Is Jack Wilshere really back to his best for Arsenal?

A few years ago Jack Wilshere was hailed as the next big English star and was loved for his do-or-die attitude for Arsenal. Due to injuries and lay-offs that expectation has waned a bit, but the player himself feels that he has now regained his golden touch for the Gunners.

He told Arsenal.com today: “I’ve been very pleased. I said at the start of the season that it was going to take me a few games to come back to the level I was at.

“When you miss time at this level you lose a bit of pace, a bit of form and it takes you time to get back. I’m very pleased.

“The main thing that got me back is my pride. I never wanted to stop – I was never satisfied with the level I was playing at.

“I always knew that I could come back to a level that I wanted to be at and be able to dominate games. I’m happy at the moment but I still think I can do a little bit better.”

“I’ve said before that my goalscoring record has never been good enough and that I always want to add more goals,”

“You look at the top midfielders in the world like Lampard and Gerrard who were getting 15 or 20 goals a season back in their day.

“I’m not saying I can get that many because they were specialists at that, but I could definitely get into double figures.”

I love to hear Arsenal players speaking confidently, but I am not sure that Jack is quite back to his best. In fact his THREE goals last season was a career best, and his ONE goal this season hardly emphasises his belief that he has hit top form.

From my personal point of view I don’t think he should even be in the starting XI on current form, but he obviously thinks differently. Maybe Wenger is starting him in every game in the hope that he emulates Aaron Ramsey last season when he finally came good?

  1. Lol! If he claims this to be his best, then sincerely he just has to use the door or train his a*s for some serious bench warming.

  2. Honestly, Jack is damn too mouthy. The truth is that you could really see him trying his best to do so much for the team, but his efforts are just shambolic.

    1. Your mouthy too so why are you complaining. Jack works hard and that’s evident how much better he’s playing than the last few seasons.

So if he likes to talk but puts in the hard work who cares

      1. @Goonsquad, u sound very personal and pisssed. U think I’m mouthy? Naa, I only say things exactly the way I see them, but I may be damn too raw (dunno when or if I’d change).

By the way, I’m not one of AFC players, so u can’t pick on me for my performances in the team. Lol! However, just like u, I’m a fan and I have every right in heaven and hell to praise and to criticise my team. I do not go to Chelsea, MUFC, or Spurs fans to complain about my team. No, I do that indoors with my fam (that’s every Arsenal fan) and we rob minds. No one talks sh*t about Wenger or the players before me if the person isn’t an Arsenal fan.

By the way, u said “if he likes to talk but puts in the hard work, who cares?” Yeah, I think so too: no one would care if his hard work were efficient. We all can see (even the blind does too) how hard Alexis works, but do u see him blabbing in the media about himself? Nope. In fact, as good as Messi is, does he talk so much about it? But like I said above, I admitted to the fact that he (Jack) tries his best, but factually he tries to do too much and ruins everything.

So, Jack isn’t back to his best.

        1. Some fans(like kickAssFan) are just total idiots who like critisizing our players without even considering the reality. I dont know whether its because they have memory problems or they are just complete retards – if my memory serves me right, wilshere has been on the treatment table for the better part of his career. At some point he even got an 18-month layoff, yet he has all the courage and determination to re-establish himself back to the form he was in before. the boy is a true gunner, he puts all his strengths to the team. why is it so hard for fans to get behind him? he’s only 22 and he has been through a lot.

Right now we are stuck with the likes of arteta, flamini, carzola…all of whom are on a poor run of form. Like it or not we desperately need wilshere to hit the top form, he has the potential to save us. the way he’s being abused lately is as if he is the poorest player on the field, how about flamini, arteta, ox, carzola? are they not just as poor or even worse than wilshere? They havent even suffered as much as jack has for the past 5 years. critisizing and abusing jack won’t help us. lets get behind our lads and help them get confidence

  3. Akromp Welbeck

    Ox Crowley Wishere Walcott

    Gibbs Hayden Cambers Jenkinson

    Vickers

    the mighty invincibles 2.0

    1. So you’d like Crowley to replace him but then you start Crowley AND wilshere in your “invincibles” line up hhhmmmm…….

  4. Just saw the 23 man Ballon d or shortlist.
Eden Hazard is there but no Aaron Ramsey, what exactly did Hazard win last year? He had 6-7 goals excluding penalties. He had a poor showing in the World Cup, yet he makes the list. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think Ramsey should win the Ballon D or, but he should have made the list atleast.

Anyways a list without Suarez-biting or no biting-doesn’t have any credibility. So FIFA may as well fcuk them selves.

    1. @Sumo, when last did u wrestle?

      Well, just asking, plz.

So u think Ramsey should have made the least?

I wonder why Obama ain’t picking my calls.

        1. Why do you bunk school kid? Don’t waste time on blogs. Leave the football to grown ups. It’s time for you to study, no blog.

And seriously the illogical comments you make without justifying your thin king makes you look straight out of Cartoon Network.

          Have a lovely morning.

          1. Ahahaha! No problem, pal! @Sumo

U may be obese but you definitely can’t beat me in sumo wrestling.

And, yeah, I should not waste my time on blogs, I’m trusting u to do just that on my behalf. But I luv just Arsenal so plz permit me to frequent this site as much as I want; the only other site leave comments on is “goal” (but interesting folks like u aren’t there).

FYI, I’m a cartoon freak—guilty as charged, no regrets. Truth is u learn good and acceptable English from cartoon network (nickelodeon, disney, boomerang, etc.,) and they make u laff, and u know what they say about lafta.

Lol! Have a lovely day, buddy!!!

    2. @sumo.. Let me hope you know what the Ballon Dor criteria is. You know it’s not just about goals assists etc, right?..

That award is to appreciate modal footballers, they take many things into consideration and behavior is one. It’s more like trying to win that dream Job, you have to go through a process, eg; application, CV, interview. Just because you have amazing experience and talent behind you but when a week ago you had been serving a 4 month ban for assult on your work colleague then I don’t think you get that job. Isn’t it?

      1. So if they nominate a player who just assaulted another player in a very psychotic manner then that award might be called into disrepute. That award might lose credibility.

  5. Jacks not the player I first saw when he burst on the scene. Injuries have stalled his progression and so has Wenger’s tactics. freedom would help but no decent holding midfielder restrics that freedom. Oh and a batling midfielder you ain’t, leave that to the toughies or bulk up yourself and stop whinging.
P’S A few more goals might help!

  6. OMG! Where are my manners???

    Good morning, everybody!!!

    Yeah, really meant “everybody”.

Y’all have a lovely day, ok? And don’t forget to positively kick a*s at all times!!!

  7. Back to his best??
The “local” boy must be joking or being a joke himself…
May be our worse midfielder right now… Obviously he won’t have the “intelligence” (because he has barely some) to analyse his performances, but will only listen to his “deluded” manager who thinks the world and “ass” of him… Have a fag bra”!

Like I said before, all this sh*t will be over in less than 3 years and we will finally move forward from this farce and delusional circus.

And people, you are talking about “doing something” to make them (board and the rest of the cronies) understand that you are not happy… STOP running to the shops “like little chickens” everytime the new shirt comes out (it’s embarrassing to be a predictable mug!!)… The sell were increased by 410%…!! It seems that all is good and the Arsenal fans (at least some of them) have no problems spending and then complain…!!

  8. Honestly, Jack is not ready yet. If he say that he is at his best as our number 10. We are in big trouble, and the season will be very very long. I guess his father Mr Wenger will find out soon.
