How Barcelona will HELP Arsenal solve DM problem in January

I am not sure if you have heard this one before Gooners, but some people think that Arsenal could do with signing a world class central midfielder, a player with defensive discipline, high work rate and the power to battle Premier League opponents. Oh I don’t know, maybe someone like Patrick Vieira perhaps. I seem to remember the Gunners doing quite well when he played for us.

But joking aside, I do think that Arsene Wenger is coming around to the idea and accepting that Mikel Arteta or Mathieu Flamini are not always the answer. Per Mertesacker even revealed this week, as reported by ESPN, that he and Mesut Ozil had spoken to their German international colleague Sami Khedira about coming to Arsenal from Real Madrid. I doubt if they would have done this without knowing that Wenger was actually interested in the transfer.

It now looks like Khedira will be staying in Spain though, but Wenger may still be looking to sign a defensive midfielder in January. We can only hope! And one of the players thought to be high on his list is another German international, Lars Bender of Bayer Leverkusen. And here is why FC Barcelona could help Arsenal to get the transfer done, by focusing the manager’s mind and intent.

Metro have reported that Barca are also very keen on the tough tackling 25-year old, but they are not allowed to sign any more players for the next two transfer windows. But that means that they could sign him next January, making it a good idea for the Gunners to get the transfer completed sooner rather than later to avoid the lure of the Nou Camp coming into the equation.

So the report claims that Wenger could be preparing a bid of £19 million for the German in January. If this is true, then thanks must go to Barcelona.

    1. Usmanov says:

Now that the desperate rich kid (Barca) is wanting her (Lars) I can only hope that Arsene can get his seduction tricks to work again. He only has to look at a photo of Sanchez for him to remind himself of his seductive cunning persona.

There you go. Women just love a persistent dude…Lol

  2. JoJo says:

Would be nicer to have someone with more of a physical presence.
But beggars can’t be choosers I guess.

  3. Thando says:

I want wenger to do all he can in his power to signe schar and gondobia

  4. TJ says:

If I could question AW about this season I would want to know- What was his plan to attack the EPL and UCL? What squad did he have in mind in order to win these? What was his plan for success I guess. What brand of football was he looking to cultivate?

And then given the defensive problems – why didn’t he sign a defensive mid and CB – other than Chambers? What was his thinking here?

What was the outcome of the enquiry into the injury issues which he commissioned last year? What are the resulting changes – is Shad the sum answer?

This is what I want to know…ask questions, don’t throw stones, but demand answers because we as supporters are entitled to them.

    peace and out

Everytime I here about Barcelona I chuckle to my myself that thay paid us that much money for verm and he still hasn’t play a single game….after all these yrs of them buying our players I feels so good to get 1 over then…….any way until January we can buy no players so ill rather try and fix stuff right now with what we got..untill boss comes bk play chambers at cb…..if Wenger is scared of playing belerin at rb…put gibbs there or monreal…atleast we’ll only have 1 player out of position….and if we havewaWalcott on the right trust me opposition wont be boming up our right side that much cuz they’ll be scared of wally’s pace…I really think this is the best way to till January…as for DM u choice is as good as mine…I know that arteta and flamini or not the best but I really need either Wilshire or ramsey to play that box to box position like it suppose to be…the problem is not just DM its also because everybody else wanna play ATM and to be honest neither Wilshire or ramsey or not ready to pplay that position….I often criticize ozil but he knows when t ok let go off the ball when he plays there..u hardly ever see us being counterdwhen he loses the ball cuz he’s always loosing it the opposition half…check it and see ullbe ssurprised…Wilshire on the other hand just wanna run from deep in our half with it..thats suicide every for ramsey he just think he’s this goals scoring mid that he aint get bk to basics rambo..though talking hard wrking thays what made u…yes we love the goals of last season but we like being on top if the league even more…now lets beat these overpriced overpaid alex Ferguson left over tomorrow…asenal for life from Jamaica

      Walcott too.shhh.
He played 10 mins for us & got called-up to national squad.

    2. vijaygunner says:

Wenger: Sanchez needs to be assessed as he only got back from international duty yesterday afternoon. Stop giving everyone a heart attack.

      1. muffdiver says:

too late- im on the way to a and e

  7. 007 says:

Don’t worry guys, once Barca buy him Wenger will add him to his “I almost singed him” list and he will issue a news conference.

Anyway plenty of decent DM’s around, the question is does Wenger want to buy 1? From where am sitting it seems his happy with Arteta, Flamini and Diaby been around for that spot.

But what do I know, I don’t get 8m to think about such!!!

  8. cheeterspotter says:

What I want to know is how it has taken Arsene bloody Wenger so long to work out that Arsenal have needed an interational /worldclass DM since before Song played.
    Irisponsable management l say.

    1. Hafiz Rahman says:

even when song is around we still need a DM….

      1. Ks-Gunner says:

Song was a better footy talent then Ramsey and Wilsher during that time. With him something like 3rd place was no problem, and we lost the fa cup due bad luck.

  9. mobaygunner says:

Nobody said Sanchez was injured he said he haven’t seen him yet he cam bk late lastnight…Walcott has a tight grind no big deal…he didn’t play for England so why are we bringing that up..he. only trained with better l layers than the ones that were left behind with us…is that such a bad thing?..let me see do I wanna train with the English team or do I wanna stay and train with moreal and mert?..I know what my choice would be…just saying he could’ve got hurt here too guys…hes been out for 10months its gonna take awhile.

    1. IceBergKamp10 says:

It’s the travel which is more problematic. Travel is the major cause of fatigue.

  10. Hafiz Rahman says:

Everyone knows Monreal and Per gonna get raped….but Wenger just refuse to change….

    1. Ks-Gunner says:

To late for that, we need to make the best out of our situation and try to beat manure

      1. Hafiz Rahman says:

        That willl never happen…

im looking forward to bad day at the office excuses from Wenger..

        1. IceBergKamp10 says:

No fan wishes his team too lose. But I get where u’re coming from. I’m tired of us under-achieving. I want change.

          1. Hafiz Rahman says:

why do we want a manager with poor tactical decision…

            poor subs…

            poor usage of players..

  11. Erlick Badu says:

Luiz Gustavo, from Wolfsburg. He would be the new Gilberto Silva.

  12. Matt says:

The only thing that makes me feel better about having Monreal at centre back again tomorrow is that their defence is also in pieces right now. I don’t like the idea of Van Persie and Di Maria and Rooney against Mert and Monreal however I’m pretty sure United don’t like the idea of Sanchez, Walcott and Danny against Paddy McNair and Chris Smalling.

    1. kam says:

Sorry to disappoint you but Wenger said,

      ‘Theo is not available for
tomorrow’s clash, he has a tight

Danny Welbeck is also a doubt for the game after picking up a hamstring
      injury whilst on international duty.
Wenger added: ‘We will decide of
Welbeck is fit after checking on
      him today.’

  13. Matt says:

I’d honestly have as our back four tomorrow:

    Bellerin Mert Chambers Gibbs

  14. JAmerican says:

I heard we made a deadline day bid for Virgil Van Dijk from Celtic after failing with Nastasic from City. Any truth to it??? Also read that we’re going in for both Nastasic and Van Dijk again in January… Would love those defensive options alond with William Carvalho if we can really snap him/them up.

  15. JAmerican says:

Times like now I wished we had gotten Serge Aurier on a season long loan instead of PSG to cover for Debuchy, especially since Jenkinson went to West Ham on loan…

  16. kaybiks says:

I’ve stopped expecting too much from my team Afc. To be candid, I can’t see Wenger beat man. U. It’s bitter but truth. If it happens, all well and good but I have my doubts.
