Arsenal are waiting for Vinicius Jr. to give us the green light to make Real Madrid an offer by rejecting their latest contract proposal.
If the Gunners do pounce, I’m relieved to hear reports that Josh Kroenke wants to take ownership of any deal and lead negotiations.
That’s not meant as any disrespect to Andrea Berta. I maintain the Italian remains one of the best appointments our owners have made since they first joined the club.
Yet we know all about our director of football’s recruitment strategy.
The 54-year-old likes to take his time, collecting as much detail as possible on individuals before going away to review all of the information he’s compiled.
That’s why transfer sagas involving the likes of Viktor Gyokeres and now Bruno Guimaraes seem to drag on for weeks.
Media in England and Spain stress that, while both parties want to find a compromise, Florentino Perez’s improved offer to the 26-year-old will be his final one, with little room for negotiation.
The moment those talks break down, indecisiveness is not an option.
Arsenal must be decisive if the opportunity arises
We can’t spend the rest of August trying to haggle over the asking price because that gives time for counteroffers or even a bidding war.
Most importantly, part of the attacker’s standoff with his employers is his desire to feel valued.
A key selling point of moving to North London is that he can become the face of the brand. That sales pitch is diluted if we are not aggressive in our actions.
The English champions will be breaking their own records in terms of transfer fee and wages, so this transaction would have needed approval from those at the very top of the club anyway.
It would also change the pay structure at the Emirates, and that’s something any owner is naturally going to approach with caution.
Why Josh Kroenke taking charge makes sense
Because of the numbers involved, you can understand why Josh feels these talks should be between those with the most authority.
It’s not as though the Kroenke family are strangers to negotiating multi-million-pound business deals, so they won’t be intimidated by speaking directly with the president of Real Madrid.
Father and son know this is a huge opportunity for KSE. Not just in football, but across their entire sporting portfolio, a deal of this magnitude could generate enormous commercial value.
Not to mention it would establish a working relationship with Roc Nation Sports, who represent the player and are one of the biggest agencies in world sport.
Forget whether it’s on the pitch or off it – this is an opportunity that doesn’t come around very often.
For a while now, it has been clear that Stan Kroenke has entrusted Arsenal to Josh as his own project.
If the 46-year-old pulls this off, it could prove to be a turning point in Arsenal’s history.

I would most definitely love Josh Kroenke to take charge of signing Vini Jnr if that opportunity arises. We need someone more aggressive in their dealings.
Yes, Andrea Berta is good at what he does, but he deals seem to take for ever before any significant “movements” within all his deals take shape. It’s just so tiring at times following them. We certainly wouldn’t want Vini to feel unwanted by all the club (Arsenal).
Yes Josh should personally conduct this closure,with a signing of this nature I,m sure vinny would appreciate it.
Vinicius’ agents just released a statement calling recent media reports about their client fake. Can we all give it a rest now
As the saying goes “of course they would say that”. Media speculation is not helpful for them, it just annoys Real Madrid. The negotiating teams are clearly at work. All will become clearer to the rest of us later.

They referred to the recent media stories about Vinicius currently making the rounds. What other than his standoff with Madrid, contract ultimatum and personal terms agreement with Arsenal (which I never believed for even one second).
Moreover, I’m quite sure that of he was actually seriously considering leaving Madrid, his agents will notify several clubs, many of whom would readily outbid us – City and Saudi come to mind. I’m not adding PSG to the list cos they’ve got Kvarashkhelia and seem to have found a new prudence with money which caused their pursuit of Diomande to collapse and their willingness to let Barcola leave. We’ve got money, but I’m not sure we would want to competent with those reckless spending clubs

Makes sense to have the guy with the money lead financial negotiations. The proposal has been made to add Vini Jr from the sporting side. If ROC Nation doesn’t want to accept what RM proposes then RM are left with the choice to deal with Arsenal and make bank or lose out on the fees.
Also to add to the discussion of how long it takes with a Berta negotiation, this was also his method at Atletico. He has a few different targets in play at the same time, so if one goes elsewhere, then the competition is reduced for the alternative target and he negotiates a better deal. Frustrating when us fans want quick progress, but ultimately delivers for the club.
Well with a deal of this magnitude I don’t mind the Kronke involved in negotiations that would be a good catalyst in winning Viny&make him feel valued coz we need him like yesterday, Plus the sums involved would need approval from Chairman. Go gooners&conquer Champions league
If it’s all about what Real are willing to offer him. If he turns that down, he’ll end up in Saudi Arabia somewhere.
He won’t be in North London, not a chance. Don’t get you’re hopes up people, no matter how many angles these journalists or Webpages keep feeding you.
It’s a huge Transfer Fee (as quoted) whichever way you look at it — and the Salary (as quoted) is also massive.

If not, there are still several top players who will be happy and proud to sign for ‘The Arsenal’
Either way, we can probably be pretty confident that the Team will be considerably stronger by the start of the New Season.
And we won’t have FIFA, UEFA, The FA or The Premier League looking into the Club’s Finances and charging us.
