Every game is a must-win for Arsenal from now on……

Arsenal may be the closest challengers to Chelsea at the top of the table, but they are still a massive 8 points behind, with Liverpool 9 behind, and Tottenham one below them. Realistically every team from second to sixth will be praying that Liverpool beat Chelsea at Anfield tonight, and then Arsenal do the same on Saturday, but is that really feasible?

Well you never know in football, but the Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino fears that if Chelsea do beat Liverpool and then Arsenal, then the title race is all over bar the shouting. “If they win both games it will be difficult to stop them,” Pochettino said.

“We need to be focused on our game,” he added. “The most important thing is to get the three points for us.”

Having said that, the Spurs boss knows that all his team can do is keep picking up the points and hoping for a slip-up from the Blues. “If we win against Sunderland and Middlesbrough (on Saturday) we keep the same gap,” he said. “We need to feel that the three points are important for them but they are for us too. This is a very important game.”

The fact is that if Chelsea do win both, and Tottenham win their two (easyish) games, then Pochettino’s side will end the week in second place, with Arsenal and Liverpool dropping back. In my mind Arsenal simply MUST beat Chelsea (and Watford lol) and then we will be the only team with a real hope of catching Chelsea.

If we don’t then I guess its back to the fight for a Top Four place yet again….

    1. If not mistaken we have only played the first round of games among the top 7 teams. This means we still have the following “big games”:

      1. Chelsea – Away
      2. Man U – Home
      3. Man City – Home
      4. Liverpool – Home
      5. Spurs – Away
      6. Everton – Home

We still have a long way to go but a win tonight and on Saturday coupled with a Chelsea loss against pool would put us back in business.

  1. I very strongly believe that Admin will not make a great football manager out of himself(i hope his gender is Male) because in modern football you take every game as they come and not fast forward to the next few games forgetting a game is on hand, No disrespect.
I feel confident that Arsenal will manage to win Watford with a comfortable 3 goals lead at the very least.

  2. @ Pablo, we have Liverpool away and not home. They defeated us at Emirates in the first game of the season.

However, every match is like a final. Let’s approach games that way. On a bad day, any team can defeat anyone.. Weather small or big club.

  3. Obviously I want us to beat Chelsea at the Bridge, but I just cannot see it happening, because Arsenal have been so poor in the big games this season. With only ONE win so far from eight big games, coupled with six very poor performances out of the seven games we didn’t win (possibly even seven poor performances, as the Spurs game was debatable), I wouldn’t say it’s looking good. Our only saving grace, is that solitary win came against Chelsea. Since then however, Conte has changed their system for the better, and are a completely different team from the one we beat.

Realistically speaking, I think we should beat Watford at home tonight, and although Liverpool have had an horrific week, they have performed well in the big games this season, so Chelsea dropping points at Anfield isn’t too far fetched. I feel a score draw is best Arsenal can do at the Bridge, which means at the end of the week we could cut the lead to five or six points. Hopefully it’ll be a great week, and we’ll end it only two points behind.

  4. I would like to say all games fr arsenal right now are big games and i hate when fans want to look ahead, like too far ahead, when in fact we have watford not chelsea, not the tots , not liverpool, but Watford so lets do our job
