It looks like Ospina to Napoli deal could fall though

Poor old David Ospina, the Arsenal and Colombia keeper has been trying to get away from the Emirates for a few years now, and now the arrival of Bernd Leno has made him surplus to requirements he is still finding it hard to get a club to accept his conditions, even on a loan deal.

It was revealed that Fenerbahce has been chasing him for some time, and last month Boca Juniors were also very keen, although Ospina himself prefers Europe. His agent said at the time: David has a contract for two more years with Arsenal but there is a new keeper, so it can be a cycle completed and if there are no options in Europe, Boca is a great option because it is among the 10 largest teams in the world.

But neither deal has come to fruition, but when it was reported that Ospina was in Italy for talks with Napoli it looked like he had finally found a new club, but alas no! The Napoli president Aurelio de De Laurentiis was quoted on Sky as saying: “There are four in contention: Ochoa, Mignolet, Ospina and Tatarusanu. It is true that Ospina could arrive, we are negotiating, there are still some differences on the requests.”

Considering that Arsenal are only asking for 1million for the year-long loan, surely it can only be the wages issue that is stalling the deal? As it always is with Arsenal players!

  1. Should have fired the chief negotiator for the salary department, because Arsenal have been paying huge salaries to mediocre players like Ozil, Xhaka, Ramsey, Ospina, etc

  2. “He [Emery] told me the positives in my game and what to work on. I’m happy because it’s difficult when you never know what to work on because no one tells you.”
    – Mustafi on Emery…
Lol..isn’t that a slight dig towards Wenger?
“you never know what to work on because no one tells you”
This has to be Wenger, and i want to believe it’s the same with Bellerin, Iwobi and the rest, he doesn’t try to correct them or influence them, since he’s always on about this whole “Express urself bullshit”

    1. I doubt any one on here is remotely surprised by the clear truth you write. WENGER WAS TO COACHING WHAT THE QUEEN IS TO DRUG PEDDLING.

        1. Let me just say then that Wengers defences showed NO evidence of any coaching for many years past. Is that better for you? Less poetic licence maybe and more to the point.

      1. Kroenke is one smart businessman, but lets see when he owns 100%. Besides Wenger’s tactics and motivation to the players was very low. So each share their own faults. But thats the past now. Lets look forward.

        1. Patrick, I’m waiting for that to happen and see what Kroenke will bring to the table. It is high time arsenal had a single ownership like the rest of he EPL clubs if we want truly and see massive investment in on new players. I do understand fans want him to invest on players but i didnt see that happening when he owes 67% of the clubs. Let say he invests 300m of his own money on new players and we won the the league or cl and makes a whole of money afterwards. He is only entitled to 67% of profit makes if it works that way and the remaining 33% goes to shareholders. He won’t invest his money, i won’t do that either and i don’t who will. That is what refrained Usmanov to do the same. All his ambitious talks are bullshit. Chelsea owes Abrahamovic close to a billion pound because he own the club and rip the club of her asset if he want his money back, how much do arsenal owes Kroenke and the fat mafia?

  3. Ospina has a choice to make; enjoy his current salary and sit the bench, or take pay cut and play football. Stop whining FFS, could be much worse; could work day to day grind like 95% of the world at 10% of his current wages.

No pity for him, Ramsey, or any athlete that thinks a few million per year is not enough. Come work with the rest of us for a year, and see how quickly you sign ANY contract from ANY club.

These spoiled children do my head in

    1. He could go on holiday and still earn his fat paycheck. How many of us has that opportunity. If he loves playing so much he can go to another club for 50% less than he earns here.

    2. Ten percent? I wish! More like ONE PERCENT OF HIS WAGES, ACTUALLY. If he is on 60k per week , thats approx £3 mill a year and 1 percent of that is £30000 a year. And if you truly mean “the world,” then its more like one tenth of one percent on average. Players are obscenely overpaid. IT IS A TOTAL SCANDAL IN FACT!

      1. Jon you speak the truth. I was going more for effect than accuracy regarding percentages. I typed 10% because I was too lazy to pause and do the math. In hindsight, a mistake it seems, ha.

I stand corrected and would amend to say “…make 1.238% of Ospina’s annualized salary minus any performance related or other bonuses.”

Hopefully without having to add regional or job sector designations, plus or minus currency exchanges related to the British pound or Euro.

        Sheesh, tough crowd, ha.

  4. Tired of our players not happy with a few millions and the honor of playing for the badge. It’s outrageous mediocre players unsettled with their wages, when fact is no other club will offer them anything close to what Arsenal OVERPAYS them.

Waiting for the club or Emery to grow a pair and put these spoiled children in the corner until they find gratitude or another job.

Sanchez was final straw after Arsenal saved him from Barcelona’s bench and made him relevant.

Now he we go again with the Welsh ingrate, same shit, different stink. SMFH

  5. why does it seem that no other premier league pays such huge wages to their second rate players ?.arsenal seem to have made the paycheque to those players so over the top that it is actually unfair. i know it is not my money they are paying , but where does it all end.i would love to go back to the day that all footballers are payed the same wage, that will never happen i know , but , it would be such fun to see. i dont think we would have too many players on our books then, that would sort them all out. give them a fair industrial wage and see how they like it .
