I must be the only person who thinks that Arsenal haven’t strengthened the squad with class players. I feel that they’ve just reacted to last seasons lack of activity. None of the acquisitions are world world-class. Also, we have a lot of injuries already and it is only two
games into the season

Excellent acquisition, I’m really with world class players we brought in. To think otherwise is to underestimate the depth Eze, Gyokeres brings- I think we are destined for bigger things this year
Are you telling us that Martín Zubimendi isn’t world class? There aren’t many better in his position.
I don’t know if he expected us to just out right spend outrageous amount to sign so called “World Class” players, we need names, also the players we brought in are good in their own right and provide us with the necessary cover / depth to mitigate injuries and at times even change the game.
Like it or not, we also already planning for the future, some of these players will be world class and we will either retain them or sell them. Gone are the days where we feel insignificant or be bullied, we have worked to change our tide and fortunes, we have also added much needed competition to the squad, which I believe will only enhance the performances of those players who are not consistent or they will play the bench.

Totally agree with you, we have signed good players to give us cover and make our squad more competitive. Now we have a squad capable of competing in all tournaments and strong enough to go all the way.
Yes, we can now afford to rest key players, whilst slowly intergrating others and getting them to find their feet, when we play the carabao for instance against lower division teams. We can also throw in the academy players Josh Nichols, Marli Salmon, Dowman, Annous to show them a pathway. Besides our philosophy has always been to “we don’t buy stars, we make them”
Mbappe is world class. Ronaldinho was world class. Even with players like that in teams, winning is not a given.
Often world class players bring ego’s and perhaps, the ability to disrupt.
I’d rather have a team of quality players who have a togetherness, a brotherhood and who’d run through brick walls for each other.
Was Ray Parlour world class? No. But he played with desire and just look at how good he was and what he won.

Enter Eze (ENG), Merino (SPA), Zubimendi (SPA), Kapa, Dowman (ENG world-class youth)… We’re that well equipped that when players go off to internationals we remain a formidable outfit… and it’s looking like we ain’t finished buying.
Assuming that you’re right for a moment, truly “world-class” players don’t come onto the market very often (who’d really want to sell one?) and when they do, they cost a fortune.
Arsenal are currently the biggest net spenders in the current window with the players that they have brought in.
As to injuries, it’s part of the game and, in any case, you can only have so many players in the end.

My aforementioned are certainly “class” football players, added to that all are deserve the tag of “elite” because playing as an international, itself, will afford these players such status.
Whether they’re ALL befitting of “world-class” status is a matter of popularity, conjecture and opinion. Gyokeres is already “world-class” by way of record-breaking shirt SALES (emphasis), this is even before him being categorized as the 8th rated world-class striker – this rating can/will improve whilst playing as the No1 striker.
Do we have a Renaldo, Messi, Henry, Shearer type yet – time will tell. These players operated on another stratasphere completely. imo
The fact is that we do not currently have any players on the level of those you have listed. As you say calling someone “world class” is a matter of opinion. However, I doubt many would really call Gyokeres world class until he’s proven himself consistently against top level opposition.
In this case I think the OP has a point. Arsenal have strengthened the squad mainly with floor raisers. Zubimendi is effectively a direct replacement for Partey. Whether he is an upgrade is debatable at this time. Gyokeres is probably the only true ceiling raiser so far. Eze could be but it’s not yet quite clear where he fits.

I used his ‘shirt sales’ as an abstract statistic to distinguish VG14 in terms of his commercial value since joining AFC. I agree he’s still yet to realize his/Our on-field expectations in a regular way. But we/I trust it will come.
Eze(10) id view as an elite playmaker, Seems he already wore number 10 for much of his career. I see him as gamechanger, sort of our version Luka Modric with a hint of former striker Zlatan Ibrahimović – put simple Eze brings with him a playing style and performance that’s ‘majestic’.
We really needed him in the mix COYG!!
The additions are class but the team still badly needs another no. 9 alongside Gyokeres,perhaps a young talented £10-30m prospect to shadow him or take role in case of injury.Great opportunity to grow without pressure.That way club won’t have to cough £80m 2 seasons from now for a striker.
We are neck and neck with Real as the most expensive squad in the WORLD way ahead of anyone in the prem. So, no excuses and no doubting the owner. For me for Arteta, this is now or never!!!!

It’s “bang for the buck” that counts, so which team is going to win more with which expensive squad. We don’t know about the future of course, but RM have won quite a number of trophies in recent seasons so they can be allowed one hiccup, I think.
Where will he get world class players? Apart from Mbappe, who else.

I am also of the opinion that arsenal made good signings and graduated on of the best talent in the world currently in the name of Max Dowman. I also have a feeling that arsenal will collect trophies eg EPL coz we really deserve
I’m glad we have some depth to the team now, but you still need to get lucky with your key players if you want to be the best. I’m hoping to see Liv Che City Ars all go mostly injury-free and see who comes out on top
I take your point, but Arsenal being where they are now in terms of time and treasure expended, I wouldn’t mind if the others, to some extent anyway, didn’t go mostly injury-free (not that I’d wish injuries on any player, of course).
I agree with you. The best players are playing far too many competitive games during a season, including national games. It’s not possible to prevent fatigue and it’s not possible to stay fit year after year. Most leagues having a break during Christmas/New Year, but in the EPL they increase the work load.
Agree Didrik Plehn and Break on through. What will be the breaking (no pun intended) point to all the madness and what changes will be made? Where’s that crystal ball?
World class players have tremendous work ethic desire to be the best and something special, if they are on the pitch at some point the magic will happen: ask yourself do we have a player like that?……Messi Ronaldo or Thierry Henry

Saka. He’s proved season after season that he’s world class. Any top team in the world right now will have him as a starter in a heartbeat. Leicester didn’t have world class players, yet they won the premier league. That shows you that talent alone isn’t enough. Pure desire and intensity will beat talent any day. Our game against real madrid last season demonstrates this. They have better players than we do especially in attack. And yet, we beat them confortably. Because we wanted it more than they did. They just thought because they are Madrid, they would just show up and win the game because they have world class players. It doesn’t work like that.
