AH, the FA CUP…seen as not relevant enough for The Arsenal by some during these last few years!!!!!!
Was it just two seasons ago we lifted the famous trophy, despite having dross players, no defence and indivdual players with no heart, cowards, lacking cojones, no leaders, a souless owner and a manager who should have left a decade ago?
In actual FACT, that description of our club players and manager, somehow managed to win the famous trophy three times in four years – but it was of no real value so it seemed.
So forgive me if I see no value in worrying about the fa cup, or top four finishes come to that, we have much more pressing issues, like avoiding relegation… now that we have “Our Arsenal back”.
Funny old game eh???
A realistic voice amongst a sea of delusion.
100% agreed.
Brilliant Ken. What can I say…
No Ken, not two seasons. It was three years and 7 months to be accurate! But you are correct that the FA CUP IS A TROPHY and I do not know any fan who cares nothing about winning it. The FA and Prem league have between them devalued it, in THEIR eyes but NOT in ours. However, despite winning it 7 times, which was a great achievement by Wenger, it is equally true that the title is about the best team out there and the cup has lots of luck attached to winning it. The draw is a lottery as we all know and sometimes it goes for us, sometimes not. But the Prem is not a lottery and will therefore always vastly trump(sorry for that word! And sorrier still for the planet!) the Cup. Had we had a serious title challenge or two in Wengers last six or seven years, even without winning it, many of us would have thought differently about him. But we did not! And it is on how close you come to the title that managers at our level are rightly judged. The cup is lovely and seven are lovelier still but they are NOT titles.
Incidentally , you mention avoiding relegation Ken. I doubt you are in a minority at all who have certainly considered the possibility. I certainly have, at least. More likely next seson unless proper action is taken by those in charge. Better teams than how we are currently playing have been relegated, for sure.
But Jon, the question must be, how did we win it at all, with the owner, manager, players we had at the time…according to some fans descriptions of these people that I described, using your words, anyway?
Whether the draw was favourable or not we had to meet the big boys at some time or another didn’t we?
The last cup final, as a PERFECT example, saw us meet the newly crowned champions chelsea and we won it yet again, AFTER beating city in the semi-final!!!!
That final was won with the (according to you again Jon) dross players such as Mertesacker…who was playing his first game for ages and Holding (yet another AW dross player) as our two CB’s for the first time ever!!!
Once again, the most sensible of our fans will know that for our club to compete over a season with the likes of city and chelsea’s buying power since 2005, is nigh on impossible, especially as you have been so forceful and correct in your criticism of kronkies ownership and spending record.
Why didn’t you see this, as a realist, right from the beginning?
As a REALIST, I have always recognised that FACT and was so grateful for the fa cup wins and top four finishes, under a manager who kept us in that stable position for so long, while other fans became UNREALISTIC!!!
Only now, as we most certainly face the prospect of relegation, does the realisation of what WAS achieved become so apparent to the majority of us – and, I remind you once again Jon (in your own words) supposedly with dross players, no defence and individual players with no heart, cowards, lacking cojones, no leaders, a souless owner and a manager who should have left a decade ago…WHAT A MANAGER AW REALLY WAS OR WHAT A TEAM OF PLAYERS WE HAD – got to be one or the other hasn’t it?
My favourite competition !………………….we are the record holders in the oldest most famous club cup competiton in the world !…………………..something to be proud of !πππππππππππππ
The tipping to me concerning Wenger was when he put up a shadow of a team away to Nottingham Forest and we got hammered, dont disrespect the greatest cup competition, because we are currently shite at everything else, this is OUR cup……….The FA Arsenal Cup !πππππππππππππ

I donβt care anymore who they gave us π€·π»ββοΈ…we make every team that plays us look like Barcelona
