It’s not about WengerIn or WengerOut – It’s about what Arsenal need

Is it all about the AKBs, or AOB? Or is it about time for a change? by Anko

I am not going to blindfold myself and say everyone on JustArsenal is an AOB because I still see a lot of comments in support of Arsene. I am not going to go to specific names but there are those who have put it very clear that Arsene should’ve gone well over 5 years ago. I will also not to try to justify who is right or wrong, that’s an opinion we can’t change right now and I am one of those who believe that one has the right to feel what they feel and expressing it.

Now topic of the day, I want to relate what we see on the pitch to real life situations. I know a few of us have in one time or another listened to or read a motivational speech and felt moved and ended up either changing your life or your mood for the moment. But as they say, you may not laugh at the same joke all the time, you may also not be motivated by the same things all the time.

An article here spoke of the importance of changing managers often and I am inclined to agree with him. If Leicester fired a manager that performed a miracle for them by winning them the league which even the most optimistic fan was not expecting simply because of having one bad season, why can’t Arsenal fire Arsene despite him having several bad seasons?

My point above about motivational speech talks about how our players have had to hear the same voice every day in training, am sure some have even memorised the speech they get after a win or a loss, how do you expect them to maintain the same focus? A good example is how Leicester responded to their new manager, even Barcelona changes their managers too every now and then. Don’t get me wrong, I am not saying we should be like Chelsea where they change managers as often as they change their shirts. But someone can also argue that they are considered more successful in the recent past than any other London clubs.

Some players have started to take the voice for granted, they are tired of trying the same things all the time and expecting different results. Like *did you know Cech has made more errors (6) leading to goal more than any other player not only in England, but also in European top five leagues?* Did he just all of a sudden become a bad player? No! It’s just the wrong systems.

Our manager is stubborn and to be honest if it pricks us like this, don’t you think it does to the players? Every top team in Europe has a natural defensive midfielder, some have even two, only Arsenal don’t have, why? Because our dear Arsene doesn’t want to be advised, for so many years we have been crying out for a proven striker. Now we have arguably two of the most lethal strikers in the world football but we still can’t beat Bournemouth away from home, a team that is not known playing dirty nor defending deep. But still beat us like it’s normal. Don’t you see why the change is needed?

If we will be told to see what Arsene has done for the club, and we should also be told to see what he has done to the club and also what the club has done for and to him. The players needs to hear a different voice for once, they need to try something new for once, and a good example is the Ox. He is not a world beater yet, but if we are to be honest, he is improving as a player. Look at players like Bellerin, Iwobi and Wilshire and you will notice they are stuck in their development, if anything most of the players forms are dropping.

So to conclude, we all deserve respect, let’s respect Arsene, but also he should respect us as his employers. There are no more excuses for him. If it’s money, Leicester and Monaco proved it’s possible to win with a small budget, it’s just tactics and manager/player hunger, we have spent more money than spurs and Liverpool in recent times and they are playing better football and are on top of us right now.

So I think it’s not just about AOBs or AKBs, It’s about our football club and our international identity. Change is the only constant thing. Let’s embrace it brothers and sisters, it could end up with us in a worse situation I agree, but it could also turn us to world beaters again.

Does anyone here agree with the points?
