It is never nice to lose a game of football, and Arsenal fans are desperate for the Gunners not to lose this one today at Aston Villa. But the manner of a defeat, or a disappointing draw, is often as important to the fans.
If you play badly and win, nobody really cares and people talk about winning ugly being the mark of champions. But on the other hand, if you play well and the team gives everything and leaves nothing on the pitch, then the fans appreciate that.
So after a dismal showing in Dortmund, the Arsenal stars must be ready to give their all tomorrow. And not just to keep us fans happy either, it should be a matter of personal pride. I am sure the likes of Aaron Ramsey, Mikel Arteta and Jack Wilshere will have had their pride stung on Tuesday, so I am expecting them to come out and prove that it was a one-off.
We need Per Mertesacker doing his shouty German thing and blasting any player not pulling their weight and we need a proper team performance. Do that, Gunners, and not only will we be right behind you, but we just might win a game of football as well.
