How will Arsenal cope without Bellerin when he goes to Barcelona?

This is not a done deal yet Arsenal fans, by any means, but I have to say that things do not look good for the Gunners on the issue of our Spanish international star Hector Bellerin, with the rumours from Catalonia in Spain that the new manager of Barcelona has identified our right back as his priority transfer target for the summer.

The Mirror reports that Ernesto Valverde is ready to make a £45 million bid for Bellerin and I can well believe it as the Barca fans will be demanding better after their side were beaten to the Spanish La Liga title by fierce rivals Real Madrid, who then went on to secure a record 12th European cup by beating Juventus in the Champions League final.

The outgoing manager Luis Enrique did end up with the Copa Del Rey but that will not do for the demanding Nou Camp fans and the Catalan press have been saying that the loss of Dani Alves was a major factor in their disappointing campaign, with Sergi Roberto seen as a second rate replacement.

Even worse news for Arsenal is that Bellerin has hinted that he is ready to return to his boyhood club and if that is the case I think we should get ready to say Adios, but how would Arsene Wenger cope with the loss of this talented and influential star?

Gooners will hope that he invests the money back into the squad wisely, of course, but there are also options already there. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, for instance, was very impressive in the right wing back role when the boss went to a back three formation.

We also have Rob holding and Calum Chambers who are both great prospects and have both played at right back as well as in the centre of defence. However I do feel that Arsenal will still use a back four at times and if so I think we need a top quality right back. Who do you think it could be?

  1. they will have to cope if ‘the express’ is actually saying anything factual;)

wouldn’t be surprising now would it!

    1. Danilo of Real Madrid will be a good option. He is said to be surplus to requirements at the Bernabeu and the capital outlay wont be much. Another good option will be Hysaj of Napoli.

  2. If Bellerin is the only classy RB in the world then we are doomed. anyone is replaceable (even though the old one couldn’t replace Vieira for so long = stubbornness & arrogance), the market has quality players, just a matter of bidding the right amount (not 2m less then put him in the I-nearly-signed-him list)

  3. If he leaves, buy a quick and smarter right wingback or a winger that can defend as well. The problem is it’s difficult to find smart and technical wingback like Dani Alves nowadays.

The right wingbacks that are available on the market currently are just good physically and they are usually just okay technically. I hope Kolasinac has very good technique and smart, otherwise it would be difficult for Arsenal to penetrate from the left side.

    1. Because Barca will offer over 50 million pounds for him? Do you know how big a ranch Kroenke can buy with that money?

  4. The Ox has and can do a job there! and young Ainsley Maitland-Niles is just as versatile.

Bellerin has come out and said his family have moved back to Barcelona for “family reasons” and “they do a lot for me.” It sounds like he is encouraging Barca to make a move. However if the reports are true, with the £40m odd received- finding a quality replacement will not be difficult.

  5. Bellerin is a fantastic young lad but if he wants to leave let him leave but @ a good Price say £60M tops. Imagine if we were buying him from Barcelona @ this point would they let him go? Talkless of letting him go for cheap?

If Kylian Mbappe is worth over £100M then Bellerin Should be worth half of that!
    I’ll say a £70M Price tag!
Arsenal is no longer a Cheap Club!

  6. Barcelona fc is a patriotic Catalan club and all those in the uth academy who are Catalonia’n will sooner or later will return to the nest as proven before with the likes of Fabregas

    1. but i don’t think we will let him go this window it would send the wrong msg to the other players who we are trying to persuade to stay by saying we are strengthening the team and not selling a player who still has years on his contract

  7. If De Gea Man U Goalie is Considered that expensive then Bellerin a 22yr old Prospect like Mbappe should be considered as well.

  8. No surprises here,there or outside Bellerin’s house. ??
Poor kid must have been pooping his pants that The Goonerman was coming to get him ?? once news broke out that his off.
First he moves his family safely back to Spain, 40km away from Barcelona, (I reported the removal van spotted outside his house as soon as that news hit the Web and yup that got thumbed down by my fans?) then days later it was claimed that it was only his sisters stuff that was being shipped out from his house lol. And finally while Bellerin is away on international duty (far away from any angry Gooner ) he starts flirting with his boyhood club.

It was never about IF Bellerin would go back to Barcelona but more of a case of WHEN. Infact I even suggested that this could be the year he goes when Wenger switched to 3 at the back and Bellerin spent most of his time coming off the bench. That was a clue to life without the young spanner ?. Barcelona have apparently offered a choice of 3 players for Arsenal to pick one, in an attempt to sweeten the deal. ?
Anyways, Sagna is available for free lol ??so is Yaya Toure.. Just kidding ? but who’s to say that Wenger isn’t.

Meanwhile… Over in France, Mbappe wants to stay at Monaco and that’s probably the right choice for the youngster.
Oh well, I feel as if I’ve been kicked in the Nuts, first thing in the morning. Let’s hope there’s good news to follow.

    1. ?? – “I love London & Arsenal, I owe Wenger & the club so much”

?- ” hey! Bell-end, what was that removal van doing outside your house.”

??- ” ow you sayyy, mee know speak inglish wery vell ”

Reports from Spain state that Barcelona has agreed personal terms with Arsenal full-back Hector Bellerin on a summer move back to the Camp Nou. Radio station RAC1 (via The Sun) claims that the 22-year-old, who was nurtured in the club’s famed Masia academy, will now sit down with Gunners boss Arsene Wenger to try to finalise his departure from The Emirates.

      1. Bellerin already played his last game for Arsenal, he ain’t coming back. Pique and Fabregas before him pulled the same stunt. I wish him the best of luck. perhaps, Wenger would finally have some use for Joel Campbell.

        1. Campbell’s off to Turkey, probably will be sold for as little as 3 million euros.

          1. They made a bid, maybe we won’t accept it. I see a slighly shorter Lauren in Campbell.

            1. I would give Campbell another chance at the club,he has more fighting spirit than Walcott,Ramsey & Ozil combined. Infact most of the team bar Sanchez lol.

                1. What are you guys smoking? Campbell as a right wing back? The very left footed Campbell? That stuff must be pretty good.

      2. Make him stay 1 more year and make him play with the under 23’s. Cheeky little Spanish twat. Who do these punk’s think they are, he will still be worth the same money in 12 months and the club will make a statement to everybody that we are no push overs.

  9. I just Read it this moring that Barca want to add 3 midfielders, Denis Suarez, Rafina and Ardan Turan plus money for Bellerin, Let’s make it very difficult for them to get Bellerin so that they won’t think is business as usual by selling their potential players to us at teenage and after we have mould them into world class they will want them back…..Bellerin is valued for 70 million pounds, if they can’t bring that money then no deal, or bring all the 3 mildefiders plus 30 million pounds, we will use the money to get Sidibe of Monaco

        1. As stubborn as he is I think he’d be smart enough he is on borrowed time to go after dross. I am an avid Wenger fan but some of his decisions have been shocking to put it mildly, in fact he has failed, and next season is his only shot at redeeming his currently wobbling legacy starting with the quality of players he signs, so far Kolasinac is a decent acquisition.

  10. £50 million take the money and run. OX and A M Niles would do the job. Lets push barca hard , he has a 6 year contract. 50 million of fcuk of. The transfer market is crazy and if they are desperate they would pay.

WENGER ON KOLASINAC. I GATHERE HE WOULD BE OUR LWB.

“He’s very compact as a player, very strong and determined in the challenges,” Wenger told Arsenal Player. “He’s good in the air as well, so overall I believe he has all the attributes to adapt to English football
“The game here is very demanding physically on the commitment front and he has the ingredients to adapt to that.
“What he will give us is the fact that he’s a player who can give assists, who can go forward, who can contribute good crosses.
“It’s very important that we have that as well, because we have Kieran Gibbs, we have Nacho Monreal and we have him. But Nacho plays a lot now in central defence and in a three-man system I see him in there.
“So overall, I think [Kolasinac] can contribute a lot to help us to be more dangerous going forward.”

  11. That’s the Tactics: Make it Difficult for Barca so that they will know that they can’t continue to take dump on Arsenal again.

Selling Bellerin to them £45M is as good as taking him back for free.

Ask them as old as Messi is, Barca will still demand Over £250M for him. So Bellerin who still has the potential of playing down the wings and scoring goals some day should not be sold for a fee chicken of £45M.

Arsene Wake Up to the Reality of Today’s Football Market!!!

    1. It’s not gonna happen mate, our fans are used to the negatives but I extremely doubt bellerin will be going anywhere anytime soon….well unless they offer 70mil or so which won’t happen.

  12. everyone is saying “lets make it difficult for barca…” as if its the fans who conduct the transfer process,we all kno our team will let him leave on small fee or are we knew to arsenal?!

  13. I’ve felt we’ve always sold our players under market value, especially when Barcelona come calling, so let’s finally start hitting these clubs in the pocket! I remember Song having a fantastic season, then suddenly he’s sold at a really low fee of around £15 million! Cesc was always too cheap as well.

We don’t need the money, and Bellerin is on a very long contract, meaning we can play hardball. Stones cost £50 million, so Arsenal should at getting at least £60 million for Bellerin. Fed up of Barcelona always getting their way.

Overall, it may not be too upsetting because of how good the Ox was at RWB. I’d prefer to keep Bellerin, and he’d be my first choice in that position, but we shouldn’t forget that he had a poor season. As long as the Ox signs a new deal, it may not be all that bad.

    1. Alexander Song, had a year left on his contract and refused to sign a new deal. He was promptly sold to Barcelona for 15M which was a lot of money for Barcelona to spend for a Busquet deputy.
Bellerin will go back to Barcelona someday, that why Wenger gave him the long contract so it would be difficult to arm twist us to let him go on the cheap. He either runs down his long contract or we get a hefty fee for him!

  14. When we play 3 at the back Gabriel and Ox in front of him can cover the right side of the pitch.

    1. I do like Gabriel he’s a no nonsense defender who looked to be finding a bit of form. He’s got a lot of endeavour and aptitude even if his execution is somewhat lacking. Plus, I like the way he sometimes go’s on his forward forays with some aplomb !

He needs to sort out those gnashers though. The man’s got a little too much tooth in his head !

If Bellerin want to continue playing football week in and week out, he must remain at Arsenal and continue to play football, we have seen a lot on all players who were from Arsenal to Barcelona, they are being attracted by Arsenal players, when those players are playing for Arsenal, they forget that, Wenger knows how to use those players. We start with Nicolas Anelka, he went to Madrid, and was to told to wait for one or two season, because of his THICK HEADED, he refused, he joined Madrid, he played few games and he was always being substuted from time to time, as a result, he could not get games, he was always on the bench. Come the other year when Arsenal went the whole season without a defeat in the Premier League, Barcelona were attracted by Marc Overmas and Emmanue Petti, the two joined Barcelona, they played few games, and sometime on the bench, as a result Emmanue Petti decided to go back to England and joined New-Castle and always regret leaving Arsenal, then the other year it was Alexander Hleb, he was the best dribller in Arsenal team, he went again to Barcelona, he was never given some games, I think he only played few games as a sub, and his carrier was destroyed by Barcelona, then come Henry, he again went to Barcelona, he played some games but not like he used to do at Arsenal, he was not looking like a star player anymore, he decided to go to America, then there was Fabrigas, he joined Barcelona again, since he was one of their juniors, I think he played for two seasons, and supporter used to booing him, he decided to come back to Arsenal, by then Arsenal had already resplaced him with Ozil, and he joined Chelsea, then come Alexander Song, he pushed to go to Barcelona, he was always on the banch, and never been on first eleven, then he ended up regreting joing Barcelona, and wanted to go back to Arsenal, but normally Wenger do not take players who pushed themselves to be out of Arsenal, lastly there was Vermuleen, he went to Barcelona and ended up not playing at all but when playing for Arsenal they used to be star players. The reason why I mentioned all these players is that, Bellerin might decide to join Barcelona but I do not see him getting a permanent Jersey like what he is doing at Arsenal, Bellerin should be careful about his carrier and he might be looking like an ordinary player and not a star anymore, my advise to Bellerin, he should wait and probable join Barcelona when he is matured, to say the truth if he goes to Barcelona now, he will not get a permanent position. Be very careful with your carrier, Barcelona might destroy you like what happened to all players I mentioned above. That is my advise to you young man.

    1. Good comparison. I hope that’s what happens to the ungrateful rat if he leaves this transfer window.

  16. Get Bruno perez from Roma/torino as replacement sell him for min 55-60 mil . Or else Benjamin henrichs from leverkusen

  17. Seriously, the title talks as if it’s FACT that he is going to Barcelona, then the first paragraph gives the game away by using the word ‘rumours’.

All of which means it’s by no means certain, especially given the FACT he is on a newly agreed long contract.

It’s playing into fan paranoia that we always lose our best players.

    Gossip, nowt more.

    1. His family moved back to Spain already, if that doesn’t say much, nothing will; they’ve been with him in London since he arrived as a fifteen yr old and they just up and leave just when the rumours are hotting up? We don’t need the distraction of a prolonged saga, if he wants to leave, good for him, Sagna left, Debuchy came in, Debuchy got injured, Bellerin Came in, if Bellerin leaves, there are three or more players who would be happy to claim the RWB spot (Ox, Niles and Campbell), we need to focus on players who actually are begging for a chance. He might become a megastar in Spain, I wish him all the luck in the world, I really do.

      1. What’s with listing Campbell as a potential right wing back? ( one legged and completely left footed) The fellow does not have a defensive bone in his body! You might as well use Walcott as a right wing back!

  18. Going back to the headline, Arsenal will cope just fine, there will always be a replacement somewhere that can come in and do a job while learning and improving their skill set.

  19. I like Hector a lot as a player however his recent interview really got on my nerves. Maybe the newspaper outlet manipulated his words but I feel like he is angling for a move back to Barcelona. If Barcelona are willing to offer £45/50 million then Arsenal should let him go. Unlike someone like Sanchez, he is very replaceable despite having a lot of potential. If we stick with the 3-4-2-1 formation then Oxlade Chamberlain could be ideal for that system. However we should still look to sign another player capable of playing that position, ideally Aurier but other options include: Rick Karsdorp, Mario Gaspar, Ricardo Pereira, Joao Cancelo, Elsad Hysaj, Benjamin Hendricks and Mitchell Weiser.

  20. If bellerin leaves I’ll like to see serge aurier as his replacement. That guy terrorized arsenal when we played against psg. And it was a relief when he was substituted. Bar speed, I think serge aurier is more rounded than bellerin and would be a good replacement. As for bellerin, he shouldn’t think Barcelona will be all roses. For one, he still lacks confidence on the ball and is quick to pass to a nearby teammate not as a tactic, but for fear of losing the ball…until he gets that confidence, I don’t see him playing many games for Barcelona….he should also be aware that arsenal wont take him back if his stint at Barcelona turns out a failure. I sure do hope some of these footballers read advices on forums like this

  21. When it comes to media, Spanish are best in term of stirring things in favor of their local clubs. First they create a story and the fans react, most of the time so negatively. That reaction is pushing the player out. We have to be calm. He is contracted for years, which we should not be worried about. But even he go, he is replaceable given that we play 3 at the back. I wish he will stay with us but if he really go wish him good luck. None of the players left Arsenal doing better than the time they are in our red shirt. They are good because they play for Arsenal..
