Has Mesut Ozil played his last game for Germany?

If we win, we win together, but if we lose, we lose because of Ozil.

It is a sad but very true fact that Mesut Ozil gets the blame if Germany (or Arsenal for that matter) lose a game. He has been terribly maligned even by the German public because of his Turkish heritage even though he is German-born and helped them to become World Champions four years ago.

His father Mustafa thinks that it is time for the Arsenal playmaker to give up playing for his country, and told BILD in Germany: “If I were in his place, I would say: ‘Thank you, but that’s enough,’”

“He’s bent, disappointed and offended, yes, offended, his own fans booed him before the World Cup at the international in Austria and he cannot understand why.

“He doesn’t always have to defend himself. He’s played in the national team for nine years … and became a world champion.

“It’s always said that if we win, we win together, but if we lose, we lose because of Ozil.

“He’s booed and put up as a scapegoat – I completely understand that he is offended.

“Mesut’s been an example for years. The situation is absurd – he loves Germany and has shown commitment to his country, that he’s presented as a scapegoat is so unfair.”

I would personally be very surprised if he dons the Germany shirt ever again after the disgusting scenes when the Germans were knocked out of the World Cup, and Ozil showed his massive disappointment in his treatment by the fans.

So what do you think. Should Ozil just quit right now?

  1. I dont think he will be calles again…so it doesnt matter if he dont want to play for geemany again

    1. he has bcom a terrible player.in 2010 wc he was everywhere in the attack.now he hides behind khedira even kroos.why tf would a ACM go behind DM wtf was he thinking.and his pasding also gone. all his passes were slow n teammates were not getting it properly

  2. I think this is good for Arsenal coz he needs a new sense of motivation & drive & I suddenly have this gut feeling ozil will impress us this season.the booing was quite shameful but I hope he overcomes this episode by giving us a splendid season performance & leave the booing fans ashamed.

    1. same here, I feel he’ll bounce back and probably ditch Germany. i personally think the criticism is unfair. Germany was shit and Ozil wasn’t their poorest player in anyway. after all he has done for German football, they still question his loyalty. he won the world cup!!! the useless german legends be running their mouths. smh

  3. He wasn’t impressive with Germany in this world cup. I pray that Emery can get him motivated to perform at his best more often

He was amazing in 2015-2016 with 19 assists. Nearly got Henry’s assist record.

But other than that season he has just had moments of brilliance. No consistency at all
That’s not good enough. Certainly not good enough for the pay he gets.

I rate many players over Ozil ie Mahrez, Ericksen, Mata, Fabregas, Silva, de bruyne because they are more consistent

Ozil needs top players around him but we don’t have that at Arsenal (other than Aubameyang and Lacazette)

  4. I really feel pity for Ozil. I admit sometimes his body language isn’t so encouraging, but that wasn’t the reason they were knocked out of the world cup, they all played badly. I really want to see Mesut at his best again in an Arsenal shirt.

    1. Germany’s early exit has nothing to do with Ozil, they shot themselves in the foot before the world cup started, dropping Leroy, making a big fuss about two players meeting the Turkish president, picking a goalkeeper who basically was injured the whole season, so it didnt suprise me to hear about different factions in the squad. So they obviously had other issues.

  5. hope he played his last game for Arsenal too

    time to move on

4 signings down….5 more to go!

    football coming home!

    1. I don’t think you are an Arsenal fan !!! your suggestions are insults to the players we have.

  6. Who cares thought this was just arsenal not just Germany he’s a wastemen can’t stand the fool…. we should cash in on him but no one is stupid enough to take him and the biggest joke is he earns 350k a week to walk about the pitch. we have been taken for mugs by this German snm

  7. Hopefully Emery will play him centrally as a proper #10 playmaker to service the runs of Aubameyang, Lacazette, Mhikataryan and Perez. The addition of Lucas Torreira will make a difference to Ozil’s play.
With the support of Unai Emery and Arsenal fans, Mezut Ozil with a point to prove and without the pressure of internations, may bring out his best for the Arsenal.

  8. To see a player of Ozils quality treated with such narrow minded bigotry by Germany and ashamedly some Arsenal factions makes me cringe!!
He is one of those players that needs encouragement not bullying. Not many players have his match winning ability! His passing play is world class.
Let’s hope Unai can rebuild his shattered confidence!!

  9. Ozil’s talent is sometimes hard to use on the field as his assisting skill relies heavily on his teammates’ contribution. In theory Arsenal should be his promised land as we stress on pass and go, but since Cazorla’s long injury we lack the talented player to back him up and only the unstable/unskillful players left. But I think since Auba’s arrival and his sync with Laca, with the 2 adept strikers Ozil could provide more next season, my question is always more on Xhaka+ Ozil division of labor on the field rather than questioning Ozil’s talent.

  10. Most fans only want to see hardwork but they dont see the details of how mesut plays. I suggest they should always ask for his statistics and them compare him with other players
