Is this Moscow star REALLY the answer for Arsenal’s midfield?

I must admit that I had never heard of the subject of this one of the many Arsenal transfer rumours doing the rounds at the minute. But apparently the Brazilian defensive midfield star Romulo is the player that Arsene Wenger is set to bring to the Emirates to solve the central midfield problems that have been going on for so long.

The 24-year old is currently playing in Russia for Spartak Moscow, but according to a Metro report the talks about his imminent transfer to north London and the Premier League are well underway. In fact the report claims that Romulo could become an Arsenal player as soon as this weekend.

He apparently has interest and offers from various clubs back In Brazil but the Brazilian media seem to think that he is all set to join the Gunners and attempt to add the strength, steel and skill that Arsenal fans have long been crying out for.

Having never heard of him, I am not exactly over the moon about this transfer news, but he did play all six games for Brazil at the London Olympics and has earned eight caps for the full Brazil national team. With the likes of Fernandinho for competition, that suggests he is more than decent, but Arsenal have not had much success recently with players from Brazil, as the memory scars from Andre Santos and Denilson have yet to heal.

But will Romulo be like them or be more like Gilberto Silva?
