Key Chelsea star names Arsenal as team to beat in title chase

N’Golo Kante has named Arsenal as the team to beat in the race to win the coming Premier League title.

Chelsea were runaway winners of the division last season, with the France international playing a key role in winning back-to-back titles with two different clubs, but he is tipping another side to beat them to the trophy this time around.

Kante has named Arsenal as the club to beat following their captures of Alexandre Lacazette and Sead Kolasinac, while their lack of Champions League football appears to be a positive.

When asked if the Gunners could win the PL title this term, the former Leicester midfielder said:‘Can they win the title? Yes, yes, yes.

‘Arsenal is a good team with good players. They won one trophy last season and are a team we have to be careful with.

‘It’s good for him (Wenger) and for Arsenal [that he signed a new deal]. He did some good things during many years at Arsenal. But I’m at Chelsea. If we can beat them, we will do it.’

Kante appears to be somewhat of an admirer of what Wenger has done over the years, and it frustrates me to think that we signed Granit Xhaka in a summer where he was available instead.

Xhaka played a key role in our impressive end to the season, helping us beat Kante’s Chelsea side in the FA Cup final last term, and could well come good, but he has some way to outprove the work done by Kante in his short spell in the UK.

Our switch to 3-4-2-1 at the end of the campaign appears to have swayed Kante into believing we are title contenders, while our signings can only be seen as positive.

Are we Chelsea’s biggest rivals for the PL title? Are they among the favourites to win it next term?

  1. There are 19 teams to beat to win the premier league..

    Arsenal got Lacazette
    Manchester United got Lukaku
    West Ham got Chicharito
    Chelsea got Morata

We have the likes of Kane, Aguero Etc.

The EPL is gonna be SPICY next season.

  2. Hahaha ?? Kante had to say “Yes” 3 times to convince who exactly? The interviewer or himself? ?
Are Chelsea title contenders? With Morata in the bag, only a fool would say No!

As for us, we’re gonna need a few more Quality signings before we can seriously challenge for the title.

    1. Morata… the guy who scores as often as Giroud will win Chavski the title?

Giroud career goal to game ratio is around 0.43
Morata career goal to game ratio is around 0.38

Just to point out, Morata figure has been increase with RM B team, kinda like counting our reserve goal…. Take that away from Morata and it would be more like 0.26

Look out guys, we got a real hot shot to watch out for =.=’

    2. Why do we always like and hype what other people’s got. What has Morata achieved to earn all these praise. All of 15 goals a season? Thats all? Mbappe is seen as a better player than Morata right now, but Lacazette scored more than Mbappe last season IN THE SAME LEAGUE. He’s proven over 3 season, from the same league United brought Ibrahimovic from, from the same league the most coveted Cavani, Mbappe and Lemar plays in. The moment Arsenal bought him he suddenly became thrash. come on!!! How dare anyone subscribe that Morata is better than Lacazette bullshit? what crap?

  3. Don’t think so as we are and we could be worse off if Sanchez goes, Still need to improve squad even if Sanchez stays more if he goes.

  4. That’s very nice of him, but I’d say with some ease, that Chelsea need to worry more about: Spurs, ManC, ManU, L’pool, before they even consider Arsenal as some kind of title threat.

  5. Sorry football
    But what a weird day

Chester from Linkin Park kills himself and
    Oj Simpson is being paroled

  6. Kante reminds me that we still need to improve our central midfield

The other top teams have Kante, Pogba, Gundogan, Toure, Carrick, Matic, Alli, Dembele, lallana, Wyanama

Cazorla is out. Wilshere is often out. Ramsey (injuries too) and Coquelin are okay (good days and bad days) Xhaka is good but can’t play every match.

But if we want to compete for the Title we need to improve our CM.

We should consider Gueye or Matic or even. Barkley in the Premier League or Goretzka, Krychowiak, Keita, etc.

I don’t think Lacazette and Kolsanic are enough. Even if we get Lemar that may not be enough. If Cazorla was healthy and fit. I would feel a lot better.

We are improving a team that finished 5th Chelsea is improving a team that finished 1st. We need more top quality on the team to catch up with teams above us.

    1. If Coquelin can keep this pre season form then he should get a good number of games yet again in the middle, I think Coquelin deserves credit with his recent performances.

I will also point towards how AFC had a 50% clean sheet record after the formation change, the same ratio as the old system and Cazorla playing in the middle. It was the period in between that cost AFC last season, Wenger took too long to change formation.

While I do think our CM is not the strongest, I do believe the 3421 formation helps cover that issue though with the wingbacks being an outlet more than being a fullback.

I do want to say in Coquelins defense that he was playing alongside Cazorla and that formidable partnership formed, Coquelin adapted to that and excelled, he has taken a bit of time to adapt to the change in his role but he is looking good so far in pre season for it.
I think he deserves the chance.

  7. I think in the season ended the issue with Coquelin he was asked to go more forward, this left the protective body in front of the back four being stark, had to always be chasing back. Give Coquelin the simple task of the protective shield in front the back four and he will be ok again, he is not a box to box midfielder.

I still would not mind a bigger figure in the DM role, but give Coquelin the job and it will be done
