Spanish sources continue to insist that Arsenal have pulled out of the race to sign Real Madrid winger Rodrygo, and with good reason. A staggering asking price is now being floated, pushing the Gunners firmly out of contention.
After weeks of optimism surrounding the Brazilian’s potential move to north London, reports now suggest Arsenal’s interest has cooled significantly. Instead, Liverpool are emerging as the most likely destination for the 24-year-old.
Rodrygo is expected to seek a new challenge after falling down the pecking order at the Santiago Bernabéu. While Real Madrid are reportedly open to letting him leave, the player himself is said to be undecided – a stance that may have frustrated Arsenal’s recruitment team.
Liverpool lead the way
New claims suggest it is now virtually impossible for Arsenal to land Rodrygo. He is expected to cost around €100 million, a fee that puts him well out of reach for most clubs without major outgoings.
Spanish journalist Anton Meana shared the update via El Larguero, quoting UK-based correspondent Pablo Montano:
“The Luis Díaz deal to Bayern Munich is well underway, and Liverpool could receive a large fee. At that point, they would enter the bidding for Rodrygo. With English clubs regularly paying €80 million or more, it would not be surprising if a similar figure was paid here. As we’ve said during the week, the Arsenal deal is practically impossible.”

Arsenal steer clear of costly saga
Having already invested £52 million in Noni Madueke, it seems unlikely that Arsenal would spend another £70 million or more on a winger in the same window.
Liverpool may now have a free run at Rodrygo, and in truth, many Gooners will feel the club have avoided a drawn-out and expensive transfer saga.
Rodrygo’s uncertainty over a move, paired with his high valuation and expected wage demands, made the situation increasingly more complex, with Arsenal fans asking ‘Should Arsenal now forget about a move for Rodrygo?‘
With Madueke able to operate on the left and Arsenal still tracking more attainable targets like Xavi Simons and Eberechi Eze, this may turn out to be a smart and pragmatic call from Andrea Berta.
What are your thoughts Gooners?

We had the chance to do something similar by offloading Martinelli to raise funds for Rodrygo.
Everyone keeps saying Madueke will be our left winger because he cost 50m, but I don’t see it that way. He’s just here to rest, Saka
Rodrigo is undecided yet and u want arsenal to sell martinelli when they are not sure if rodrigo will even want to leave madrid let alone choose arsenal over lots of other top clubs coming for him when he has decided to leave spain. U will make a very bad sporting director bro.
I think Noni will have his moments on the left. One thing we’ve lacked on the left is a natural left footed player who can run to the byline and deliver a cross.
I can see a scenario where Martinelli plays for 60 minutes then Madueke comes on to face a tired fullback. Or the reverse. We will have genuine ability to change matches from the bench.
Most importantly, I think there should be a clean slate regarding our wingers. Only Saka will be a guaranteed starter. As for the rest, whoever’s on form wears the shirt.
Our wing options remain not very good. It’s still just Saka after all these signings in terms of convincing wide players. Just one player in the whole squad. Arsenal need to wake up and make another major move because our rivals are not going to have a day off this season. Espescially with Liverpool getting Isak looking pretty likely.
Arsenal probably don’t have the available money or more likely the wage budget. It’s been quite clear that we (Arsenal) are shopping in a slightly different market to Liverpool this summer, and besides I am not fully sure the likes of Wirtz or Isak would even come to Arsenal if we did actually have the budget. Right now Liverpool are the team it seems everyone wants to join in PL
I dont think either players were necessary for us but we do need level raisers in this team. Idk if we’ve signed one besides Zubimendi. Gyokeres is a wait and see, im slightly optimistic on him. But our wide options really have been not good the past couple seasons and just Madueke does not solve them
Our wing options are good. They are just not world class or consistent enough. Upgrades will not be easy to obtain. That’s the issue.
It’s easy to criticise, but what would you suggest that the club do?
I’d give Madueke a chance before labeling him not convincing. Arteta has been known to get the most out of wingers- Sane and Sterling have attributed their development to him during their time together at City.
Also worth mentioning is that players thrive with proper structure around them. Saka has Odegaard,Havertz and White who offer support. By comparison, our left winger is more isolated.
Martinelli thrived when he had Xhaka,Zinchenko and Jesus who liked to drift to the left. Gyokeres likes to drift left. Zubimendi can pass to the left and offer some of what Xhaka offered. The addition of these two players should improve our left wing dynamics and get the most out of Martinelli or whoever plays there.
Well,if Liverpool sign Isak who they did covet, then I think it highly unlikely to also sign Rodrygo. It would be a ball park figure amounting to £230/250m + wages on top.
I am confident Arsenal will sign Rodrygo.
But we aren’t badly off.
I hope we (Arsenal) will sign Rodrygo
