Key Chelsea star names Arsenal as team to beat in title chase

N’Golo Kante has named Arsenal as the team to beat in the race to win the coming Premier League title.

Chelsea were runaway winners of the division last season, with the France international playing a key role in winning back-to-back titles with two different clubs, but he is tipping another side to beat them to the trophy this time around.

Kante has named Arsenal as the club to beat following their captures of Alexandre Lacazette and Sead Kolasinac, while their lack of Champions League football appears to be a positive.

When asked if the Gunners could win the PL title this term, the former Leicester midfielder said:‘Can they win the title? Yes, yes, yes.

‘Arsenal is a good team with good players. They won one trophy last season and are a team we have to be careful with.

‘It’s good for him (Wenger) and for Arsenal [that he signed a new deal]. He did some good things during many years at Arsenal. But I’m at Chelsea. If we can beat them, we will do it.’

Kante appears to be somewhat of an admirer of what Wenger has done over the years, and it frustrates me to think that we signed Granit Xhaka in a summer where he was available instead.

Xhaka played a key role in our impressive end to the season, helping us beat Kante’s Chelsea side in the FA Cup final last term, and could well come good, but he has some way to outprove the work done by Kante in his short spell in the UK.

Our switch to 3-4-2-1 at the end of the campaign appears to have swayed Kante into believing we are title contenders, while our signings can only be seen as positive.

Are we Chelsea’s biggest rivals for the PL title? Are they among the favourites to win it next term?
