Gunners MUST show FIRE and FIGHT to restore Arsenal pride!

It is never nice to lose a game of football, and Arsenal fans are desperate for the Gunners not to lose this one today at Aston Villa. But the manner of a defeat, or a disappointing draw, is often as important to the fans.

If you play badly and win, nobody really cares and people talk about winning ugly being the mark of champions. But on the other hand, if you play well and the team gives everything and leaves nothing on the pitch, then the fans appreciate that.

So after a dismal showing in Dortmund, the Arsenal stars must be ready to give their all tomorrow. And not just to keep us fans happy either, it should be a matter of personal pride. I am sure the likes of Aaron Ramsey, Mikel Arteta and Jack Wilshere will have had their pride stung on Tuesday, so I am expecting them to come out and prove that it was a one-off.

We need Per Mertesacker doing his shouty German thing and blasting any player not pulling their weight and we need a proper team performance. Do that, Gunners, and not only will we be right behind you, but we just might win a game of football as well.

    1. muffdiver says:

      with this squad- lets see?
its aston villa- this is a must win- absolutely no excuses we need a win

we are already too far behind

  2. gamer says:

Arsenal better show somrthing i have 3 arsenal players in my fantasy team one being captain so i cant offord a slip up lol

  3. Big Head says:

With Mert in the line up i sincerely doubt that….Just pray we can force a win

    1. Sumo says:

      Big Head.

  4. Big Gun says:

Why don’t we go into every game with this mentality? The players are paid enough, there is no excuse for a lazy and disheartened display. We need to start climbing the ladder as anymore losses and draws and we will be struggling to keep up.

  5. juhislihis says:

Gunners must show fire and fight, completely agree.

But that includes Arsene Wenger as well.

  6. Ks-Gunner says:

Pride my a$rse. Losing to 6 and 8 goals says it all. Losing today is not an option, even a draw is criminal consider the points we have lost till now. Comon you gunner. 3:2 ( bec we have a shit$t defense).

  7. davidnz says:

    Ramsey is due a top
    performance. We have been
    missing his spark and goals.
    Like to see Wellbeck score.
Powerful bench Ospina Flamini Cazorla Poldi
    Rosicky Campbell Chamberlain.
Arsenal need to make a statement of intent today.

    1. Mick The Gooner says:

You wouldn’t have any defenders on the bench?

  8. Namosky says:

Play özil through the middle, with Sanchez and Ox/Campbell on the flanks and Welbeck in front and we’ll have a good game and hope Chelshit lose tomorrow.

  9. Twig says:

My top, top sources say might start up front today. COYG!

  10. InWengerImlosingTrust says:

Fire and fight is fine. But you also need to put players in their best positions and give other players opportunities when players are not performing well.

Why not put Ozil in the middle or bench Ozil and put Cazorla in the middle.

Also why not give Rosicky, Campbell, Podolski, Ox a shot. There bottoms must be sore from all that bench warming

    1. InWengerImlosingTrust says:

We have a cool bench actually. Other than defense (we only have 6/7 defenders) we could make a decent team out of it. I am NOT suggesting it, just thought interesting

      1. Brada b says:

Nice name u should’ve put inwengerilosttrust hehe!!

  11. REiGN says:

Can’t see us winning at all with that stupid 4-14-1 formation with ozil out wide. I really, really hope wenger knows this and make a change.

  12. Mozart says:

A win over Villa won’t restore the pride. They have to win a big match for that. I am looking at the Chelsea match next month.

    1. Mick The Gooner says:

Can’t see us winning that one, we’re playing away after all. A draw and I’ll be satisfied. If they win and Cesc scores it’ll be a day to forget for Arsenal..

  13. Twig says:

‘What is Wilshere but basically a number ten? He played his whole life at number ten. Somebody had to go there. Is it Wilshere, Ozil, Ramsey? And nobody is really natural out wide. So, do you keep good players out or you try to get them together?

Let me help you out Mr Wenger. No, you pick the team based on its balance and not how good a player is. For example, although Wilshere is a arguably a better footballer than Flamini, it would be silly to ask Wilshere to play Flamini’s role as a DM on that basis. Ozil, Ramsey and Wilshere can all play number 10, that is true, but you can’t cram 3 number 10s into one starting eleven simply because you erroneously believe you must have your most talented best 11 players on the pitch at the same time. Was that the reason you switched to 4-1-4-1 simply because you’re undecided about which number 10 to pick? *Laughs*. I haven’t been to coaching school before or managed a small team, but how come I’ve figured that out? Football isn’t rocket science :/

  20. Twig says:

Isn’t Walcott not meant to be fit and firing by now?

    1. Brada b says:

I wish he was & I think he can bring out the best in ozil

      1. Twig says:

I think Ozil can bring out the best in Walcott

  21. rkw says:

Want to see a team playing high tempo quality football with passion … Not just the results that have gone south in last 3 4 years but our style of game… Everyone needs to be working hard for team … Barca are not a big outfit but all press like hell even messi … If wenger can’t get that right with this squad his days are surely numbered … So would be happy to see bellerin and chambers starting today and ox ozil just behind strikers

    Bellerin mert kos Gibbs
    Chambers wilshere ox
    Sanchez wellbeck

  22. InWengerImlosingTrust says:

Wenger has made life difficult for himself and us by
    1. Signing average quality players in one position (striker)
    2. Not signing enough quality players in one position (defense)
    3. Getting too many quality midfielders and not using them in CAM position
    4. Not getting a top quality DM and relying on others for that position

This summer it could have easily been sorted out by buying 1 top quality forward (ie Falcao, Cavani, Martinez, Reus, Draxler, Huntelaar), one DM (ie Carvalho, Bender) and defender.

Interestingly, I just read an article that stated Jackson Martinez and Draxler wanted to join us.

If Wenger doesn’t get a defender in January, he is officially nuts. And I don’t mean the Squillaci, Silvestre type.

  23. gamer says:

Wilshire on the bench cazorla comes in. Just watch how much better as a team we play today now.

  24. ChristopherHWinters says:

Is it a real 4-2-3-1 with Ozil in the middle and Cazorla on left wing.

    1. ChristopherHWinters says:

My previous comment was a question to be replied.

  25. RSH says:

Ozil and Ramsey have been under-performing yet play every single match. Wonder which one of them are going to get injured first, considering they never get rested anymore.

  26. HA559 says:

What a joke, Wilshere is in form, what does Wenger do? Drop him to the bench. He decides to persist with out of from players Ozil and Ramsey. No Joel on in the squad.

    1. Mick The Gooner says:

Wilshere had an ankle injury in Dortmund. Wenger isn’t risking him getting injured again. Sensible decision. We have big games coming up, can’t afford any more long term injuries.

    2. jonestown1 says:

      “What a joke”. Still laughing??

  27. rkw says:

Mert arteta Ramsey combo will not dominate middle of park on strength or passing…. Another difficult afternoon I fear

    1. jonestown1 says:

You must be disappointed at the moment – at least you can put your fear to one side.

  28. ChristopherHWinters says:

Abou Diaby to come off bench to show why he is a beast for us. COYG!

    1. RSH says:

in the 80th minute… only time wenger makes subs.

    2. Big Head says:

He is never a beast….I bet u already forgot he specialise in loosing ball all the time?He is a liabity and i want him out faster

  29. Sacrificial_Pizza says:

I hope Welbeck blasts, 3 all assisted by Özil so I can laugh at the plastics pretend like they never said that were rubbish last week

    1. RSH says:

its Aston Villa buddy. After the crappy performances since the start of the season there is no excuse but to win this match

  30. Sumo says:

QPR chairman is being humiliatrd by Mark Huges.
Come on Stoke. Fcuk ‘arry. Get him the sack.

  31. Aggelos says:

Campbell not even on bench…At least there is Diaby

    1. medvet says:

i feel bad for campbell, the next season he will go, for sure…. very sad

  32. gamer says:

Diaby diaby diaby im soo happy bring him on wenger

  33. Mick The Gooner says:

Looking at our lineup it seems Özil has been returned to No. 10, unless he’s planning to play Cazorla there.. Cazorla is better in the middle than on the wing, but he’s better on the wing than Özil, so I’d prefer him out wide.

  34. medvet says:

    alexis injured??
    last time change…..

    1. ChristopherHWinters says:

He is kept on the bench! Lets see what Ox can do! COYG

  35. Sumo says:

Arry just saved his job. Awesome kick.

  36. Robin Vanpayslip says:

What is happening with the team? Sanchez has been dropped

    1. medvet says:

      is he injured???………

      1. Robin Vanpayslip says:

SSN saying he is injured so you’re right

        1. muffdiver says:

no news like good ne..whaaa ??? why god whyyyyyy

        2. medvet says:

and the curse of the injuries attack again…. fatigue, lack of rotation…. mmmmmm
well done wenger… at least try to make one substitution and avoid this sh*t again….

      2. Mick The Gooner says:

No. He’s played every game so far this season, he’s being given a rest I’d assume – don’t think any of our players deserve a rest more than Alexis, he puts in so much effort.

        1. muffdiver says:

i suppose. just love watching him though…ahem in a football sense i mean

      3. nicolaile says:

Rotation my friend. Alexis havent got a break since he started, so its obvious.

      4. RSH says:

hes on the bench still. So either a slight knock while warming up, or wenger just put ox in instead.

  37. CraigZWE says:

Why play Carzola on left instead of Poldolski I don’t know.

Poldolski better at tracking back, crossing, shooting and getting behind defences.

Unless Wenger thinks villa going to park the bus, so Santi passing, dribbling will be better

  38. rkw says:

Wenger has an ideal opportunity to prove doubters like myself wrong … It’s not a convincing line up but a lot can happen in 90 mins

  39. Justsoccerfan says:

From the beginning, I know that something wrong with Wenger toward Campbell, now Campbell is not on the bench that show my observations is right.

  40. Sumo says:

Why the fcuk am i a bit nervous?

    1. Justsoccerfan says:

Cos we are not in form, a draw will do for me. I want arsenal win but…

  41. Brada b says:

Did I just seen ozil try to defend

  42. InWengerImlosingTrust says:

    Predicted score : 1-1
Desirable score : 5-0 or higher

Honestly, with draws against Leicester and Everton and draw at home to Citeh, a draw is not unrealistic, but neither is a big win with the talent we have.

  43. medvet says:

what a boring game….. this formation is not working at all
