Former Gunner has no confidence in Arsenal getting a result at Leicester City

Charlie Nicholas fears Leicester City will blow Arsenal away.

Charlie Nicholas fears that Arsenal would be humiliated in their weekend game against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium.

The Gunners have been struggling lately and haven’t won any of their last three league games. They put in another limp performance in their last competitive game against Vitoria in the Europa League and Charlie Nicholas doesn’t see things getting better for them.

Leicester City is currently 3rd in the league table and have been the division’s second-highest scorers after Manchester City. Jamie Vardy has already netted 10 league goals including four in his last two league games.

For Nicholas, it won’t be hard for the Foxes to expose how poor Arsenal have defended this season and he fears for the worse.

“It’s seriously worrying,” Nicholas told Sky Sports News. “They’ve got Leicester on Saturday evening and at the moment it looks like they could blow them away.

“Arsenal fans have travelled and watched another basic performance. I like the manager a lot but I said the same with Arsene Wenger: things have to change. He [Emery] has to be stronger and sort these problems out.

“Arsenal have lost the urgency to go and win football matches. The defensive frailties have been there for 18 months, if not longer, and things need to get sorted now. Arsenal fans are starting to get pretty fed up.”

Arsenal has been linked with a move for Brendan Rodgers and the former Liverpool boss may see this game as an opportunity for him to show his future employers what they are missing.

Emery also knows that his job is on the line and another poor showing in this game could see the Spaniard sacked.

      1. Gotanidea, where did you read that Charlie Nicholas said that Arsenal have lost their urgency since 2006?

I have read and re-read what was said above and just can’t find it anywhere…mind you, if a team had finished in the top four eleven times since then, reached the knock out stages of the CL every season since 2011 and won the fa cup three times in four years, I wouldn’t have expected a professional player and seasoned pundit to make such a ridiculous statement…would you?

  2. Nicholas is right, Arsenal have lost their urgency since 2006

We need a new manager with a powerful will to oppose the board when required, to change the club’s lenient and complacent culture. He should also be resolute in implementing discipline towards the players

Regarding the match in Leicester, I believe we could surprise Leicester by using a three-CB formation and I predict Emery would choose 3-4-1-2 to play safe

  3. Only way to have a chance is to start these players ( Ceballos is out):
    Leno
    Bellerin
    Tierney
    Holding
    Luiz/Chambers
    Torreira
    Guendouzi
    Ozil
    Pepe
    Aubameyang
    Lacazette

I agree with above that a loss could seal Emery’s fate

  4. I think having a extra midfielder will be better than a extra cb.

    Leno
    Beller. Chambers luiz. Tierney

    Guddenz. Torrer
    Ozil
    Pepe. Lacca. Auba.

  5. No one can have confidence in a win after the last few weeks but this is football. I think a win would be fantastic, a draw would be fine, a defeat could be defining. We all know we have a team that can go there and win but also we have the same team that could go there and lose. Big game in more ways than one.

  6. There is simply absolutely no way we’re going to beat Leicester… Except maybe we pray for a red card!!!!!

Have always said our midfield is championship-level standard. Now look at how one injury to Ceballos has put our midfield in chaos!!!!

The only way to solve this midfield conundrum is to play an extra defender in a 3-5-2 formation. And Guendouzi just does not cut it for me. I also thought I would never choose Bellerin again but hey,,, no available options…

Finally, Pepe…Lacazette…Aubameyang WILL NEVER WORK no matter how much the fans love it.

    Martinez
    Mustafi…Mavropanos….Luiz
    Bellerin…Torreira…Ozil….Niles…Tierney
    Pepe…….Aubameyang

  7. “The defensive frailties have been there for 18 months, if not longer” is a understatement by “Champagne Charlie”. Defensive frailty has cost Arsenal titles since Gilberto Silva was not replaced.
