BID CONFIRMED – Is Turkey the answer for Jack Wilshere? Or will Arsenal overprice a sale again?

It will depend on the wishes of Arsene Wenger and the Arsenal and England international star, but Jack Wilshere could be about to end his long career as a Gunner, in the same summer that his old friend and fellow Arsenal fan Wojciech Szczesny swaps north London for Turin and his new club Juventus.

Wilshere’s next destination will not be as glamorous or well known in football terms as Juve but if he is serious about getting his playing career going again it may just be the right thing to do for the 25-year old to up sticks and take his new wife to Turkey, where he is wanted by Antalyaspor according to a Daily Mail report.

Just like with his season on loan with Premier League club AFC Bournemouth last year, playing for the Turkish club would surely mean that Wilshere would be a regular starter and that is what he needs, especially as his recovery from the latest unlucky injury, a broken leg, has seen him miss out on the pre-season schedule with the Gunners.

What the report does not say is how much the Turkish club are offering for Jack but it does say that Arsene Wenger has already turned down a transfer bid of £6.5 million from the Italian club Sampdoria so you would assume that Antalyaspor have improved on that. “We made an enquiry and are in talks but Arsenal want a lot for Wilshere,” The Turkish club’s president Safak Ozturk said, as quoted by Sky Sports. “It will be a difficult move to pull off.”

Will Arsenal lose another sale because of their inflated transfer fees? Would Wilshere accept the move? Or is Wilshere going to stay at Arsenal for the final year of his deal and leave for free next summer?

  1. SEEMS TURKEYS IS A PLACE FOOTBALLERS GO TO ACCEPT THEIR CAREER’ ABOUT TO DIE. A KIND OF FOOTBALLING HOSPICE IF YOU LIKE. GENERALLY THEY TEND TO DISAPEAR FROM THE FACE OF THE PLANET AFTER THEY’RE RISIGNED TO GOING THERE.

  2. Well Arsenal transfer fee may be inflated but the whole market has been hiked also. Pool is holding out for 30million for Sakho. Monaco wants over 50million for Lemar, spurs want 50million for Dier. It’s crazy really, but this is it and it’s happening. I want to see the out goers leave, but I think they shouldn’t leave too cheaply.

  3. The Hot weather will toughen up his brittle ankles lol
If no one wants to pay more than £9 million for him then loan him out for two seasons, ? Mr Selfie style ?

  4. We under bid for players we need desperately and overprice those we want to get rid. whoever come up with a strategy like that needs a fast labotomy.

  5. The ball is now officially rolling, PSG have submitted a 50 million Euros offer for Sanchez… Take a seat, this may take a while ?

  6. From a footballing perspective it will be an absolute disaster for him if he goes to Turkey . How many british players have gone there and stayed and made a success of it.

    1. I think his career has been a disaster already for the past few seasons.. And that has been right here at his home country..

  7. This is what happens when you’re stupid enough to let HALF YOUR SQUAD get down to the last year of their contracts! Arsenal are in such a weak position, because now our players, and the bidding clubs have all the power.

  8. It hurts to say it but it is time to move on from jack.
The perfect window would be to move both jack and Theo.

  9. Extend Jack’s contract and send him on loan to a mid table team and let him get some play time and sell him for a decent price the following year. Food for him and club

  10. The British clubs are afraid to take on Jack because he has a reputation of being an injury prone player and it is not like he guarantees goals and assists every match he plays. So Turkey sounds like a good option, out of the media eyes

  11. I saw jack and Ramsey play in a league cup game when they were around 18 years old against hull. They came on a 2nd half subs and you good see they were both quality with the potential to become top players. Thy could both pick a pass and link up play with the older first team players.

Both have had terrible injuries and jack has had so many that every bone and joint much crack and pop every time he thinks about exercising. I think his young body is already to damaged and prone to injury that he has to take it easier in a lesser league and try and earn a living and enjoy what ever football he has left in those leg. He would have once commanded a good price once upon a time but now £5-£10 million in the bank looks reasonable

All the best to him, a few years in turkey and the weekend at the beach might be good for him.
