Arsenal battled back from a goal behind to pick up all three points at home to Swansea today.
The Swans came into the match with a sturdy defensive record away from the Liberty Stadium in the Premier League, and it looked like they may be able to utilise that into a win at half-time, but our boys were not going to give up any points without a fight.
We fell behind mid-way through the first half with blame to be placed on Koscielny and Cech. The defender failed to control the ball properly allowing the visitors to take advantage, and Sam Clucas was found by Tammy Abraham to slot away, and questions could be asked of Petr Cech for rushing out.
The Swans were clearly set up to try and catch us on the counter, but we managed to deal with their further threat quite comfortably, and continued to keep pushing forward in search of our equaliser, but it didn’t come before the interval.
Arsene Wenger clearly set our boys on the right track at the break, turning our one goal deficit into a lead inside 15 minutes.
Sead Kolasinac sealed off a neat passing move by burying a powerful shot into the side netting, having run in to finish from the back of the box.
The Welsh side did look to have battled back into the lead straight after, with Tammy Abraham slotting away, but thankfully the Chelsea loanee was offside before receiving the ball, and that was chalked off, but our defence would have been in for a talking to had it have stood…
The Bosnian was involved in our second goal only six minutes later, when he teed up Aaron Ramsey to bag himself his 50th Arsenal goal of his career. It was another neat passing move which fell to Sead at the back of the box, but this time he finds Aaron inside the box to slot away, although former Gunner Lukasz Fabianski will be frustrated he wasn’t able to stop the shot being so close to his leg.
We looked evermore likely to add to our lead in the final 30 minutes, with Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez and substitute Olivier Giroud all looking dangerous but it wasn’t to be.
The only worry to come out of the game has to be Kolasinac limping off the pitch toward the end of the match, but hopefully it wont prove to be anything serious…
How much of a loss would Sead be? Was there ever any doubt that we wouldn’t take all three points today? Did Sead or Rambo deserve the MOTM award?
