Is Wenger right to say that some Arsenal fans are a disgrace?

Well, Arsene Wenger has finally come out and shown his true feelings about the way he has been treated by some Arsenal fans this season, and I have a feeling that this means that Le Prof will be leaving Arsenal after today’s Cup Final. There have been protest marches from a few fans before matches, and the very visible plane protests, and some high profile insults from so-called celebrities like Piers Morgan, who call in an “arrogant, deluded man” back in March.

well today Wenger has finally hit back. He said: “I don’t mind criticism because we are in a public job,”

“I believe there’s a difference between being criticised and being treated in a way that human beings don’t deserve.

“The lack of respect from some has been a disgrace and I will never accept that. I will never forget it.

“The behaviour of some people during the season, that is what hurts me most. It’s not my person that is hurt but the impeccable image of the club around the world. That kind of behaviour does not reflect what Arsenal is.

“A strong club is a club that makes a decision. It is wrong that in modern society it is not a question of whether a decision is right but whether it is popular. That has nothing to do with competence. People with responsibility have to make the right decision.”

Hmm ” A strong club is a club that makes a decision”? Well there is not much use when you make a decision but refuse to tell everyone what that decision is!

So what do you think? Now he has hit back does that mean he has decided to leave?

  1. he maybe right bt himself who has contributed to this otherwise if he had made the decision early non could have been said

    1. He is right all day long. He can be criticised but using certain unprintable languages/comments on him is to say undeserving of him. You must learn to respect his person and all that he has brought to this club. I want a change…a good change in result but I will NEVER insult Wenger – no matter what. Being disrespectful to AW is just NOT ACCEPTABLE.

  2. booo hooo! “Human Beings don’t deserve” ? Wenger has no idea who 3 billion of the humans live and and are treated.

Getting paid 7 million a year and being digitaly abused through some banners and social media for failure by people who are actually paying and forking their hard earned money to see their team perform. Yeah. So unfair. Which human being has ever been treated this harshly ? I wonder!

    1. He has no right whatsoever cause of his unachievement. Being paid such a high salary to produce afootball team that can perform and compete with the best for fans who are forking the highest prices to watch their beloved team deflate each and every year for 19 yrs. Everybody who loves football knew the weakness of his teams for such a long time but again and againfor yrs on the decision to strengthen the team incertain positions has cost the club many a trophy and the fans lots of frustration and pain.so it is his own making…. just plain arrogant!!! OFcourse, no one expects a winning team each season but at least competitive and mostly combative. 10 – 2 score is not exactly being competitive….. the worst ever beating by any Arsenal team and lets not forget all the othe humiliating defeats by tennis scores and worstof all destruction by 8 – 2 score……

  3. Arsenal – 5th

    Wenger is the disgrace

    1. You are the disgrace. He made it in there for 20yrs,,,and he is a disgrace in one season. Dont tell me he hasnt won a trophy in 10yrs becasue he didnt have all the funds in 10yrs and he has won more than one trophies in the last 4 years that things started to look better financially. He is in the final of FA Cup…win or loose – he made it to the final . Where are MU, MC, Supds…..Liverpool today? Didnt they all spend big last summer??
He is right all day long. He can be criticised but using certain unprintable languages/comments on him is to say undeserving of him. Being disrespectful to AW is just NOT ACCEPTABLE.

      1. He has had money for at least 3 seasons. In all of those seasons it has been the same issues in the team over and over again. He can’t fix basic issues and now is blaming fans.

Yes, he is a disgrace. It doesn’t matter what he has done for the club. Unlike narrow minded fans like you – most of us realise there was an Arsenal before Wenger. It wasn’t Wenger that brought this era. Graham was the one that put Arsenal on the map again. We, as a support, have become weak and disrespectful to our club in favour of this man. There are many greats at Arsenal and he is a disgrace for holding this club to ransom.

    2. No disgrace. If Wenger out, who do u want. He has learnt a bitter lesson. Give him one more chance n u will see a diff. Arsenal ! I promise !

  4. True, some fans used their emotions to criticize and have unrealistic expectations. But Arsenal itself has no guts to change and I think Wenger’s authority is too dominant in Arsenal.

Wenger was the one that improved Arsenal and maintain its stability, but a true great club should not rely on one person. Arsenal needs a balance in their management and the outspoken fans provide it, because Arsenal doesn’t seem willing to provide internal competitors for Wenger, to challenge his ideas and authority.

  5. Wenger is a disgrace backing Kroenke – this man is like an arrow in the side of Arsenal Football Club, continually drawing blood out. You cannot love Arsenal and Kroenke as well. He has ruined the reputation of Arsenal on his own, like any other club he has owned. While other clubs are being given injections, we can’t compete while we have this arrow in our side.

  6. The fans who describe him as being like a cancer area disgrace. Arsenal like any team has some nasty, unintelligent fans.
If Wenger goes I just hope people will not have reason to regret it, and that the promise of better things really does transpire.

  7. Yes, some AFC are disgrace those who still want this arrogant to continue.
    Wenger out
This season is a complete failure and it must continue this way… Chelsea for the FA

    1. forget Wenger.. you are not even worthy of being called a disgrace.. either you are a troll from another club or certainly no fan of Arsneal if you want Chelsea to win… whether you love or hate wenger a true arsenal fan would only want to see the Gunners win today !

  8. Stoned to death wenger is like Stephen in the Bible. The behaviour of some fans hurts! why do disgraceful fans direct their anger to an old deluded man who is persuaded to stay by the board! It’s not wenger fault he wants to stay in football and he is needed by arsenal owners. forgive them wenger the do not know what happens in Arsenal boardrooms

  9. Yup, His right, All those fans who want Wenger to continue are a forking disgrace! I tell ya ?

  10. We have to be objective . What I hate the most are personal attacks. No matter how bad things could turn out to be, let’s keep it sporting. Some of the things said on social media, Arsenal fan tv , have been personal and over the top . Some of the comments are things we should be embarrassed about .
I want my club to be competitive and be better. We can always complain without bn immoral

    1. Just admit it… You love Arsenal fan tv, it’s the abuse that keeps you going back for more. ??

Man, the world is full of pain & misery and more often than not its the innocent who keep getting forked over, yet this delusional old zipper jacket is expecting a pat on the back for consistently serving up ?? while taking home £8.5 million + bonuses a year.?

  11. Strong clubs make a decision.
Handing him another contract is taking the easy route – settling for the hum drum.
I feel with the remarks he has made he has burnt the bridges with a lot of fans. If he stays and last year is repeated the atmosphere will become horrible for him.
I believe that these remarks are a final swipe at the fans – I don’t think he will stay..

  12. To say “Wenger out” is not disrespect. I think most of the fans did not cross the line in their demands. Some may have…..but for Wenger to come out and say what he said as if all the fans treated him disrespectfully is not proper……
Anyhow….the best to our beloved team today….the trophy is ours if the players really wanted it.

  13. Respect is a two way street. In order to garner respect, one has to respect one’s self. Coincidentally, the respect for Arsene Wenger was not such an issue in the first half of his tenure but in later years, parallel with the disappointing results, there has been less support for Wenger and his ways from the fans. Due to the lack of transparency from our club, the typical fan has been left to draw their own conclusions about the results, signings, performances etc.

Some fans feel deceived by the move to the Emirates with the promise that our club will compete with the elite of Europe when the reality is completely different. They feel deceived by the poultry investment in players during the transfer windows every season in which we always sell our key players to our rivals and then end up one or two players short of a competitive squad. Some fans feel fleeced by an owner due to having to pay extortionate prices for a season ticket so that the owner can treat their club like a cash cow. Fans feel frustrated when they are blamed for performances on the pitch because they have dared voice their objection at the direction of the club. Finally, fans feel disrespected because they have had to endure a whole season without knowing whether their manager will extend his contract at the end of the season.

Once again, respect is a two way street.

    1. Arsenal fans are deluded people, who do not know their right from left. How on earth can a fan insult the man that made him great? This is tantamount to biting a finger that feeds him. Indeed, everyone can make a mistake, and later corrects himself. But the type of riotous demonstration shown by Arsenal fans this season is nothing but delusion. This not encouraging! It is damaging! And Pier Morgan and others had damaged the season for the Arsenal Football Club, thinking that he is doing to the Professor of football. Yes, we have lost the champions league next year because of the fans. We let this great club down so much by this act of callosity and insults on Arsene Wenger and the club. Why should we, Arsenal fans always let what all this journalistic jargons by the press and football pundits disturb us so much, that we so easily forgot what this man did for us, by bringing Arsenal Football club to this level, both financially and otherwise. I am proud of this man, and I don’t I care what any idiotic Arsenal fan would say. This man is good, and let us criticise him with love, and he will do better next season. Let all of us come in great number to support him, especially today, as he is about to make history in the best football league in the world.

      1. Ifedioranma: The way you refer to Arsenal fans, almost in the third person, makes me question your allegiance to the club. Are you a fan or a Wum? (I wonder)

First of all, Arsenal fans are the most patient and loyal fans you will find on the planet. After all which other club would put up with Wenger’s performance over the last decade? The average duration of a premier manager in normal circumstances is 18 months yet Wenger has been plying his trade for more than two decades and he is in the privileged position of deciding his own future. Arsenal fans have every right to question Arsene Wenger on his record and his management of the club.

You said in the above comment that criticising Arsene Wenger is tantamount to biting the fingers that feed you. Do you mean those fingers that are pocketing £8m a year for a job that should have accountability?

You say that the demonstrations are not helping but hurting the club. I ask you, which came first, the chicken or the egg? If the performances were good, would you see the demonstrations? If there was clear communication, the frustration would be reduced.

Among your other ramblings, you tried to convince me that Wenger will do better next season. Well it’s been 13yrs and I’m still waiting for league success….It’s been next to an eternity and we rarely get past the last sixteen in the champion’s league. So forgive me for not sharing in your optimism. I hear the same BS every season and frankly fans deserve the respect of being told straight truths.

      2. You might want to try L Ron Hubbard next … He was paranoid too, and like Wenger was a master manipulator adept at stringing along his hapless followers through a mixture of philosophical jumbo jumbo and the promise of a glorious future … AFC the Arsene football cult … Sad … A victory today plus announcement shortly after of his departure would be a great weekend

    2. The poultry investment?
Are they paying for things with chicken nuggets and drumsticks then ?

  14. Fans were a disgrace but it’s not right for a manager to say…. But then football today is a disgrace tbh. Ozil gets paid approximatly 243 times more, per year, than someone who saves lives for a living.

    1. I agree with everything except the fans being a disgrace.
Season ticket holders pay a lot of money to see the flat, passionless performances of Arsenal this season.
There is no other way for them to vent their anger than through protests at games and social media. Fair play to them..

  15. the fact that he has the audacity to turn against tge fans says it all. The guy needs proffessional help because he has totally lost the plot. As long as him and kroenke have anything to do with our club we can forget about trophies.

  16. Go support MU, MC, Chelski…and Spuds …you have the right to STOP supporting Arsenal and you will not be pernalized.
AW cannot be a disgrace – NEVER. He made it TOP 4 for 20yrs. Did that sound correct…20yrs?? And he is a disgrace in one season.
AW is right all day long.

    1. Asking for him to leave is not an insult.
All those protest banners – I don’t recall seeing anything directed to his person.
Man United won the CC and the EC and the others will be in the CL which is far more lucrative for Arsenal than the FA Cup.
According to the club we have the resources to compete, we just don’t have the manager with the ambition or nerve to make huge waves. He used the minimum resources to achieve the minimum required by the club. He never was that interested in winning the PL or CL – he even stated that trophies were not the be all and end all of football, in his ignorance he failed to realise that it is for Arsenal fans…

  17. Over £8million reasons not to be upset….Mr Wenger……you have overstayed…..you have too much power…….you are inflexible…….the fans want change……..and you are in the way……..you will get your respect back when you voluntarily leave at the end of this season………if you stay and don’t win a league trophy…………that goodwill will disappear……….

  18. If wenger thinks some arsenal fan are a disgrace for voicing an opinion about the direction the club is heading, then he is also a disgrace for lying to the fans that moving to the emirates would allow us to compete with the best teams in the world. there’s been no proof of that apart from 2 fa cup wins. We pay the highest ticket prices in the whole of Europe and what do we get for it nothing but abject humiliation in Europe and the EPL.

And if he is going to remain a bitter man for some fans reacting to the lies for we were told pre Emirates, then please shove off and take your unforgiveness with you elsewhere.

Arsenal gave wenger a platform and now he thinks he is above criticism. Waving banners and telling you to leave is not beign treated worse than a human. does he think Arsenal fans are stupid
we voice an opinion, we catcall, we protest all because you havent fulfilled your promises to compete with the best in Europe and you think this is a disgrace ? Now seriously who is delusional.

  19. He’s talking about the personal abuse that shouldn’t be accepted in any walk of life.
I’m Wenger ot now but I’ve been embarrassed with some of the things I’ve heard this year.
I’d be amazed if he stays after these comments.

Anyway let’s focus on the game now!! Coyg.

  20. As usual it’s everyone else’s fault

Firstly if you can’t stand the heat step out of the kitchen it’s his choice to stay

Secondly for 8 m you can call me what you want trust me

And finally respect is earned but can also be broken, continually lying to fans has a tendency to make them lose respect and faith

  21. Some of you so called Arsenal fans are disgraceful w@nkers and should be ashamed of yourselves. Yes tha man needs to go but with our grace, our respect. Ok so we have not won the league for a long time but have won a couple of FA cups and win or loose today he needs to go with respect. Spuds have not won the league since 1961 and only won the cup once and you don’t see them giving the sort of sh1t that Wenger gets.
Anyway I hope you all are supporting the team today. Peace and Love x
