Griezmann urged to better himself at Arsenal not Man United

Robert Pires has told Antoine Griezmann that he should join Arsenal this summer, as he would have more to learn by joining us over Manchester United.

The French forward has become one of the most wanted players on the market following an amazing three seasons with Atletico Madrid where he has scored a total of 77 goals, as well as earning the European Golden Boot Award at last summer’s European Championships, where he was key in guiding his France international side to the final of the competition.

Manchester United have been heavily linked with his signing this summer, with his relationship with club record signing Paul Pogba only bolstering that speculation, but the player himself has moved to pour water on any prospective move away from Atletico on a number of occasions.

Griezmann is under contract until 2021, having signed a new five-year deal before the Euro 2016 tournament last year, but that contract did include a buy-out clause, which is believed to sit at €100 Million, which currently converts to around £86.2 Million, but will no doubt have changed by the end of the season.

I don’t think there is much chance that the Arsenal we are used to would be willing to shell out such a fee, but with our place in the top four this season having come under huge threat, it wouldn’t be too much of a shock to see the board invest to secure our place in the Champions League spots.

Robert Pires has now told the star that he would be better off making the switch to the Emirates, instead of joining United, as he would have much more to learn from doing so.

He said: ‘I think it is just speculation for now that Griezmann is joining Manchester United, just rumours. Why could we not see him at Arsenal?

‘I think he has a good profile for Arsenal. I think he can learn a lot from [Arsene] Wenger, with [Mesut] Ozil, Alexis [Sanchez], [Santi] Cazorla. Fingers crossed.

‘You have to buy good players for the fans and you have to spend a lot of money. This is the new football.’

Could Arsenal break the mould and make that big-money signing?

  1. What a timing for this article. Yes surely he will learn a lot but not from Sanchez or ozil as they both will be gone but griezmann will learn from giroud and Ramsey in how to lose and celebrate mediocrity.

I have seen ozil and Sanchez spoil their career by coming here ,don’t want griezmann, sucha talented player, to waste his career here. Sorry just said what I truly felt.

    1. Even if Griezman wanted to join Arsenal, l am sure Wenger and the board would offer 20 million to Atletico and offer Griezman a whooping 80 thousand a week which will be less than what a team like West Ham will be willing to pay….lets not even discuss what Man U will put on the table.

    2. What an article, why would any world class player in his right mind wouldn’t consider coming to Arsenal especially when you are guaranteed (a) not to win any top tier trophies (b) to be paid less than at a club where you would win top tier trophies (c) your career would be at the mercy of the tactical ineptitude of Arsene the dope.

  2. ??? thanks for the laugh Pat ??
You should have saved this Article unit May,at least.

How about an article based on: why is Sanchez laughing when we’re getting forked? ?
That’s two games in a row where he has being caught on camera.
    What a nob.

    1. tired of the same crap. 5-1, 3 times against the same opponent, doesn’t that sound funny? I personally wasn’t angry, we are used to this already.

they say fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me, but we’ve been shamed thrice, not even a shame anymore, please find a word for that

    2. Relax fatty, Alexis is having his time at Arsenal, the good – the bad, the best – the worst till contract do us apart. LOL!

  3. Sanchez doesn’t care about this club, same with ozil. I rate them as top players but Sanchez needs to act professional . Laughing like an idiot , he is not bigger than arsenal fc. Someone should remind him that he was a barcelona reject when we snapped him up . I know he deserves better but stop a ting bigger than the club, I camt imagine Sanchez doing like that at Manchester united or bayern. Same with ozil , do you think he would have been like this under jose mouriniho.
If our two star players don’t care about this club why would others care. I am truly worried about the clubs future .

    1. I agree that it is ugly to smile on the bench while your team gets thrashed. However, Sanchez’s behaviour reflects the indifference and negativity that among various stakeholders at Arsenal. If the board is sitting comfortable with all this, we should brace ourselves for even tougher times.

  4. Nce admin, trying to chear our moods well done. A good change of pace if i might add:p

  5. Really don’t get how you guys berate Sanchez for laughing at a club that is completely laughable. Yes! Arsenal FC is a joke worthy of all humor!
    #WengerOut. .. . #Kroenkeout… .. But wenger should leave first and ASAP.

    1. You should go along with him. Arsenal FC is one of the oldest around, it’s an institution (no pun) and has been a benchmark for many that came after. Arsenal is my club, for them, I have nothing but love. The players, now that can be another matter, some don’t deserve to wear our colors, so that means ..Arsenal is better than this. Alexis is a wee spoiled brat.

  6. I’ve different opinion. A side of “what Griezmann can learn at Arsenal”, which is the peak point of this article (don’t drunk while you write Pat J, hahaha…), I see Griezmann as extraordinary person. For one reason only : he said NO to Madrid (Did Barcelona also?). Atletico indeed disturbs those giants domination. However, I still don’t think they can keep it that way. If Simeone gone, this club could turn into mid table side soon.
Not like Arsenal’s pocket, Griezmann mind is not easy to guess. With Arsene is staring at his exit door, we might lure this unpredictable guy. Yeah, laugh on me now, hahaha…

  7. If he can travel through time and sign a contract in 2002, he’ll definitely have a lot to learn. If he can do that, I urge him to sign for us as well.
