Guardiola insists Arsenal’s summer business has made them even stronger

Paul Merson has explained why Declan Rice might struggle at Arsenal this season as he highlights the key difference between the Gunners and West Ham.

Mikel Arteta has signed Jurrien Timber, Declan Rice and Kai Havertz while losing only Granit Xhaka as a key member of last season’s squad.

This is a clear sign that they have strengthened their group with some of the finest players they can get.

City has had a quieter transfer window, but they still have most of the players who won the treble for them in the last campaign.

Most football fans would still see them as a strong side, but Pep believes Arsenal has gotten better.

When asked if the Gunners have strengthened their group, he said to Sky Sports:

“Yes, definitely.

“Mikel has brought Arsenal back into the position they were.”

Just Arsenal Opinion

Pep has enjoyed playing the mind games for much of his time in England, so we cannot take him too seriously.

The Spanish gaffer still has a very strong squad to work with and we must not get carried away by what he is saying before the season starts.

We have had a good pre-season, and our signings certainly strengthen us, so there is a good reason to be optimistic about the campaign.

  1. No mind games here. It would be sad, indeed, if after our big summer spending we would not be considered an improved squad.

The problem for us might be that our main competitors, Liverpool, Man U and Chelsea have also reason to believe they will be improved this season.

  2. That’s the fascinating thing about Pep Guardiola, he takes nothing for granted as he asses his rivals or competitors the mind games are never far away.
