Is Lucas Perez set to be Arsenal’s new left-winger?

Every Arsenal fan on here keeps going on about how we need a new left-winger before the transfer window closes, with Martins, Pavon, Bernard, Banega and Lozano all hyped as possible arrivals, but the fact is that we already have a very able player already on our books who has been proven to be able to work his magic on the wing for Arsenal.

Lucas Perez did not interest Arsene Wenger very much, but he is now back at the Gunners and has joined the opening training sessions of Unai Emery, who knows him very well from La Liga and may have a little more faith in his abilities than Wenger did, or perhaps Le Prof simply wasn’t happy that he wasn’t his choice.

But Perez is back, and ALL existing Arsenal players need to be given a chance to prove their worth, so why not Perez? He said goodbye to the Deportivo fans today and could only apologise for being part of the team that helped them get relegated. He said: I didn’t know how to address all of you, but I think it is necessary to say goodbye,”

“As with all Deportivo fans, these weeks have been very hard for me. I could never imagine that the relegation would happen.

“Neither the city nor the fans deserve this and I ask for forgiveness from anyone who has been disappointed with me. Things do not always work out the way you think, but if something is clear to me, I will never regret wearing your shirt.”

“I just have to thank all those people who believed in us until the last day,”

“Also the club, Deportivo, for allowing me to fulfill the dream of my life, and Arsenal, for always being sympathetic to me.”

So he has left his hometown club, and he has vast experience of London (and scoring goals).

Why shouldn’t he be given a chance to prove himself at Arsenal now that Wenger has gone?

  1. I agree. I think Lucas is very talented. Better than Welbeck and Walcott when he was on the team. I think having Lucas playing on the wing would be great for Arsenal. He’s a natural goal scorer and with Auba or Laca (or both) our attack would be very potent.

      1. I HAVE MISSED WALCOTT TOO. BUT I WILL GET HIM ON THE WAY BACK, WHEN I HAVE TURNED THIS STEAM ROLLER AROUND!

      1. Stubill, please check his record at Arsenal for goals and assists in games played.
Remember Emery is not going to risk his coaching reputation on Lucas Perez, if he doesn’t have confidence in his ability.

  2. Agree far superior to Iwobi who is hopeless and we should sell quick.Pacey experienced and chips in with goals.

  3. Perez was treated badly by Wenger when others like Mustafi and Xhaka were played despite their poor to average performances.I,m all for giving him another chance.

    1. No arguments There Grandad-Wenger continued to play his favourites no matter how badly they continued to perform.Lucas Perez was just never given the run of games to allow him to settle. He won’t start before Aubamayang or Lacazette but he looked a good player.I suspect he will be sold but I would prefer him to Welbeck if it comes to a straight choice on who to unload

    2. Perez was sent out on loan when we had Sanchez/Giroud/Walcott Wenger didnt miss treat him he’s chances were limited against what we had with Laca coming in and made the right decision for Perez. So tired of the bashing.

        1. Why was it Bashing Wenger?Wenger never played him. That is a fact. And that is despite the obvious talent the player showed when he was given runnouts in the odd Premiership Game or in the Cup matches. The big question why did Wenger buy the player if he didn’t fancy him?
And I get pretty pissed off that sometimes just mentioning Wengers name is taken as an attack on him.FFS get over yourselves you Wenger Loving Twats.Because this is NOT about me having a pop at that Geriatric Old Prehistoric French Dinasoar(although I will happily partake in that topic with anyone at anytime).
Wenger bought the player.Wenger didn’t play him.Why did Wenger buy him?
It’s not as though Wengers record of wasting OUR money on players was a regular mistake was it?Cue Xhaka Mustafi

            1. The list IS endless but to some Wenger is still untouchable when it comes to pointing out his numerous transfer failings.

  4. Too slow for a winger. More of a no.10 but doesnt have the creativity of ozil or HMK. Maybe a lil better at scoring than ozil. May as well keep welbeck. We should really invest in a good string winger or give reise nelson a chance. No more average players plz

    1. Too slow? are u kidding me? he’s one of the fastest players we have.
I’ve never commented on here before but when i saw your blatant misinformation i had to.. Perez was the next best thing to sanchez before lacazette came in. i will never understand why wenger didn’t play him ahead of welbeck and the rest. But then i’ve studied wenger for so long and i know for a fact that he makes some of the worst decisions any coach can make… like sub in 70th minute or bench mikhi when we needed goals against athletico in the second leg last season after mkhi just showed class against man utd a few days before the game. Wenger makes those types of wtf decisions alot. no wonder we got where we were. But that’s in the past now and i hope unai sees that perez is better than welbeck or iwobi. i’ld sell welbeck instead

    2. Ozil is the weakest link in that Team. Its just a matter of time before he is exposed again. This time I hope Tue coach wont defend lazy pple. All no. 10 score goals read Hazard. Ronaldo. MESSI ET ALL. We need a no. 10 with energy to run midfield and score goals. Ozil had weak shit. Fear shooting. Fear rubbing shoylders etc. I wish we give 10 to Laca and Auba 9. Through Mhki et all around the.

      1. The weakest link? Are you sure? The best creative player we have had at the Club since the days of Fabregas and Bergkamp and you would sooner have some pit pony who runs around a lot.Im telling you that the BEST bit of business this Club has done in many a long year is to get Ozil on THAT contract. With the players he has in front of him and a CDM in Torreira we just might have given this World Class player the opportunity to show us what he can really do for the Club.

    1. Apparently he was average At least from what I read when his loan was up. Deportivo got relegated but he led the team in goal stats I think with just 6. He did much better there before we bought him.

  5. We have 50 m Lacazette 60 m Auba
16m dangerous Dan the quota man.
Plus we have Asano the Japanese Messi .
We have 4 overlapping wing backs
while Rambo Ozil Mkhi often play wide.
    Willock Nelson Nwakali Adelaide
are waiting “in the wings” so to speak. 🙂
Old 16m Perez has just got relegated so
is worth practically nothing especially on his 4 mill salary.
Talk of a return is really an attempt to raise his selling price
and lower the price of any winger we are looking to purchase.

    1. Before Unai settled on 4-3-3 I think there was a genuine chance of Perez being recalled for 4231 but everything we are doing now suggest we are going 4-3-3 hence the hunt for cheap wingers. Find it somewhat funny how no-one notices that its a BPL buyers market and we are sweeping up the value not the top talent might work out for us but it’s no change in strategy just a good year for it. We spent -3 mil last year including auba we might spent 50 mil this one. Hardly inspiring and the laca/auba excuse doesn’t stack up given sales were more.

        1. Yeah and let’s not forget Wenger has left the Club with only Europa League revenue for the SECOND SEASON so our budgets for transfers are obviously lower.
Thank the Lord God Almighty that Frenchman was SACKED otherwise we would be working with Johnstone Paint Trophy revenues.

  6. OMG, I can’t stand listening to some of the English supporters anymore! You are going to tell me with a straight face that ENG has the squad to beat BEL or FRA? Name me how many ENG players would bounce FRA and/or BEL starters? Yes, ENG has Kane . . . which players on the ENG squad could bounce the 6-7 core players from BEL or FRA? Really, I would love to hear this . . .

    1. It doesn’t work that way.
It’s about who plays best on the day.
On paper Germany, Spain, Argentina, Brazil, Portugal are better than Russia, Belgium, Croatia, England, Sweden

Of course England could beat France or Belgium. We can also lose to Sweden

      1. “On paper Germany, Spain, Argentina, Brazil, Portugal are better than Russia, Belgium, Croatia, England, Sweden” – I don’t agree with this completely. GER, ESP and ARG limped thru all the way . . . BEL and CRO are 2 favorites.

    2. Football is a team game mate, England are showing a great togetherness and on the day can beat anyone. Belgium and France have great individual talents as well as team spirit.

It’s got nothing to do with “who would you swap”. Past England teams had better individual players but less of a team spirit and went out earlier in the completion, even the so called “golden generation” did nothing on note.

Take agentina as an example you have messi and agerio two great individuals but no team spirit or togetherness.

It’s fair to say that dance and Belgium have got enough about them to win the World Cup, you may just find the England could also turn them over if (a big if) we reached the final.

To much emptherise put on the Individual these days when it great teams that win honours.

  7. On another note, I am glad Uruguay is knocked out. Now we can see if Torreira sign for us or another club, at least we get the answer asap

  8. The Nzonzi rumours are persisting, I think Ramsey might be off. If Nzonzi comes in we can patner him with Torreira for an ultra solid defensive midfield. We can then sit back and commit all attacking duties to Auba, Ozil, Mkhitaryan and Lacazette. Never will we see and 8-2 or 6-0 humiliation again!

    1. Yeah QD that is what it would seem if Ramsey is off.Good thing?Bad thing?Just can’t seem to work out what’s best but without doubt we would be more solid and that is something long overdue.
I suppose it’s a question of how much value is put on Ramsey. Not just in terms o Transfer fee If he is sold. But also what he can bring to the team as an attacking midfielder in comparison to having Two in there holding.
We have full backs to give us width and if Emery could ever get Bellerin to learn how to cross a ball consistently then we would then have natural width.
With Welbeck Perez Nelson AMN (I refuse to put Iwobi’s name anywhere near a list of players)we do have squad depth and versatility.Ramsey will expect big wages to stay so it’s his worth to the team that Emery must decide on.

  9. He’s a center forward. In more than two thirds of the games he played last year he lined up as a center forward. He also played a handful of games as a CAM. When he did play out wide it was on the right, not the left.

  10. Be amazed if Ramsey leaves.
The rest of the core were,
how shall we say, were “invited”
to leave but I have never heard
    of Ramsey receiving the DCM*
    DCM* Distinguished Conduct Medal.
    DCM* Don’t come Monday (Colloquial)

  11. Why do some people keep bashing Iwobi….FFS the kid is still learning his tread….he will come good….atleast you can see he has something in him that needs a bit of proper coaching….He is our Iniesta…watch this space

      1. Inniesta? Are you F***ing mad mate or what? You have just stated Iwobi will be (with a bit of proper coaching)as good a player as one of the greatest footballers EVER to play this game. How can you compare Iwobi with a footballing legend?
Let me tell you what Iwobi can do.He FLAPS HIS ARMS WHEN HE RUNS( that one is for you Sue?)
He offers NOTHING to the team.No pace.Cant beat a man consistently.Cant pass well.Cant shoot.Cant score goals. All I can say mate that you must have been given a life sized Alex Iwobi blow up doll that you keep playing with. This would explain why you have gone blind.
The player is USELESS.No amount of coaching will EVER get this player to the level required at Arsenal Football Club.Even his own country couldn’t get him out of the side quickly enough at the WC.

    1. Iwobi has provided more football gains that Wilshere considering their availability, wages and output on the field.

      1. Yeah and look what we have just done to him.Got rid of the player because he wasn’t good enough.Trust me if Jack Wilshere was deemed not good enough then that useless twat Iwobi will not be too far behind

  12. I think English fans should be grateful for coming this far in the world cup….it surely ends now as all others left are way better than England!Croatia can’t lose to England even if it’s scripted.
