international and has henry on his staff frankly. Neville was on the Engalnd staff before and we did nothing and he went and failed at management. International is a weird beast. Southgate has done well because he handles our insane media perfectly and has somehow instilled a team spirit in the camp. Tactics matter little they have too short a time with the players for that. Took pep a year to get City on board day in day out.

        1. Angus

Not to mention Van Gaal got insane praise for Hollands performance tactically and went United.. c’mon how many lessons they do not have enough time with players for it to matter its the main reason club football is better because the brazil/belgium/france squads are star studded and france have been pretty awful overall.

will Nzonzi be our new box to box??
if so I still prefer Ramsey . Gud in that B to B role. And Nzonzi is 29.

  5. Henry Root

What a stupid article. The Torreira deal is done. I very much doubt there is truth in the N’Zonzi rumour. You are trying to prey on the anxieties of Arsenal fans. The club is in new hands now. The ditherer has gone .

  6. Durand

I’ll take Torreria “giving his word” to Arsenal as his father said, all done except for medical.

That I believe, not “Sky source” wind up nonsense.
Why anonymous? Because anonymous sources are mostly full of sh!t. His father wouldn’t risk looking like a mug, speaking with such confidence and directness.

      Lol 🙂
      tactical genius ?
      Everton sacked him though.
Mind you Belgium has a very strong team.
I think Southgate losing to Belgium and
avoiding Brazil and France was a smart move 🙂
To be fair the world cup is probably easier to win than the PL right now.
So who knows Arsenal for the title this season
Iwobi and Wellbeck to be the stars 🙂 🙂 🙂

      1. Someone

This World Cup has been poor in the Quality of it’s Football , the big teams have been tactically naive and it is understandable since none of the head coaches are comparable to their counterparts in Big clubs. Compare Spain Head coach to Guardiola , France head Coach to Zidane , Germany Head Coach to Klopp (Although low is actually good tactically , but internal conflicts ruined Germany team this time) , Argentina head Coach to Pochettino or Simeone and etc.

        1. Angus

nonsense the traditional favs are not as strong as the unfancied (Belgium/Croatia/England) and the likes of Sweden/Uruguay/Russia are more than par with the out of form tradition. Just messes with people when its Belgium/Croatia and not Holland/Italy no difference in quality at all. As to coaches international has never attracted coaches in the prime so what is your point?

          1. Angus

Pep literally couldnt do international by the way…. it took a year with daily training to get City on board otherwise they played the same and a bunch of expensive fill in the gaps players. What does he do at international with no time?

            1. Angus

Zidane is the only manager you mentioned I could see translating if he took over this French team after the next euros just before they peak (feel sorry for them and us with young teams going into Qatar because that will be a crab shoot.)

    2. RSH

lmao, Martinez is no genius. Game against Japan was a disaster, the guy played Witsel next to KDB. He knows how to get the best out of Lukaku for sure though. But brilliant players can look make average managers look very good. At the end of the day Belgium has tons and tons of talent that matches that of Brazil.

  8. RSH

Sky hasn’t been as reliable as they used to be. This could be nonsense. Any honestly, we don’t need anymore players going on 30. No resale value and Sevilla have said to want 30-40mill for N’zonzi. I wouldn’t bother and would re-asses team in January. Winger takes priority for me.

  9. Ozziegunner

Ramsey is pontificating over the Arsenal offer and he will be given a deadline to sign or be sold. Maybe the trinity are looking at N’Zonzi as s a replacement for Ramsey as Emery knows he will fit his system of play.
We must remember that Arsenal will have a full program of games next season, so every one in the squad will get opportunities and competition for places is a positive.
