Jack Wilshere to get pay rise in the summer?

The Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere is a Gooner through and through, but he has suffered terribly with injuries in his short career and in fact has not played one competitive game for Arsenal this season. Arsene Wenger believes he will be back in the squad for Sunday’s game at Sunderland but with only four games left in this campaign he is going to be hard pushed to get back up to match fitness.

The 24 year-old still has high hopes of still being picked by Roy Hodgson to go to the Euros with England, so any minutes he gets on the pitch in the next month will be closely watched by Hodgson and the media.

Jack has only got two years left on his contract (like Alexis and Ozil), and according to the Express Arsenal are preparing to give him (along with the other two) a pay rise this summer to persuade him to remain at the Emirates.

Arsenal gave a hefty pay rise to Theo Walcott last year, another player that has spent most of his career in the treatment room, and this will surely count as a massive gamble by Wenger if he seals the extension before Wilshere has prove his fitness over a long period of time.

Other than Walcott, Wenger also gave one-year extensions to Mikel Arteta and Tomas Rosicky last summer and they have only made two starts between them all season! Could he make the same mistake again?
