Finally, some very positive news for Arsenal fans to celebrate

It looks increasingly likely that we have finally found a new technical director following the news that former Gunner Edu has agreed in principle to take on the role in the summer.

We have been looking to replace Sven Mislintat, who left suddenly in February after just over one year in the job and had pinned our hopes on Monchi filling the position, however, he ultimately decided to return to Sevilla instead.

Edu, who was a member of the Invincibles, is currently a coordinator for the Brazil national team and is set to join us after the Copa América, which is being held in his native Brazil this year.

There are still some final details to be ironed out and one more meeting is required before our former midfielder puts pen to paper but the signs are that this is just a formality.

This is good news for us, Edu knows what Arsenal is all about, the type of player the fans desire and what sort of football we demand.

Director of football, Raul Sanllehi, and the managing director, Vinai Venkatesham, are attempting to build a brand new structure at the club that fits in with the vision of Unai Emery and with his historical links to the club, Edu will have a very important part to play.

Hopefully, this will be the start of a new era at the Emirates.

    1. barcelona needs to spend big next season to catch up with media fav liverfool

  1. Good news.

OT. The Liverpool comeback highlights how bad and pathetic Arsenal has become over the years. We can’t even beat crystal palace at home. We have to be honest with ourselves, our club is just not serious about winning anymore. We are not even trying to keep up with the big teams. Soon 5th or 6th place finish will be the norm. For a peace of mind I suggest all fans adjust their mindsets and lower their expectations from now on like most fans of the other 15 teams in the league. Arsenal is not a BIG club anymore, Arsenal is not going to win the league or champions league anytime soon. We have no right to be in the UCL with this average team.

    1. The mentality of the Arsenal management is truly uninspiring. I always wonder, did they sack Wenger because of underperformance or simply because the fans forced their hand when they voted with their feet and refused to watch the dross served up every week? Does being in Europa really bother them? The board must communicate their ambition and desire for success coz honestly it feels like it’s only our rivals are progressing while we are just moving sideways. I sincerely hope they have targets lined up already to replace jokers like Mkhitaryan, Xhaka, El Neny, Lichtsteiner and Mustafi.

    2. My thoughts exactly. Looking at Enfield last night, I thought to myself, I’m probably never ever going to see that as an Arsenal fan. We’ve become a bus station for top footballers as It’s painfully clear that Arsenal isn’t a club that can bring a player top honours. I’ll be stunned if we don’t lose either Laca or Auba in the next two seasons. If the management don’t overpay them, they’ll bugger off in the next two seasons.

  2. The mentality displayed by Liverpool is truly amazing! 2 finals in 2 years, dispatching big teams like Bayern and Barca. Now they have a strong chance of winning it..Unbelievable. The club is managed so well, hungry and mentally strong players who respect the badge and give everything they got and not 350K a week players who put in a shift whenever they feel like it. Credit where due, Liverpool deserve this trophy.

    1. Can we dare say Liverpool is the best team in the world right now 🙁 so much change in four years. With the right backing from the owners of course and a good club management.

    2. Arsenal fell asleep after the Invicibles happened and they are still stuck with the old systems

New management have come to make changes, but they need time to get rid of the bad purchases from the previous management

I hope the new people examine their targets thoroughly before deciding to buy new players

  3. The problem is with the owner of the club, stingy with expenditure to buy adequate good quality footballers.

  4. Arsenal as a team lacks ambition and it’s because of the caliber of players we sign.If we can sign two CBs,Three game changing Midfielders and two out wingers,we can at least start from there.

  5. A bigger problem with Arsenal right now is so called ‘fans’ who make Arsenal look small-time with their constant whinging and moaning.
How can anyone perform in such a negative environment?

  6. This is like the same kind of “good news” that they were bringing on a new string quartet for the evening dance on the titanic …

  7. As far as I’m concerned.. this really has been a crap month for football… I’m absolutely gutted.. we’re ? Liverpool are flying… we’ve got huge problems, everywhere I look, I’m reminded of them.. when is it going to get better??

The only thing that’ll help, is City winning the PL

    1. Morning Sue, good luck at work today with all the gloating bin dippers.
My local pub in London Colney, yes near our training ground, is full of Liverpool supporters (don’t know how that happened) and they are going to be unbearable today. You have my sympathy ?

      1. Thanks Declan.. it’s going to be awful… I can imagine your pub will be just as bad though… imagine Liverpool fans with alcohol inside them!! They’ll get louder & louder!! ?
You’ll be needing some of my earplugs!!
You have my sympathy too! And just imagine if they win it…. actually let’s not ?

  8. Love Edu, graceful player, respect to him and the invincibles. I am not convinced with Emery, I rather prefer Jose Mourinho even for a year if he can deliver the EPL or the UCL (if ever we qualify) and install a wining mentality with our players.Remember he got the best out of Ozil during their Real Madrid days and Ozil respects him. He did give Utd the Europa and one league Cup in his short stint there. If Emery cannot pass the Valencia test, he should resign immediately. He spent 70 grand to fix the defense, yet we conceded similar amount of goals as last year. Let us not forget we are in 5th is only because United have been poor and not because we are in great form.

    1. Hahaha. I swear you are very funny. Jokes.
Talking about “Bring in Mourinho to bring win us th UCL or EPL.”.

Might as well bring back wenger so that he can make go another season unbeaten. Invincibles.
      Lol

  9. Need to stop picking our hopes that ozil and mkhitaryan will come good, both are now in their 30s and rarely look like getting back to their best, sell them both, along with xhaka and Elneny use that money to get a new dynamic no. 10 and central playmaker
Then use all of our transfer kitty on a forward like Dembele or Saha, who can play out wide if required. Use Chambers as back up to Torreira at DM with the likes of Guendozi willock iwobi and smith-rowe backing up the 2 new signings. Nelson and Nketiah should also be promoted to the first team to support the new signing Lacazette and Aubameyang.
As for the defence release Lichsteiner extend Monreal for 1 year then sell him, sell koscielny, mustafi and Jenkinson to bring a top centre back and a decent left back. In goal sell ospina Martinez and macey to replace the retiring Cech and rival Leno. Then Go 352
    GK Leno, New Buy
CB New Buy, Sokratis Holding Mavropanos Pleguzuelo Ballard
    RWB Bellerin Maitland-niles
    LWB New Buy, Kolasinac
    DM Torreira Chambers
    CP New Buy, Guendozi Willock
    AM New Buy, Iwobi Smith-Rowe
    Forwards Lacazette Aubameyang
    New Buy, Nelson Nketiah

  10. I’ll be happy if the club manages to get rid of the Sunday League Football nonces that are defiling the Arsenal shirt. We can literally sign zero players and only promote the u23s, u21s, as long as the money-draining-wouldn’t-make-it-into-the-League-2-side players like Mustafi, Mkhi, Elneny, Jenko, as well as the players that are waaaay past their prime like Monreal (no longer mr. consistent, I’m really sorry, I like the guy) and Lichtsteiner, maybe even Koscielny. AND, let’s not forget the own-goal maestro Granit Xhaka, who’s paid around 100k a week to be the midfielder with most errors that lead to an opposition goal, he’s got to go as well.

  11. I doubt Edu has the experience to do the job. Hard to believe we did not want to give this title to Sven.

    1. He doesn’t have the experience ,what he does have is the arsenal DNA ,the DNA where we don’t spend any money ,Sven obviously would have wanted to spend money that’s why he left and wasn’t offered the job
The thing with the arsenal board is they like to treat themselves to nice pay outs but they don’t like to treat the fans ,disgusting snakes ? the lot of them ,headed up by the worst of them all .

  12. For its the ambition, determination that they squad is lacking. Liverpool yesterday’s victory is a perfect example, they didn’t have their star man but performed beyond everyone’s expectations, the team spirit has to be right

  13. There is nothing wrong with our team…. The coach just needs to stick to one formation that works…. For now based on the type of players we have, the best formation is 3-5-2. If we stick to this formation we wouldnt need to spend so much to be back in contention for titles. We would only need to sign a good right back as back up for bellerin. Sign Felipe Anderson from west ham to play the ozil role behind the two strikers. He is as inteligent as ozil and with more strenght which is a needed recipe for success in the epl. The two last signings will be dunk from brighton and nuno neves from wolves. All this signings will not cost us 100M and they already have premier league experience. Those to be sold are….. Ozil, jenkinson, mykitaryan, when all players are fit our best 11 would be 1. Leno. 3- Holding Socratis Dunk. 5 Bellerin Neves Toreira Anderson Kolasinac. 2 Auba Laca… This team is strong both physically and mentally to contend for titles.

  14. How is it that Arsenal are not breaking the door down at Leverkusen for Julian Brandt is beyond me, a 22 y.o German international available for 22 million in the summer. Capable of playing across the midfield and forward line. A replacement for Ramsey,Mkhitaryan,Ozil,Iwobi and even Welbeck all in one player and yet Fraser seems to be name at the top of the clubs agenda just a bit weird imo.
I also hope Edu is able to ensure that we start getting value for money in the transfer market and that we make better use of the talent we have available to us in the club’s academy especially when compared to the level of performance of the 1st team because arsenal DEFINITELY can’t afford another Gnabry type situation let alone Jadon Sancho and there’s a number of youngstars with the potential to do just that.
