How to be an Arsenal striker – For Dummies!

Lexi was asked about how he was finding it easy to adapt to his new centre-forward role, and obviously where do we all go when we want to know something? We Google it of course! And that is what Alexis did. “I like it as a centre forward because I can get involved in the play more,” he said. “I have the chance to drop deep a little bit more and that means I can link up with my team-mates more.

“[The manager] is the one who decides, he’s the one who changes things around and decides where we play. He asked me to play there so I said fine – I looked up some videos on the internet to see how I needed to adjust my movement and I’ve been adapting since then.”

It is certainly an interesting outlook. Personally I would have thought the training ground (perhaps with people like Thierry Henry showing you a thing or two.. Doh!) would be a bit better than Google, but hey! It’s working so far!

Now I’m just off to Google “How to be an Arsenal manager – For Dummies!”

  1. He isn’t the first person Ive heard say that they check out other players trying to pick things up. They do it in training, Iwobi among others said that they try imitate Ozil, Ive heard Theo say similar about Alexis and his magnificent work ethic. I doubt you could only pick these things up by being in their presence. What Alexis was looking up is too important to just get training ground perspectives. How many footballers would have looked up Henry in action, it’s not the same as asking for advice or looking him up in training when he’s passed it and has zero pressure to boot. Alexis as a top footballer watching footage will understand allot more than the average dude.
