Have Arsenal decided to sell Bellerin or has he demanded a transfer?

The latest Arsenal transfer news is that the Gunners have decided to sell Hector Bellerin this summer to give a big boost to their transfer funds which are desperately needed to upgrade our defence certainly and hopefully bring in a top notch Defensive Midfielder.

The reports make it sound like Arsenal have made the executive decision unilaterally but if we remember back to last summer, it was reported by the BBC’s David Ornstein that the Spaniard had actually asked Wenger to sell him back to Barcelona. Responding to a Q&A on Twitter, he said: “Arsenal encountered problems with some of those they did not want to lose. For example, Hector Bellerin returned from the U21 Euros to tell Wenger he wanted to leave amid interest from Barcelona.”.

It was also reported that his old team-mate Denis Suarez who claimed that the Gunners’ right-back is torn over moving back to Barcelona. Speaking to Catalunya Radio, Suarez said: “I have spoken with him, and on the one hand he’s keen to come and on the other he feels tied to Arsenal – I hope he can come.”

Now with the end of the season approaching quickly and Arsenal looking very unlikely to be in next season’s Champions League, perhaps Bellerin has reiterated that he wants out and he has been linked with many other big clubs other than Barcelona including Juventus and Man City, where he would be guaranteed to be in the major competition. Also the way that wages have suddenly exploded the 22 year old would be keen to be given a way out of his 6 year contract that he reportedly signed last year.

So I am leaning towards Bellerin wanting to leave rather than Arsenal ‘deciding’ to sell him. What do you think?
