Hull reserves have no pressure against Arsenal – says captain

Hull City are flying high at the top of the Championship, and with Steve Bruce’s policy of only playing his reserve team in Cup games they have also done very well, having played in five rounds in the League Cup, even beating Leicester City on penalties before succumbing to Man City at the Etihad, and also making it through to the fifth round of the FA Cup.

Their captain Michael Dawson says that they have no worries about facing Arsenal, and their reserves will just go out at the Emirates and play their normal game. “Anyone who watches Arsenal knows they’re a top team and we’ll go there with no fear or pressure on us and enjoy the occasion,” Dawson said on hullcitytigers.com.

“We know the story with us and Arsenal in the FA Cup and we’ll go there as a team wanting to win and progress through to the next round.

“It was the same against Brighton and Bury – it’s all about trying to get into the next round of the competition.”

Two players that definitely won’t be playing is Chuba Akpom and Isaac Hayden who are ineligible to play against their parent club, but looking at Hull’s cup results so far Steve Bruce has given his reserves great motivation to show that they are ready to win a place back in the Championship-leading team’s first XI.

Two player’s that will be starting is Jake Livermore, who is coming back from a failed drug test for cocaine, and the on-loan Man United youngster Nick Powell, who will be making his debut.

All in all, it looks like it will be a very interesting match despite it being two second eams on show….
