Dortmund issue official statement – We have rejected Arsenal’s attempts “so far”

Well at least we now have certain proof that Arsenal are trying to buy Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Borussia Dortmund. That is the good news, but the bad news is that they have rejected every single one of our approaches “so far”, which gives me hope that there could still be an agreement, although we are definitely running out of time as the end of the month approaches quickly.

Sporting director Michael Zorc has released the following statement on the official Dortmund website:

“We are prepared to implement a transfer under certain parameters – but only if these parameters are fully met. Arsenal has started several attempts so far. We have all rejected so far.

“Either our demands are fulfilled, then there can be another transfer or else they will not be fulfilled and Auba will play in Dortmund until the summer, so it is also discussed and accepted by the Aubameyang family.”

Well you can’t get clearer than that. Dortmund are not going to budge on their price, no matter how long Arsenal try to play their poker faces. But in some ways it is an improvement on their previous stance in that they have publicly told their fans that there are talks in progress about their superstar striker.

It must be just as excruciating for the Dortmund fans as it was for us Gooners when faced with Alexis Sanchez leaving us for Man United last week…

  1. Maybe Arsenal bid like what they did with Luis Suarez and Liverpool:
    – 1st bid: 40,000,000 + 1
    – 2nd bid: 40,000,000 + 2
    – 3rd bid: 40,000,000 + 3
    – and so on and so forth… ?

But no worries, @kev the man a.k.a @RememberResource? a.k.a @Resource has already confirmed that Aubameyang will join Arsenal on Monday at the latest.

    1. I feel like if the transfer does go through, it will be announced on Tuesday. They generally make these announcements on Tuesdays or Fridays.
So my guess is, if it happens by Tuesday all good, otherwise it’s not gonna happen.

    2. I thought it would be done already. Still think it will be done by the end of the window. Pay the damn 65-70 and sign the man this is embarrassing as usual.

      1. Afc has £32m and saved wages of £170k a week from the sales of TW and Coq. So buying PEA is £28m net and his wages from what we hear about the same as the wages of TW and Coq. Why are we carrying on like this?

    3. The Aubameyang trail has suddenly gone cold “like the first chill in the Siberian winter”
The latest stories are all recycled from three days ago with fresh headlines and the same content

      . . . . . . “we spoke to the Aubameyang family and they agree blah blah”. . . . . . “and our final price is 60mil blah blah”. . . . . . . “or he stays till the summer blah blah”

Arsenal Really had me going this time I really thought we would make the triple swoop quickly and hit the park running.

A team like Arsenal is it too much to ask that we have at least three world class attackers a serving international goalkeeper, a Rock hard center back, a midfield Marshall plus a decent supporting cast?

  2. stop embarrassing the club and humiliating the fans u greedy yank … pay the money and move on … or sell up and stick to sports u know something about

    1. Gazidis is in charge of the transfer, together with Mislintat and another guy.

This one will not be on Wenger or Kroenke, regardless of how it pans out.

Not convinced Auba is worth that money. Roughly the same quality as Laca. Ben Yedder of Sevilla would be a more savvy buy. Gives us enough money for a defender and a winger in the summer.

      1. Aubameyang can score from set pieces and can reach higher crosses like Giroud, due to his height. Wissam Ben Yedder is very short like Lacazette, Walcott and Sanchez, so he could struggle like them with Wenger’s tactics.

        1. Auba not worth the money? Providing Wenger plays him down the middle and not on the wing, which is not a guarantee, he’ll score you 25+ goals a season and their’s no where in the world you’ll find a better striker for £50 odd million, some people talk out their backside.

          1. You have no idea how he will adapt to the Premiership .Lacazette hasn’t set the world a light so what makes you think PEA will do any better. At almost 29 he’s not worth £60 million

  3. Arsenal have already bid 52M pounds , just 8M more is not a big issue . If Arsenal had lost against chelsea , auba deal would have been done the next day itself . Wenger has become over-confident with the win against chelsea . Definitely a striker like auba would increase arsenal’s goals .

  4. We will not sign anyone.
Four months is not enough time much less four days.
Still its another nail in the coffin of Wenger – that is the only good thing to come of this.
Anything that pushes Wenger closer to the door must be considered a good thing…

  5. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain £34.20m
    Theo Walcott £20.25m
    Francis Coquelin £12.60m
    Wojciech Szczesny £10.98m
    Gabriel Paulista £9.90m
    Kieran Gibbs £6.75m
    Total : 94.68 mill GBP
Yet we still dont want to pay Dortmund 60 mill for Aubameyang. What is wrong with this club ??

    1. Also got Sanchez wages off, thats about:

      Oxlade-Chamberlain £80k
      Theo Walcott £110k
      Francis Coquelin £60
      Wojciech Szczesny £60k
      Gabriel Paulista £60k
      Kieran Gibbs £60k
      Sanchez £130k
Total : ~ 550k a week, and if we spent

      Kolasinac 100k
      Lacazette 170k
      Mkhitaryan 170k

So we have released almost 150k in weekly wages already, and, earned £50 millions net on transfer fees.

      Where are the players promised?!

      1. Actually,
        Kolasinac is on 150k
        Lacazette is on 200k
        Mkhitaryan is on 180k
        Total 530k
Only 20k has been freed up that will probably go to part of Ozil’s upgraded contract.

        1. You’ve seen their payslips then have you?
Don’t post things you don’t know are true. Are you another kev?

    2. Because we paid 40mn+ for Laca.. so leaves 54.68mn .. hence the bid at 50mn !!!

its a maths equation.. you dont seriously think Kroenke wants to spend his own money do you ????

  6. Wenger/Gazidis/Kroenke. Three names that make me puke. They run the team I love and have supported for 59 years. I don’t like to swear but the worst swearwords apply to those three. The are rubbishing Arsenal’s name and standing. They should be arrested for abuse and corruption. Hunting Channel greedy Kroenke should **** off back to America to his La Rams. Wenger should be given treatment for a Freudian tight ass and delusion. Gazidis should be sacked.

    1. Probably you need another club.

Gazidis and Kroenke are sadly here to stay. Wenger possibly, too if he gets us into the CL next year.

  7. I totally agree. Its really humiliating
Its like Frank Spencer or Basil Fawlty is doing the signings
The Lemar saga was a disaster. The player agreed personal terms and Club were willing to sell. Absolutely pathetic outcome
Now this. If they want £60 mil then pay it
If i knew Alexis was going to be traded in Jan to one of our biggest rivals. I would have demanded he be SOLD in summer to City. That would have helped us get Lemar.
Now we could look really bad if other teams get Moura, Seri, Goretzka, Dzeko etc. United have already got Alexis from us like RVP

We actually made a small profit this summer when we were in desperate need of an attacker, cb and central midfielder. We have sold Alexis, Gibbs, Ox, Theo, Gabriel and got back Kolsanic, Lacazette and Mktharyan. We need at least a top attacker and CB to even it out. Ox was a starter for a lot of matches. Theo was a decent player. Mktharyan is a good start but we need to replace Alexis quality as Lacazette is good but not a HUGE improvement over Giroud yet. At the moment our transfers have made us weaker or at least no where closer to Liverpool, Chelsea, United, City and Spurs

    Wenger just continues his foolishness
ie. Lemar, buying Welbeck instead of loaning him, getting an injured player in a January window, Higuain, Suarez, selling RVP, Nasri, Clichy, Sagna, Toure to our rivals, not replacing Viera etc etc etc. Kroenke, Wenger and Gazidas are like the three stooges

    1. I think you will find wenger has stated he wanted Welbeck on loan !!

So not sure why everyone gives Gazidis such an easy ride !! Gazidis is the one seen at Dortmund and is CEO….so that means he can take an (CHIEF ) Executive (OFFICER) decision !!
Gazidis is the one blowing hot air and saying we will spend huge money every season on players

Gazidis succeeded Dein… when Dein was there he got the job done and Wenger was manager there so why do you all still think its Wenger…

I have not seen any documents or people saying he determines how much to pay !.. we have just recruited a lawyer as well for contracts

We can blame Wenger as much as possible for tactics and team selection but transfers are on Gazidis

  8. Despite the opportunity provided to the media for recycling this saga ad nauseum, two interesting points arise from the latest pronouncements. Firstly, Dortmund are unhappy about the presence of Mislintat. Tough! You don’t get to choose your opponents in any form of negotiation. Secondly, Dortmund appear to be saying its £60M or nothing. Good! Even the clowns doing our negotiating should be able to understand that. They can either put up or shut up – either way we have only got a few days more of tbis tiresome bore to endure.

  9. Dortmund don’t want to sell their top player without a replacement.
If Arsenal offered them 60 million Dortmund will want a striker before allowing him to leave. Don’t you put all of your eggs in one basket, Arsenal.
    There are other strikers avàìlabĺè.

  10. Who was it who refused to pay £18 million to Liverpool and only offerred £15 million for Xabi Alonso? lol.
I wonder if that story is true. Well according to Xabi it was true. Just £3 mil difference for a world class player
Wenger also could have gotten Van Dijk for peanuts (well compared to £70 mil) when he was at Celtic. We were begging him.
And list goes on and on
Actually Wenger even admits a lot of the “I nearly signed Mktharyan, Ibrahimovic, Messi etc etc etc

  11. This is very strange, teams out there know that we have the cash, but we always try to come out as the smart ones by taking things slow, only to ruin everything in the end due of hard feelings

We disrepect temas a lot with our actions

  12. To think wenger said he was happy with his squad even without aubamayeng …. hahahaha.

Yeah , worst side I’ve seen in my lifetime , struggling to claw back points on the spuds to pip them to fifth place , star player just been swapped for a player who was struggling to make Utd’s bench at the end … moved on Walcott and coquelin with no imminent replacements , but wengers happy !!!

I’d say it can’t get any worse , but we are kroenke’s best performing team , the rest of his clubs generally do a lot worse in their leagues , I wonder how far we could potentially sink and it still be acceptable to an owner who is used to garbage clubs ???

    Something to ponder …

  13. If Aubameyang doesn’t come, the team have been downgraded, when we have already been under-performing. This is just un-acceptable, it is clear that people are already not buying tickets because of the the poor performances and most people, including season ticket holders have had enough of paying the highest prices for the lowest performances. Everything has to be a drama with Arsenal, both on and off the pitch. Kroenke OUT!!

  14. Liverpool identified VVD as a player that would strengthen and improve them and paid the asking price to get the deal done.DITTO Manure with Sanchez and Citeh with Laporte.Pretty much sums us up.FFS If Auba will strengthen the TEAM just GET THIS DEAL DONE.

    1. Liverpool paid 75M for a dud.
Lost at home 2-3 in FA cup to Westbrom with VVD playing. They were down 1-3 by halftime and it should have been 1-4 if not for a legitimate goal chalked out by VAR.
BTW they have now lost their last two matches. So I don’t think you should use them as an example.
Klopp is a fraud. Trophyless in 3 1/2 years now but gets no grief from the press unlike Wenger who has 3 cups in 4 years.

      1. Fair point.
Wenger has built up a reputation amongst world class players…they get serious about joining only to be let down last minute. It must piss them off. If Aubamayang didn’t have issues at Dortmund would he want to join Arsenal right now?
I don’t believe that Arsenal with all their resources can’t identify a Kante…a Seri…a Koulibaly…who found kolasinac, I didn’t know of him before we signed him…there must be good players out there who can do the job well…sick of these high profile players that draw media attention with Big egos. Aubamayang would be great but a striker is not our #1 priority right now.
Also we’re heavily reliant on Ozil only for him to leave as well. The whole club is in limbo right now…No Growth…No Harmony…Can’t move forward…Sad times…We can only keep supporting and hope for the best
