Full update on Arsenal injury news ahead of Napoli game

As things stand right now Arsenal has just two injury concerns outside of the long term injured, ahead of Thursday nights Europa League clash with Napoli.

It has been confirmed that Laurent Koscielny, who has a bruised foot and Granit Xhaka with a groin strain are being assessed ahead of the game.

Hector Bellerin, Rob Holding and Danny Welbeck are all still recovering after surgery on their respective injuries.

So, just the two are a worry, Koscielny and Xhaka, that means we will be as close to fielding our strongest team as possible. That said, Unai Emery has a history of confounding us with his team selections and it would be no surprise if he does just that once again.

It is hard to believe that he will not play Ozil, Ramsey, Aubameyang and Lacazette in such a crucial game, however, even if he does it has to get the midfield right this time, which means not playing Elneny and Guendouzi together, that just does not work.

But I will leave team selection for another article, for now, the injury news is good and we have good reason to feel optimistic.

  2. If the injury situation is as Admin has reported it, that is good news. We need our strongest possible team for this game. This will mean playing Sokratis and Koscielny in defence and Xhaka and Torreira in midfield. Elneny should be rested. When we have a fully fit squad we can stand up to any team. We need to be positive and take the game to Napoli.

  3. Nobody has been talking about Torreira for this match. Is he injured or suspended? If he is fit and available , then our midfield is sorted. Who joins him between Xhaka, Ramsey, Guendouzi, Ozil and Elneny is the issue.

The defence needs Ainsley Maitland-Niles more thanks the midfield and he definitely should stay with that assignment. Our attack should be as potent as possible and that might mean unleashing both Auba and his parner-in-crime Alexander Lacazette. Iwobi should join them.
