Good news for Arsenal following international break

One of the biggest worries for football fans, when there is an international break, is players returning with injuries or knocks, well, it is good news for Arsenal with all their players returning injury-free as confirmed by the club.

Club statement

All players who were on international duty will have returned to us by Thursday morning. No international players have reported injuries during this period.

However, all international players will be assessed ahead of Sunday’s match.

This is indeed good news, it had been reported that Lucas Torriera, Granit Xhaka and Nicolas Pepe all had injuries, though in the case of Pepe it was later confirmed that it was just a fitness issue.

This official confirmation from the club means that all the scaremongering from the press was basically fake news and can now be dismissed out of hand.

Unai Emery will still be without Hector Bellerin, Rob Holding, Dinos Mavropanos and Kieran Tierney but other than those four will have a full-strength squad to choose from ahead of the game with Watford on Sunday.

Holding is actually back in full training and it will be just a matter of time before he is included in the matchday squad, Bellerin, Tierney and Mavropanos are all due to be in full training before the end of the month.

There has been no specific update on the fitness of Pepe so one has to assume that he is fit to play on Sunday against the Hornets.

Overall a very positive update from the club.

  1. when pepe becomes fully fit,I expect him to perform better, one of the best wingers in Europe…. three points this weekend will do….Emery take note

    1. His skills and movements in the last two matches look very promising. His form was bad in the Tottenham match, but I believe it was caused by the wrong tactic

The possibility of having Aubameyang/ Lacazette, Ceballos, Martinelli and him in the starting line-up is mouth-watering

If Emery has the guts to field four of them in Watford, I think the opponents would get behind the ball and try to lure us in

      1. Give Unai Ronaldo and Messi and within a month he will turn them alike Bendtner and Gervinho with his tactical mastery.

      2. Great news about Holding (& Hector, of course).. And I’m counting down the days until we finally see Tierney play!! All good news then.
Looking forward to (hopefully) seeing Pepe score his first goal for us on Sunday, followed by a few nut megs & some skills of an obscene nature! Come on Nico ?

  2. good news but arsenalfc should continue playing bravely as the have played against tottenham last sunday

  3. I don’t know if I am the only one that sees greatness in Martinelli. He is our best option for the left wing position,

    1. I see it too, that boy is a gem. I wonder what coaches consider in fielding players. Willock, Nelson, Martinelli, Saka are talents that are ready to explode.

    2. How many matches has martimeli played to warrant such accolades?u guys should stop all these hype pls. Its no longer nelson? U mean the coach should bench aubumeyamg if laccazete should start as our no9 so that we can accommodate martineli? Can u pls remind us the match martineli has clearly destroyed the opposition to prove that he’s the best we have in that position?

    3. I share in your opinion Sj. That lad has got what it takes but I dont see how he displaces auba. But I know he’s gonna take his chances when been called up. He’s talent

      1. Somehow I agree with what Deschamp said about Guenduozy, a great player for his age but still needs to be treated wisely as he is still young and has a long way to go. Pele, Maradona, Rooney, Owen, Ronaldo, and Messi are a rare example of players who shine since their teenage time and live up to the expectation and become world class. Some others just look promising but as they grow older they don’t look that way anymore as what they do on the pitch doesn’t look special for a player that age. So, I think give enough game time for them to enjoy and develop themselves. Making them regular, let alone putting responsibilities and high expectation as key players, would give them such pressure that could be too hard for them to cope. Anyway, there is a period when a player is generally considered reaching his peak performance, 27-29 if I’m not mistaken. I’m sure there is a strong reason of course for that.

    4. How many competitive games have you seen Martinelli play in? I’m not saying that he doesn’t have potential, but given that none (or at most one or two of us) have seen him play competitively (not in YouTube videos or friendlies) let’s not get ahead of ourselves.
