Eintracht Frankfurt v Arsenal match preview and predicted score

Based on the matchday squad and the manner of the draw against Watford at the weekend it is expected that Unai Emery will be putting out a fairly strong team later today in the Europa League clash with Eintracht Frankfurt.

It is difficult to know what sort of team the Spaniard will be putting out, especially with his very strange decision to rest Mesut Ozil, no one can say that the man is not full of surprises.

The advantage of keeping everyone guessing is that the opponents will have no idea the sort of line up or formation that Emery will be going with.

On the assumption that the coach goes with a strong lineup and that he plays both Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Nicolas Pepe from the start I expect Arsenal to go on the front foot and be positive.

This could be a risky option, Eintracht is an attacking team themselves, they love to utilise the wings and that will put the Arsenal full-backs under pressure and the truth is that neither Ainsley Maitland-Niles or Sead Kolasinac have covered themselves in glory this season.

In better words, this game could come down to a very simply calculation, the team that scores more wins. The problem with that from an Arsenal perspective is that their defence is very vulnerable. There is a chance Rob Holding and/or Calum Chambers will start but that will not guarantee a strong defence from Emery’s men either.

It must be noted that Eintracht is not world-beaters, they are not Bayern Munich and can be beaten but neither are they walkovers. This is going to be a tough game for both teams.

All things considered, a draw would suit both sides.

Predicted score 2-2

  1. This is what it’s all about playing the great Frankfurt away from home on a Thursday night .doesnt get any bigger than this .
On topic I will go 1-4 and fans go into rapture how good Emery is and all is forgotten till we fck up again on Sunday .

    1. True Dan kit.. I agree with you. Fans will explode. Then thrash Villa 3:0, they will start singing “..in Emery we trust..”. Pure plastic fans

      1. If Emery could keep his winning streaks after the Old Trafford game, we have to applaud him

We should give him credits when it is due

  2. I think Europa, FA & Carabao cups will see some of them like Mustafi, Chambers, Gabriel, Saka, Smith, John-rues, Matt. The ones I would wish to be included by Emery are Balogun and Burton.

  3. Because Emery just brings four CBs, I think he would use a two-CB formation. Which hopefully 4-2-3-1, because the team are not accustomed with 4-3-3 and the diamond formation is a failure

I just hope Pepe would not be discouraged if he cannot do anything special again. Nelson should be able to be his strong competitor for the RW position

  4. I personally see Unai Emery taking the Europa less seriously this year, sorry guys!

I’m leaning towards him trying to focus on top 4 finish in the league this year. I think he knows the squad is lacking in depth and for that reason I can see him rotating quite a lot with a mixture of youth. Expect some more of those who played on Sunday to be rested!!

Unai will try to keep up in the Europa Cup for as long as he can but when we’re out he will have a fitter squad for the run in after January..

  5. I’d like to see

    ………..Leno

    Niles..Chambers..Holding..Kols

    Torreira……Wilock/Guendouzi

    Pepe….Ceballos..Nelson/Martnli

    ……..Aubameyang
