How battling Scotland could spell trouble for Arsenal

I am sure that all six of the Arsenal players in the England squad will be hoping to be involved for Roy Hodgson’t team when they face the auld enemy Scotland in a friendly match at Celtic Park tonight. The home internationals used to be the highlight of the football calendar for most of the players that took part in them and it really is the sort of game that players want to be involved in.

But it could also spell trouble for the Gunners, because this game is going to be anything but friendly. Neither team will want to lose or give an inch, of course, but the Scots will be roared on by a vocal and fierce home crowd and if their qualifier against the Republic of Ireland at the weekend was anything to go by, there will be many a hefty challenge flying in.

The England boss has suggested that he is set to make a fair few changes to the team that beat Slovenia on Saturday and hopefully a few of the Arsenal lads will be rested. But some of our players are likely to play; with Welbeck, Wilshere, Walcott, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Gibbs and Chambers all possible starters.

An injury to any one of those Gunners could give us a real problem with some huge games coming up in the Premier League and Champions League, but especially the two defenders. I don’t know about the rest of you Gooners, but I will be watching the game with my fingers crossed.

Why don’t you just make the banners and go to the match. Why do you need a post to tell you what to do?

  1. I was living in boredom for a long long time until I read this.

Arsenal vs Man Utd to be postponed for injuries. Because three MAN UTD players got injured during friendlies.

I am feeling happy and laughing again.

  2. What worries me is that England have a crap side/team and we’ve got 5 of the squad who play for the Arsenal.

    1. Your wrong in two counts
      1) we have six Arsenal players and a possible 7th in the future,
      2) this young England,s team are doing realy well and will improve as they mature.

  3. Arsene scouts “Marcelo brogovic” as the ideal DM ahead of £5miL move…. SmH…i won’t be surprised if this true anyway…..it ain’t something new

:…… In other news (or possibly rumours) CheLski are consideringselling cech to ArsenaL (in the region of £7miL) …..

REASON: cuz they noLonger see ArsenaL fc as genuine TitLe contenders…….. Great! …what insoLence …… But yea! Its our fauLt, we stooped so Low and Licked their feets ….Now they see us as nothing!

You just keep on losing sleep, worrying about how others see us. I’m comfortable in my choices…

          1. @ NY GUNNER ……are you comfortable being a LoyaL AKB? …….or are u just bidding ur time in patience…. ???? On that gLorious day when wenger bows out, ur face would be the 1st i’ll Love to see …dn’t get me wrong …i’ll cry 4 wenger too, but i’d be so gLad he Left

  4. Arsene scouts “Marcelo brogovic” of dinamo zagreb as the ideal DM ahead of £5miL move…. SmH…i won’t be surprised if this true anyway…..it ain’t something new

  5. Ramsey said yesterday that he is not 100%, so he has been playing against Swansea, Anderlecht and about half the game vs Burnley whilst not being fit? So if he wasn’t fit then why is he playing 90 minutes for us. It shows no matter what there performances is, they are guaranteed to be on the starting 11, just like many of the English players playing for England today get going for them at Arsenal.

The British players don’t have to to care for their performances, when they are guaranteed to start for the club anyway because they have the backing of Wenger ahead of other players.

Then it’s the same with Sanogo, how does that guy go ahead of Joel Campbel and Podolski in the pecking order? It just doesn’t make any sense.

I stand corrected on the Arsenal/England player count.
Hold on a minute, that makes it even worse re.England/Arsenals chances of winning anything.

    1. How exactly? England’s team has been overhauled since the World Cup and have won every game since. There hasn’t been the best competition, but you can only beat the team in front of you.

Of the 6 Arsenal players in the England team, only Welbeck and Wilshere played in the World Cup. Welbeck was played out wide and Wilshere was used as a substitute. Gibbs, Walcott, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Chambers didn’t feature. Not to mention how young the England squad is, it’s still developing and improving.

  7. Wenger is such a shrewd opperator (still not fan of his tactics)

he wants arsenal to be the new destination for english players AND foreign players wanting to in the premier league. He wants to make Arsenal synonymous with ‘English football’ by having as many english players on his team, this is his new approach.

    1. With Alexis and Walcott on the wings, do we really need Reus? Cazorla, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Podolski and Campbell are no pushovers either. I think we’re fine attacking-wise. Our transfer funds should be focused on the defensive side of our team.

  8. We just need our players to see out the game injury and shaw and rooney to get knocks in the 88th minute 🙂

  9. @ Sank89…..marcelo plays as an AM?……. Exactly what wenger needs…… Ain’t he the master of playing players outta position?

  10. The pass from Wilshere is
what Arsenal should do more often
    be more direct rather than
    sideways passing all the time.

  11. Surely wenger has got to play jack in the deep midfield role soon I’m loving his direct midfield bypassing balls, not many have the vision or technique to do it, dare I say very beckham and gerrard like.

    1. @Ronny331
Gotta give it to Jack on his beautiful passes. But dude loses focus and forgets to defend which sort of cancels out his passing skillz…
