It Mass be! Allegri to replace Wenger at Arsenal?

There will no doubt be a lot of names put forward for the soon to be vacant job of manager at Arsenal Football Club, always assuming that Arsene Wenger does what most people now expect and calls time on his 20 year career in charge of the Gunners.

Some fans are hoping for a complete change of tack from the club, bringing in a completely different type of character to the Frenchman. That would be someone like the Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone, whose tactics and style of coaching is just about as different as you can get.

I very much doubt this will happen, though, especially if Wenger is going to have some input into the decision on who will take over from him. I expect us to try to keep some continuity and with the players we have in our squad I think that is the right way to go.

A change is needed but not a complete upheaval and overhaul of everything the boss has built in his 20 years. I would personally like to see the job go to a fresh and exciting new manager like Eddie Howe but I do not think it will. For me the clear favourite is the man currently steering Juventus to yet another Serie A title in Italy.

And it seems to be that Massimiliano Allegri is going to take the job offer, even though Metro is reporting that the Italian is playing down the rumours and joking with the press about them.

Allegri said, ‘How’s my English?

‘I started learning before Milan, now I’ve left it. They say I’ll go to Arsenal? You all say that, I just listen…’

Hardly a firm denial from the Juve boss there was it? Do you think that Allegri is the right man for the job?

  1. STATEMENT: ‘A change is needed but not a complete upheaval and overhaul of everything the boss has built in his 20 years’.

COMMENT: ‘I think the boss has up heaved and overhauled everything he’s built in 20 years’.

  2. Im not affraid of change, we should not be. Stop comparing the situation at MANU when they give Moyes the role to replace Sir Alex. Its like comparing fish and chips with paella. Allegri is a very open minded coach with 3 styles of play 3-4-3 like Conte or 4231 or 4-1-4-1 but the team press high the pitch. Simeone mostly play teo styles 4-4-2 and 4-1-4-1 but more pressing than Allegri. Wenger never changes his 4-2-3-1 which has become irrelevant. Mostly, im in favor on one of the two mentioned who will not let our team collapse like we do in big games. Whoever comes, we have (the fans) give him time and patience to rebuild because believe me. The new coach will do a massive clearance starting with deadwoods and injured prones. Pray the board give him 150-200 to spend and fresh start. With wenger we lose for the past 12 years up to 7 games per season so be patient with new coach and if we get into europa league in his first season will be step in right direction but if inhis first season we win the league like Conte is mostly assured then we “the Arsenal suffering fans” can be proud of our team once again. At the meantime, lets pray we get our coveted trophy.. 4th place.

  3. I think its time we find our own way of playing football. This imitating Barcelona has got us nowhere and football has evolved it is more tactical. Everything is tactical and that is why we should change. Last year i cried saying why waste another year with wenger when it can be used by the other manager for rebuilding well we all know how its turning out to be. I dont rate allegri i don’t like that he is not vocal i think we need a manager to keep our players on there toes.

  4. Stop kidding yourselves, Wenger isn’t going to walk away from this cushie number, he has already stated that he will be managing next season and I’m sure that he wasn’t talking about “ruining” the show at his local McDonalds.?
What other club will pay him £8 million a year for winning FA? (The sweet one and not the Cup itself)?
It will take more than a Giant killing from Sutton to make Wenger walk the plank, Maybe that along with not qualifying for the champions league, now that might JUST do the trick… Just.?

    1. China, that’s who ? Wenger’s off to China ????????
And will probably take away Ozil with him.???

  5. Apparently, After the Munich game the Arsenal fans sang the new version of Mesut Ozil’s song:

    Where was Ozil?
    Mesut Ozil
I just don’t see him on the pitch.
    He must’ve stayed at home
    W***ing all alone
    Where was Mesut Ozil?

  6. There is no chance the Arsenal board will give the purported new Arsenal manager the sum of £150-200m for new players recruitment because the board cannot afford to give that kind of money to do in coming tranfers in the summer. It may interest some anti Wenger brigade members to known that the media has reported that Arsenal transfer kitty has been pecked down by the board to £85m to do summer transfers. And let’s not forget that most of the senior Arsenal’s senior squad players who some moaners want to be seen put on their toes by the new purported Arsenal manager are millionaires who must first be treated with respect before the best in them can be extracted for the benefit of the team. Like I’ve said before, if Arsenal win their next four games against Sutton, Liverpool, knock out Bayern Munich and also beat Leicester, the moaners will retreat into their hideouts. And Le Prof will have some respites.

    1. You’re very wrong on one point: about the fans emotions, and thoughts on the manager being temporary, because they are not. Arsenal could win their next 10 games, it wouldn’t change a thing…Wenger would still need to go. Most Wenger out fans, including myself, have been calling for his head for years, and even when we’ve won, because overall, we know how each season ends, and we get proven right every year!

However, I agree with you on the new manager not being given a monster budget, but you have missed out a key point…player sales! Wenger spent nearly £100 million without selling last summer, and has brought in less than £50 million in player sales over the last four years. That is a very low amount in comparison with other big clubs. Arsenal have a lot of deadwood that needs shifting in the summer, so if the new manager decides to sell, then he could have a huge budget to play with.

  7. the problem of Arsenal isn’t so tactical as it is actually mental and replacing Wenger with the likes of Allegri,Tuchel,Loew ll change Lil or nothing as they are purely tacticians.
what arsenal needs is more thank a tactician, it’s one that ll work on the players psychology and losing mentality as Mourinho do, Klopp do and Simeone can do.
a manager like Simeone or Sampaoli would make more sense than allegri

  8. Wenger has become a very expensive liability. If, as he suggests , he stays for a further four years that will pocket him 32 million pounds minimum and I`ll be 86 years old still waiting for Arsenal to win the title. Win lose or draw we need a change or we`ll all end up in the `funny farm`.

  9. Wenger isn’t doing Arsenal a Favor by staying, people talk like Wenger is Jesus Christ or d god of soccer before Wenger Arsenal existed and after Wenger Arsenal will still exist.. he won’t be jobless if he leaves so why do fans make it feel like it’s a terrible thing.. We have stagnated and if we want to move forward then Arsenal need to step aside.
