Ex-Gunners advises Aubameyang after he lost the Arsenal captaincy

William Gallas has offered a piece of advice to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after the latter lost the Arsenal captaincy.

The Frenchman was in a similar situation to the Gabon star when he played for the Gunners.

Gallas admits he didn’t accept the decision to strip him of the captaincy initially, but he eventually had to accept the club’s choice.

He doesn’t want Auba to follow his example and dwell on the verdict, rather, he encourages the striker to humble himself and contribute to the team.

Asked to advise Aubameyang, Gallas said via Sun Sports: “Keep focused, work hard and get back to your best level.

“I didn’t accept it at the beginning, because it was not for the right reason.

“It’s difficult for me. That’s why it was difficult for me to accept it.

“But you have to say, ‘OK. The club and the coach, took that decision, and I have to find everything to refocus myself’.

“Sometimes it can help you. Sometimes the armbands can be a little bit too heavy.

“The captaincy can be very difficult. It doesn’t change anything because all people want are good performances on the pitch, captain or not.”

Just Arsenal Opinion

Gallas has given a bit of good advice from the point of view of someone who has been in a similar situation before.

Auba still has a year-and-a-half left on his current deal at the Emirates and he might not get another club that would sign him.

Staying focused and ending his spell at the Emirates with a bang should be all he thinks about right now.
