John Barnes delivers a brutal assessment of Hector Bellerin

Reports have linked Hector Bellerin with a move to PSG, but John Barnes says the Spaniard will not get into their team.

After ten years at Arsenal, Bellerin might ask for a move away at the end of this season with a new report claiming that the Spaniard has an agreement to leave with Mikel Arteta.

He hasn’t been in his best form for the last few seasons and has constantly been criticized for his performances.

Barnes has been unimpressed that he is talking about his career in the middle of a season that Arsenal is struggling in.

The former Liverpool man claims he wouldn’t want a player like Bellerin in his club because he is more focused on his next career move instead of helping the team get back to form.

He adds that moving to PSG might see him spend the rest of his career on the bench because he isn’t good enough to start for the French side.

‘I wouldn’t want a player like Bellerin at my club, if your team isn’t performing well, you want players who want to help the team perform better not ones who talk about leaving mid-season when the team is going through a rough patch,’ Barnes said as quoted by Mail Sport.

He owes more to Arsenal than to do that. If he doesn’t want to spend the best years of his career on the bench, then moving to PSG doesn’t make sense because they have a higher average standard of defender.

‘If he can’t always consistently start at Arsenal over the last few years, then he won’t be able to start at PSG.’

  1. Pretty much voices the frustrations of many Arsenal fans in manner which is polite and non abusive. From the above photo I’m more in shock at what father time has done to Barnes, a player who in my memory remains an epitomy of elegance and style.

    1. I agree Ballerin was a bit never an Arsenal material. He always runs towards his goalkeeper, he can’t jump, he is not providing any decent crossings, a bad defender. Cetric is better than Ballerin. I can’t wait to see his back.

  2. Bellerin is a player who has ever been underperforming & that’s why i’ll continue saying he’s overrated, normally loses sense when he comes to the final third, his brand “sagna cross” nags me. Let him go en we bring more threatening of Lamptey calibre. Even by now he shouldn’t be playing ahead of Cedric

  3. It is very difficult to argue with John Barne’s assessment of the situation regarding Hector Bellerin.

  4. Hector has be’en nothing but a good steward who consistently gives his best everytime he play. I do not blame him for his decision to leave, arsenal fans are becoming unbearable with their personal attacks on the young man, no one can take such from the fans of club you are dedicated to. This kind of comments may encourage those stupid cowards to continue the attack on the young man

  5. Iv not heard him talk of his next club. Only media talking about it, so to blame him for that is unfair.
