Is this the end of Casillas to Arsenal transfer rumours?

I must admit to having been a bit bemused at the many Arsenal transfer rumours linking the Gunners with a move for the Real Madrid and Spain star Iker Casillas. They have been appearing in the football media for some time now, at least a year, but the veteran stopper may finally have put an end to them by declaring that he has not intentions of leaving the club he joined as a promising nine year old, as reported by Metro.

There have been rumours that the Spanish giants are looking for a new number one ever since he fell out with Jose Mourinho a few years ago and I could have understood him wanting to leave in that situation but Casillas has since seen off the challenge of Diego Lopez and even though they signed the Costa Rican international Keylor Navas last summer, Casillas has started the vast majority of their games in La Liga.

Then there is the question of why Arsenal would want to sign him if his standards had declined, so these rumours have not really made a lot of common sense. On the Arsenal side of things, it is now looking as though Wenger may not sign any new keeper after declaring himself perfectly happy with David Ospina and Wojciech Szczesny. What do you guys make of it all?
