Fabrizio Romano has delivered an update on the future of Vinicius Junior as Arsenal waits to discover whether they can sign the Brazilian during this transfer window.
Vinicius is regarded as one of the best players in the world, and if he completes a move to the Emirates, he could become the biggest signing in Premier League history.
The attacker and Real Madrid have not completely ended discussions over a new contract, which is why a move to Arsenal has not yet happened.
Contract talks continue
The Gunners remain hopeful that Vinicius and the Spanish club will fail to reach an agreement, as he has just under a year remaining on his current contract.
Real Madrid cannot afford to lose him as a free agent, so the club would prefer to sell him during this transfer window if he decides to leave, ensuring they receive a transfer fee rather than losing him for nothing.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Jose Mourinho wants Vinicius to stay, but there is still no agreement in place. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano said: “For Real Madrid, these are going to be important hours … They, Vinicius’ agents, arrived in Madrid yesterday to have conversations with Real Madrid to welcome Yan Diomande in the next days, but also to have these negotiations with Real Madrid for Vinicius Junior. So there will be a new important round of talks between Vinicius Junior, his agents, and Real Madrid over the contract situation.”
Decision expected soon
Romano also explained that previous discussions have failed to produce an agreement, leaving several important issues unresolved as negotiations continue.
He added: “The agreement was not reached in the last two three meetings they had with counter proposals on one side and the other. So still points to discuss. One more meeting is going to take place and it’s going to be important in the next hours to understand more on the future of Vinicius Junior.”
The outcome of the upcoming discussions could determine whether Vinicius remains at Real Madrid or whether Arsenal’s hopes of completing a remarkable transfer receive a significant boost before the transfer window closes.

If Vini refuses to agreed with Real on their terms and Arsenal is able to get him, the EPL and Champions League trophy should just be handed over to us we will not be in competitions with any team this season.
That’s not how football works.
Everyone assured us all last summer that Liverpool would walk the league and CL. They told us that Liverpool would defend their Title with ease after signing the likes of: Wirtz, Etikite, Isak, Frimpong, Etc..
But we all know how it all ended for them.

Arancha Rodriguez (Real Madrid focused journo), who is a top tier source like David Ornstein is for us, posted today that Madrid and Vini Jr reaching alignment is – quote – “imposible”. So there’s no immediate resolution in sight. It’s like Trump and Iran trying to negotiate. At least there’s an end to the window in a month!
I’ve just read on the BBC Website that Real have offered him an improved contract, and he’s appreciative of it.
Hopefully he signs, and we can finally put this fairytale to bed once and for all.
I just hope Arsenal are not wasting time waiting to see which way he’ll jump. Not that I believe there’s was any real interest in the first place.

Part of me certainly would like to believe that we could survive, maybe even prosper, to a degree, under the the old terms, the old ways? Maybe, but in all probability unlikely!
We have a team, and a manager, and an owner, that appear determined. We to be at the highest level! Whether for pure sport, or for business expansion, or for a mixture of the two concepts; the opportunity is presenting itself.
Arsenal would be backward thinking to overlook a golden chance. We went into the 1930’s with a forward mindset under Chapman. We could find ourselves in similar mode as we approach 2030 and beyond! We surely need to be ruthless!
