Forget the internationals – Watch Arsenal v Real Madrid Legends live instead

Although there are quite a few Arsenal players involved in the international friendlies this week, I personally have very little enthusiasm for these games after just four games of the Premier League season.

But we can still watch the Arsenal on Saturday! Arsenal Legends are playing Real Madrid Legends at the Emirates. You can get tickets at the door, and for our Worldwide fans it is also being streamed live on Arsenal Player to all digital member (no cost to sign up). Kick off is at 2pm…

One of our legends, Robert Pires, will definitely be playing on Saturday, and he revealed that he was a Real Madrid fan as a child. He told Arsenal.com: “I’ve been a Madrid fan for a long, long time because my mum is Spanish and all of my family members follow Real Madrid,”

“Of course, my first idol was my Dad, but after that it was Michel, who was for me one of the best midfielders in the world.

“At this moment I said ‘Wow, this guy is very good and I want to be like him.’ I wanted to be a professional because Michel is very good and a very good example, so he used to play for Madrid and that’s why I’ve followed them for a long, long time.

“He was elegant on the field with very good technique, vision and ability with the ball. I said ‘Wow, I love this guy because he plays simple’ and I don’t know why, but the feeling with him is that he was very good and I said to my Mum, ‘Look, I want to be like Michel in a few years.’”

There are likely to be many other Arsenal stars like Emmanuel Petit, Ray Parlour, Gilberto, Lauren, David Seaman and Nicolas Anelka, and Kanu was the star when they last played…

So either get on down to the Emirates at Saturday lunchtime or get on to Arsenal Player in time for the 2pm KickOff….
