Arsenal were long linked with Alexander Isak, but Newcastle United consistently deterred potential suitors with substantial financial demands. Clichy’s Verdict on Isak and Gyökeres
Nevertheless, former Arsenal defender Gaël Clichy has expressed the view that Isak would have been a more natural fit for Mikel Arteta’s system. Speaking via Metro Sport, Clichy remarked: “I don’t think he is the sort of player Arsenal are used to, I don’t think in the link-up side of the game he will provide what they need. I think someone like Isak was more suited but he [Gyökeres] will add something Arsenal didn’t have. When you look at the players they have brought, they want to use those lines, use those wingers, create one-on-ones and get the ball into the box quickly. I think we will see a new Arsenal, an Arsenal that is more looking towards those situations.”
His comments reflect a broader debate over whether Gyökeres can replicate Isak’s blend of technical quality and tactical flexibility. Yet, there is also recognition that Arsenal’s evolving approach may benefit from Gyökeres’s direct style and physical presence.

Arteta would have ruined Isak if he had came here
I still doubt if you are an Arsenal fan, your criticism is too toxic and destructive
It’s not criticism though is it ,it’s what believe so I’ve said it .
Depends on how Arteta decides they should play. In our current state of play a striker is a facilitator not a primary scorer, so Havertz is the best fit based on tactics.
If we play open and direct like in ’22/’23 then Gyokeres is the best fit, since he is a finisher and will have plenty of chances.
We have quality depth in every single position, spoiled for choices honestly. So it all comes down to Arteta’s tactics and whom he selects to start. Everything is in place to compete, let’s see what we can bring home to the Emirates.
Your last paragraph sums it up as I see it Durand.
MA has been given all the tools he needs to bring home silverware this season and when one actually puts names into positions, it’s very difficult to choose, say, White or Timber or Califiori or Skelly for two examples.
Even the keeper’s role is up for grabs, when you think we have the one time most expensive goalkeeper currently keeping the bench warm!
I want to see MA starting to let this group of outstanding players gel together in the way Arsene Wenger did with the Invincibles, as I’m of the opinion there is the possibility of seeing that kind of result happening.
. The only impediment that I see stopping this, is injuries and we now have, I think, eight players out.

The memorial is incredibly moving
SueP, at the time I was a high level financial professional in the U.S. and it is still difficult to believe the events which unfolded that horrific morning at the world’s financial epicenter, the pentagon, and with Flight 93. Still incomprehensible.
SueP, I never expected to be so moved by the memorial to those people who perished on the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
Having had one of my daughters move to the USA many years ago (thankfully she moved back and has a season ticket!!) I was expecting something more “American” if that makes sense and not upsetting anyone.
But the tranquility and sombre atmosphere as one walks around to pay one’s respect, is quite humbling and thought provoking.
The only other place where I felt such feelings was when I went to the concentration camps and tried to understand the logic of some human beings.

Saka, Saliba, Havertz, and Jesus are still the ones we’re waiting on.
