Four former players and a supercomputer predict Arsenal v Aston Villa result

Arsenal will be back in Premier League action on Sunday when they host Aston Villa at the Emirates and as usual, the pundits have been making their predictions.

It is an Arsenal win across the board for the pundits, though there is some significant differences in the predicted scoreline.

Sky Sports and former Gunner Charlie Nicholas is going with an entertaining game and reckons that Villa will find the back of the net twice, however, the Scot has Arsenal scoring a huge four times and goes with an Arsenal 4-2 win.

BBC pundit Mark Lawrenson not only thinks that Unai Emery’s men will win but has them keeping a clean sheet as well and predicts Arsenal to emerge the winners 2-0.

Former Liverpool ace Michael Owen does not do scorelines and just predicts outcomes and he is on the Arsenal bandwagon going for a home win tomorrow.

This is the first time that we have included Arsenal legend Ian Wright and unlike the other pundits, he does his predictions via video and has his former club winning 2-1.

OK, the much-derided BT Sports Supercomputer also goes with an Arsenal win but as usual opens itself up to ridicule with a 6-1 win for Arsenal, though it should be said, as I do every week, these predictions were made pre-season.

So, there you have, unanimous across the board for an Arsenal win which makes a change in attitude from the pundits who have hardly been backing the Gunners this season.

To be truthful it would have been a surprise if any of the pundits had gone with a Villa win, Arsenal are very strong at home and on the back of an impressive win over Eintracht Frankfurt midweek, they will enter this game fully confident of registering a comfortable home win.

  1. Mustafi gets the start this weekend for me. Anyone feel without his lapses he’s our 2nd best cb behind Holding? I feel he’s better in the tackle and the air than both Luiz and Sokratis.

  2. So Charlie thinks we’ll win 4-2.. i wonder if their 2 will be a gift from us??!!!
I’d love it if we scored that many though & the computer thinks we’ll score 6 ? has it malfunctioned?!!

    1. That supercomputer has predicted three of our EPL games correctly, so I believe it would be right again

Aston Villa rely solely on the long distributions to their tall players, hence Arsenal would most likely dominate the ball possession at home

As long as Emery doesn’t field four playmakers at once, I think we can steal a quick goal in the first twenty minutes

      1. Who knows what he’ll do!! Probably go all defensive again ?

    2. What do you think? We do weekend giveaways, we are part football club part charity organization. Must always give away goals

      1. We’re too considerate, Eddie ?

  3. Owen expecting us to win!!!!!!! What on earth?!!!!

  4. Arsenal to win 2-0 COYG

  5. Supercomputer is no genious, Aston Villa or any team in this League and under can score against us.

We gunners, scoring goals, we have Big gun Auba, but you see often enough now that image of players being frustrated when their efforts and joy of scoring and winning; vanished with a Big ass hole in defense, ruining a all game and week to prepare it.

Prediction is for us to score and conceid, my hope and Auba’s goal is to make sure we score 3, to avoid a draw or lose.

Reality, even with 2 goals, we are in danger, as soon they score one, they and we know we in danger all the way til last whistle.

Prediction is Auba leaves for Real next window as he should have on previous one. Ceballos to stay with us will help seal deal.

Instead to put 80M on Pepe, we should have brought Ndombele and koulibaly, they wanted Ospina and Kouli was really happy to Come and leave those racist ignorant monkeys in Italy…

Laca is injured but he is our best player overall, predict him to be League player or this season once he is back and done with that injury…

Umtiti us for sale, emre can wants out of juve. We must buy both and strengh center defensive area. Both for 30M would be a good buy with 2 players seeking to come back hard for revenge.

  6. It won’t be a comfortable win, because that would be too nice to the fans.

  7. Aston Villa to find the net twice (0-1HT) and I agree. Arsenal defence is certain to tie itself in knots at some stage.
Aubauyang (?) will probably get a brace including one from the spot and I expect Pele to make his goal debut in the latter stages of the game. 3-2 to Arsenal
